I don't know if anyone has done this already but...
I though it would be cool to see what everyone's local GW is like. Share stuff like, what are the stores around it, is it close or far and mabye add pictures.
I'll get the ball rolling.

GW Cambridge
It is in the centre of town, and not to far from my house. It has several places where you can buy fast food like chips and pizza.
Looking in the window is the display board. But I'm not sure how recent this photo is.
The basement has at least 5 different gaming boards with scenery.

GW Southampton is pretty good. The blackshirt Rod is making an effort to remember my name which considering I only go in once a month is fairly impressive.

Their outer display changes very rarely, though not sure if this some new GW policy. Painting of display models is average and veers towards the Devlan mud approach (still better than my models though!). Some of the character models are done pretty well though.

Had an Warhammer 8th practice game in there today with a blueshirt. My block of 40 Night Goblin Spears tore through his Dwarf Warriors and 20 Night Archers sent a unit of Dwarf Miners packing too. Not sure if he was letting me win or not...

Well my local is GW chelmsford but I hate the staff their so I never go, instead I go to my second nearest GW, in cambridge.

There isn't much point me explaining a lot about as Roxerboxers has already done that, all I can say is that it the staff are quite good their and the basement gaming room is great.

Haha... I've always hoped a thread like this would pop up. Thank you sir.

My local GW hobby center is a massive FAIL to say the least, but I'll grab a pic next time I'm there.

i've been playing 40k for over 3 years now (not long I know), play in on average 1 tournament per month, and own 3 40k armies. I have never set foot inside an official GW store. Some day I shall make a pilgrimage... some day.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

I live in toronto, but GW cambridge was the place that I first got interested in wargaming (though I didn't really even consider it for a year or two after, because I didn't know my country had stores). I was on vacation and whenver I passed I wanted desperately to go inside, and eventually my parents let me (I was 13 at the time).

My local GW, is pretty good. Several tables, nice and enthusiastic staff, mostly fun people to play with (some exceptions apply). My only grudge would be that I wish they were closer. 40+ minutes by transit gets boring, especially when I don't have a book to pass the time. My FLGS is closer, but they are more heavily into Warmachine and Magic, with infrequent GW play.

Which table do you mean? I think I recognise the table in the window but I haven't been there for a month or two, I really should get the time to visit soon.

Is it the table with the metal platform and the stompa (I think)?

GW Newcastle is a dog-box.

Tiny, and now has less space due to the ordering web terminal they put in. There's no room to skin a cat, let alone swing one.
It has two 4x4 tables and is generally chock full of smelly teens during the all-too frequent holidays.

I try not to go to it - I am spoiled. My last regular GW store was the Sydney Battle Bunker. Where you had enough room to turn around.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Whoa the other GW places seem pretty bad! I live about 15 min from the Chicago Battle Bunker so I go there whenever my parents let me, its very nice staff are helpful and kind and dont go psycho about buying stuff. Although the teens and under aren't that bad most of the time some can make you're day go from great! to regretful...

GW, Springfield Plaza in VA FTW!

Five 6x4 Gaming tables and a painting station for up to 6 people. The staff and regulars make for easy light-hearted banter/jokes. Staff are the Bomb! All very helpful, all know their games, no upselling. Bing(Manager) is the go-to man for literally any question. Bill is enthusiastic and goofy(in a good way). Tailor is the more serious of the three, but knows when to follow along with a good joke.

GW Hornsby, Sydney.

Located in a back corner of the shopping mall, next to a GAME shop (with a sign so huge it blocks the GW sign), it is right outside the entrance to Myer. Anyone going to the foodcourt will turn their backs towards the GW, increasing its invisibility.

Their tables consist of demo tables for the three games (40K, RocketHammer & LOTR), and then two other tables for standard games (mostly covered in 40K stuff). Altogether too many Realm of Battle Anti-Imagination Boards, but still some good terrain. I was in there today and their CoD has improved. Two glass cabinets, one filled with miniatures (staff armies, store armies), and then a smaller one behind the counter filled with more of the same, plus some of the new releases, and work-in-progress projects.

An ineffectual display adorns the front window. Last week it had a small display for each game, showing off very little, and making itself terribly confusing. Now it's all RocketHammer 8th Edition (or whatever edition its up to now), with more small displays that explain nothing and a giant X-BOX HUGE rulebook to scare away new players.

Poor Chromdog, stuck with Newcastle...there's always the train to shiny Sydney, lots of decent stores here, lots of little grommits to. My local is Chatswood. Good staff and similiar ages...or at least they seem to be...I've always had good service there, but I'm over thirty, so its harder to push a sales pitch on me because I know what I want and I'm not the most friendly looking dude!

My only complaint is that no matter what unit I talk about, they're always saying...Oh wow, that's a great unit...

Gretchin versus Baneblade...oh no, Gretchin are a great unit...you should buy fifty of them!

I guess that's they're job though...on a related note, despite not liking little kids much, I would love to work in a Games Workshop!

Actually, that's not really related...sorry!

I tend to visit at least 3 times a month, sometimes I just get out of the hobby, but their latest display table is the oil-rig looking one. I actually won it in a contest!
It's a shame their replacing it with a Realm of Battle board. I think the first time I popped in (2008-ish) when me and my dad walked around town. I should proboly visit more often really nice people there.

GW Springfield (VA, I heard there are LOADS of springfields) And they're pretty nice. The Redshirts knew my name after about 2 weeks and two 2 hour visits. They learn everyones name, and they've been pretty supportive of me as an annoying new player who doesn't quite grasp the rules of 40k. There's a grocery store and a KFC nearby, but those are the only places to get grub around, and the others seem to be catered to old spinsters who want to learn a craft. Of course, I have to drive for 15 minutes to get to the area, and wait another 15 at the longest red lights I have seen in all the world. My god, they stay red for at least 5 minutes each before changing! And they only stay green for 2...

Obviously I havn't been to Toronto in a while, last time I was in the Eaton Center GW was still there.

The local GW store for me is in Burlington Ontario, it's in a differnt city then were I live, but it only takes 10 minutes to get there. There store is located in a mall, which has a decent foodcourt(for mall standards), and a few actual sit-down restaurant. I love the store.

There are three staff members, and all three are excellent. They all remember the names of the customers. They are all quite friendly, and treat everyone with respect, even those who that don't deserve it. The staff will keep a watchful eye on your stuff if you decide to leave it there and go to the foodcourt.

The regulars are all pretty nice, and it's a great atmosphere. Staff and customer alike are cracking jokes, giving each other advice, and having a good time.

Now the store is fairly small(perhaps 20 feet wide, and 30 feet deep), so they only have two gaming tables which could get annoying on a busy day if you'd like to play a few games. And they don't have room to carry any of the specialist games(although you can still order them in). Most of the armies in the display cases are excellent quality, and the rest are still very good (although most are the employee's personal armies). There is a painting station with four seats,(of which all are rarely in use when I go in) although they no longer have store paints for customer use, so we have to bring/buy our own(which I don't mind).

Occasionally they will hold raffles for finished armies as well. Back in the winter they had events where you obtained raffle tickets, and the prize was a 40K Ork army, easily over 2000 points, and it included a Stompa as well. Currently if you spend $100 or more in the store, you'll receive a ticket to win the Stores Dwarf Army(can't estimate the points, I don't play Fantasy), and one of the Citadel Terrain Boards from the gaming tables.

Now for the humor factor of this store, it seems to be cursed. The store has survived fire, being hit by lightning, flooding(pipes bursting and leaking just above the store in this mall), and as of last week an earthquake. It's a running joke thee on which disaster will happen next.

Now I do happen to have one problem with this store, which is more of a problem with it's location. The mall seems to cater more towards "teen and preteen fashion." Which means that there are a lot of annoying little girls all over the mall, but don't worry, the moment you step in GW you're safe. Fortunately all those annoying girls have an aversion for all things fun and nerdy .

I usually am one who prefers small "mom and pop" type stores. Ones who are owned locally, instead of part of a big corporation, but for this GW store I make an exception. I love this store, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys GW products.

Burlington sounds a bit like the Oshawa store was. Never been in there though. The only time I've been in town since it was opened all I got was the wife's friend saying, "That's the mall Games Workshop is in."

Then they laughed.

And kept on driving.

GW in Portola Plaza. Mission Viejo, California. It's like 5 minutes from my house.

The staff is really cool. So cool in fact that I feel a little bad about never purchasing there. But with prices the way they are, not happening.

It has 3 boards, and then a little cart thing that holds all of the starter games. It even has a painting table! It can get pretty packed but most of them time there is enough room.

I live a very short walk from High Park, and I take the ttc to the Lawrence one. Last time I went, I had to wait 8 minutes for a train to come at my station (I didn't even know there was a time that had 8 min intervals). Its not so bad, but I usually don't go if I sleep in too long because I would be spending 80 minutes of my day travelling. Thats why I need the book.

Also, to the other person talking about the Eaton Centre location, that one was moved to Lawrence, and was the one I was talking about. Theres room for 7 tables and a paint bar (though they stopped supplying stuff recently), and its a pretty good store.
