I was wondering what dakkaites use for twc?

I was thinking of making some kind of mini dreadnought for a marine to ride in. Maybe something like the penitent engine except smaller... and more mariney.

I'm still hoping that Scibor or the guy who did the "Goblin Berzerker on Bear" will do a good bear model (perhaps grimdarked by, say, 15%?) with a set of techno-barbarian legs.

I'd personally love to do a unit of Thunderbear Cavalry...

I figured that if you do a counts-as Khorne army using Space Wolf rules, you could use the awesome Khorne Lord on Juggernaut model:

I do a Chaos counts as and I use Blood crushers for my thunderwolves right now. I'm making it more Tzeentch themed by scratch building some discs of Tzeentch.

Mine are riding Dark Elf Cold Ones. Assault Marine legs, with a bit of cutting and green stuff, fit amazingly well.

The Velard ebay-shop was brought down by someone's complaints, directly after I posted a thread on their upcoming Tervigon-like model. Sad thing. We will have to see what happens.

Anyway, here expensive but maybe the best models for Thunderwolves:

I use these Wolfs from Hordes, Privateer press. Not as large as most like their TW, and not as expencive. I guess I see them more as cavalry than beasts. Besides, these wolves are really good looking models. (and never you mind the smurf paint scheme, they look better in real life)

Thunder bear cavalry.... you pretty much fethed

@sakrileg
Those wolves look awesome I might just say screw my idea and pick up those.

But I was thinking a could build some kind of exoskeleton like the power lift from aliens.
I also think the marines mounted on blood crushers look good.... but they wouldn't fit in a loyalist army.

The mr. dandy one look great.... but $90 for 5 models is a little painful =(

I suddenly want to see marines riding squigs.
But there are plenty of good options, personally I prefer the wolves from Hordes. Great size compared to a Space Marine. And certainly not $90 for a set.

You can also use the D&D plastic wolves (timber wolves I think they are called) or the Fenris Wolf from the hero-clix sets for half way decent stand-ins.

Personally I think the Max-Mini figure looks a little MEH, but to each his own.

I found a good deal on wolf mounts from jeanwulf2k, seems he does everything but paint them for you.

Let me 'splain... No, there is too much. Let me sum up...

I saw those... I'd love for Scibor to make those sort of "SF Celtic Warriors on Thunder Bears" available as a model in his regular line (like the Dwarf King on Bear), not ~$200 one-off models. If they were available at a reasonable price, and in quantity, I'd be looking to buy some.

...after I kill Count Rugen.

I bet he'd make you a deal for a set with just "celtic warrior" legs... but yeah, likely still pretty pricey.

Any Dakka-ites have pix of those jeanwulf2k figures other than what's on eBay? Both for scale and detail... They look good, but some of his other items make me worry a bit as his "flak tank" and "Marine flyer" don't look particularly crisply detailed...

If someone were interested, a search again might turn up something in this regard. You know, for a "Space Thunder, Monstrous Riding Wolf, of Wolves"

Are the wolves recasts or something warranting a complaint ? I'd be tempted to get some if not. Then again, I prefer a variety of poses so probably not.

So far, nothing out there looks right to me and has been a "must have". So I sit and I wait, patiently, for a better option.

Here's another TWC option I don't recall seeing before...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Space-Wolf-Thunderwolf-resin-kit-/320531986644?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa131f8d4

Looks to be heavily influenced by the artwork in the 'Dex. Not sure I like the Wolf, but the legs are very nice, indeed...

Rough riders on giraffes, anyone?
