Did FW even make that model 8 years ago? Was FW even around 8 years ago? And besides, everyone knows that nids don't win GD.

The carapace is pretty good... but it's overall an average paintjob.

Well, it's an averagely painted and badly based Scythed Hierodule still in production (since at least 2005, couldn't find a better date).

The paintjob was nice but 250$ that is criminal.

That is GD painted? You can hardly tell the paint job under all the dust on the model.

Cmon now, 8 years ago, that was a pretty nice paint job. I still think it looks pretty damn good. Agreed it needs to meet a feather duster or a can of air for sure. I wouldnt pay the price either, and would want proof that it was a GD winner. But I wont be insulting anything this time. Over priced sure, but still a nice looking mini

The basing on that model was god horrible. It looks like someone just slapped on some glue and dunked into a bag of flock.

@KingCracker: i don't like to slag anyone's painting either...
mini painting has come a long way since 2002, but there was much better work ACTUALLY winning Demons back then...

i think this guy would get a little more love if he had been honest...
the mini is not OOP, and as far as i know Games Day L.A. started in 2003...

people who blatantly lie like this should definitely be called on it...

cheers

Are we surprised though? How many times do you see something listed as "Pro-painted" and you do not even need to click on the picture to see that it looks like somethinga 2nd grader painted. I find stuff like this infuriating.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

Truly horrible.

This seller has listed the item as unused and unopened - how was it built and painted then? - first lie

The model is not OOP - second lie

Took 3rd in Golden Daemon 2002? - If this is true I don't want to see the rest of the field. I started painting seriously about that time and my first models were better painted and certainly better based. - third lie

$250 starting bid????

Why and how has this seller got a 100% rating?

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

I never got why people complain about the pro painted description, being a professional at something does not indicate the level of quality you would expect from something, it just indicates that money exchanged hands in the process.

I would disagree with that , even a simple job done by a real Golden Demon artist would look significant different from a simple job done from the average people like us.

-They would know how to efficiently apply the brush strokes to simulate the desired results.
-They would know the proper areas to shade and high light.
-They would know exactly what shade of color to use since they have been painting forever.

I completely agree. I have been painting minis over 24 years and consider myself pretty good but I am no where near the level of a Golden Demon artist. There is a level of skill which the model that was placed on eBay that did not show the quality of a GD award. As I pointed out before just look at the quality of the base that the mini was on. There are painters and there are artists and a propainter the level of GDs is an artist which the poster of the auction is not even in 2002 let alone 2010 standards. I would only consider the auction propaint level back in late 2nd and early 3rd 40k editions.

Who said Golden demon artist? I said professional. Being a Golden demon artist likewise has nothing to do with a "professional" description.

If you think pro=golden demon quality you need to check your personal definition of professional.

Im sorry, but for all those saying it was 8 years ago, the painting was not that bad back then.

2002 40k single mini. 1st place.
Thats 8 years ago, and it aint far off what things are now.

The model on fleabay is a joke, not OOP, not golden daemon 3rd place, not even a decent standard of painting.
Should have the listing removed on the GD lie alone.

Before you start a flame war I think you are think a professional painter and pro-painter are one in the same. Yes a professional paints for money but a pro-painter is a skill level. You can be a professional pro-painter which the painter in the auction is not.

This is a pro-paint worthy of a GD

This is not

If I start a business painting figures at my level of painting I would be a professional. I would never say my work is pro-paint level. So this guy by posting that it is pro-painted, GW winning model all I can do is just laugh as the out right lie and attempt to get as many ebay hits as possible. By the way, eBay has guides on how to spot true pro-painted minitures.

Also, the price tells a story too

Victoria lamb sold one of her GD units on there (GK termies and an inq. i think)
From last check it was around $1,500.
That still had a long time left on it, i didnt check back, but someone did make a thread on here i believe.
