What's your verdict on this craziness to be built next to the London 2012 Olympic Stadium?

Boris (Mayor of London) just wanted to build something (or anything) to mark the site of the Olympics so that people would carry on visiting in the future.

Looks like a roller coaster that's gone several rounds with Magneto.

What?

They should put a roller coaster in the hoops and a rotating restaurant in the dome bit, then it would be a fantastic tourist attraction.

But they won't.

Did you know the BT Tower rotating restaurant is going to be re-opened?

What is that monstrosity and why would anyone ever build it?

The picture is too small to tell, but I'm certain all the people on the giant circular concrete parking lot (also a bad idea) are pointing and laughing.

I'm in agreement with Albatross.
That thing has no class. When I was in London I was absolutely delighted by all the beautiful stonework in the city.
That thing looks like what a bunch of 4 year olds would make if you gave them special bendy mechano.

So it's not a renaissance sculpture :p I think it's got a lot of modern flare and would love to have that built near me. It's definitely iconic.

It doesn't look like anything. That's my problem with it. It's just a big bendy blob. I'd prefer a big statue of a tyrannosaurus rex or something. Maybe fighting a giant living statue of Wellington.

Like the original, a tragic waste of Mechano.

The only things I can think to link them would be the fact they will both be horribly over-budget, not be finished in time, and be generally rubbish

Like Kilkrazy, I say if you're going to build a giant tower that looks like a roller coaster, it had sure as hell better have roller coaster capability.

Why on earth you would build something like that otherwise is beyond me.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Bozza is Mayor of London and not part of the government. He is also more Dick than Witintongue

Not sure if it is the best thing Anish Kapoor has dreamt up. I heard it is in collaboration with an engineer (no idea why )
The Eiffel Tower was only meant to remain in place for the duration of the World Fair. But never suspected the jabbering jerk to commission some good old Agitprop

actually looking at the piccy again it is pretty cool- me like!
too small though needs to be really massive like Tatlin's Tower

So why did they allow a child to slap some random bits of an erector set together? This is absolute rubbish. Where is that good British sense when it is needed? My vote is that it is probably with Matt down at the pub...
