Hi there!

This is my first blog here, and it's about my very own regiment of Imperial Guard, Teras 41st Grenadier Regiment. I have a bit of fluff about these guys, mostly fancy names for equipment . They are inspired by Russian army, and all veterans are going to be part of special forces of my own creation, Teras Spetsnaz. I have finished one veteran squad, chimera and griffon, so they are still very WIP.

So let's see what you think:

Veteran with carapace armour and autogun.
I used Pig Iron System trooper head, SM scout body and AK from Maxmini.

Chimera with heavy stubber.

Veteran with carapace armour and shotgun.

Here's the rest of them, but I think that pictures above show the style of the army best.

Who wants to know?

for some reason i think you like modern warfare, I have no idea why though
jokes aside, that's some nice work, I would tidy the chimera up a bit though...

Yes, I admit it, MW2 WAS one of my inspirations, alongside Tom Clancy's EndWar and Gears Of War (I'm planning to give Storm Troopers chainsaw bayonets to make them look more... stormy . GOW inspired me to make carapace vets= 41st Teras GRENADIER Regiment

And, you're right about the chimera, but sadly I ran out of Tamiya German Grey, so that'll have to wait

They look good so far. I would also suggest that you go over the vehicle freehand stuff again and tidy up the edges. The system trooper hats look good with the scout torsos.

The infantry looks great... at first I didn´t notice they are conversions - the use of parts is so good they look like something that could be produced on it´s own
Also like the russian feel to the tank.

Now then, just ordered the parts I need for my command squad!

Here's my plans:

-The commander, whose name I haven't yet decided but I'm seriously considering naming him Kapitan Vlasov, is going to be armed with bolter and a power sword. I'm using deathwatch bolter and the sword is from catachan command squad.
-Standard bearer, going to be a mixture of scout and catachan parts
-medic, he is going to have space marine narthecium
-two bodyguards, mixture of catachan, chaos marauder and ork parts, and oh yeah, that scarred bald head from empire flagellants.
the two regular troopers will be my typical scout/pig iron mix

They are going to be armed with heresy-miniatures assault rifles:

Going to post some WIP pictures when they arrive, so stay tuned

The bodyguards sound brutal.

What do you think of painting them some funny tattoos on their muscled arms?

Actually, I was thinking about tattoos, and particularly russian prison tattoos (some pics)

ImageShack.us

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I think that russian prison tattoos, (some of them are masterpieces, I have to admit), could work well in 40k because of their religious imagery.
The problem is, that I'm not that good painter And I want to make justice to them. I have tried painting tattoos, example here:

(sorry for bad quality, I have to take a better pic soon) but the tattoos that are showing in his hand are nothing more than trail of blue paint. I am not happy with the results.

So, I'm asking, if anyone has good tattoo tutorials, please post them Thanks beforehand

No worries man, just busting your chops.

I'm very interested in seeing what you do for prison tattoos on the models. It's an excellent idea.

Nice to know that you're not mad at me Tell you what: you can be the alpha male of dakka's walruspack!
Now then, back to business, just bought a new brush for the tattoos, and I like the feel of it. It's from company called The Army Painter,
and I'm planning that now on I'm purchasing all my brushes from there.

While I'm waiting the parts to arrive, here's something new anyways:

This is (again) my SM scout conversion, armed with AK47 with tactical sight from scout bolt pistol. The head is from Westwind productions. I'm using =I= symbols to mark individuals that have served an Inquisitor in some campaign (inventing fluff is pretty hard, I have noticed )
i'm hoping that the parts arrive within this week.

Very nice, he looks " sniper - ish". The colourscheme is good as well; a nice amount of contrast between the camo and the bright parts.

To the prison tattoos: I don´t know if it will work, but why not use some decals? This could get a bit messy if the surface ( the naked back ) of the model isn´t flat enough, but there are some decals that could work , like eldar runes as tribals... I think you can even buy special paper and draw your own decals ( with a pen; easier).

If it´s too glossy: Either paint it with matt varnish or paint the whole skin with gloss varnish so it looks sweaty ( They come from the prison´s gym)

THE PARTS HAVE ARRIVED!! So, let's cut the crap, here's some WIP goodness

Company commander, Kapitan Vlasov
Bodyguard

Bodyguard number 2.

Vlasov was made with cadian command squad torso, SM scout legs, chaos marauder cape, arms from catachan command squad, cadian head and Deathwatch bolter.
Bodyguards were made with catachan torsos and legs, marauder banner poles and ork chainblades.

Yeah, they look brutal. The heads! The bolter (which is very big) looks really impressive, as does the commanders coat. Very dynamic pose.

Thanks for the compliments! And I've been thinking about the tattoos, I'm probably going to at least try to do them freehand, but if it fails I'm going to give decals a try.

About the colours, I'm sticking to my usual urban camo, but commander's getting a woodland camo jacket. Why? Because it makes him stand out from the rank-and-file

And then, something funny (well, I at least think it is )

I noticed that someone had commented about the rebel flag on this dude's shoulder. So, what's going to happen when you mix soviet russia and deep south?
THIS is going to happen :

Cheers!
