Well, this is interesting. Details are few, but there's word of even bigger warmachines coming to, well, Warmachine called Battle Engines.

As you can guess from the name, these are things akin to giant siege engines, but with all the WM steampunk fantasy tech behind them.

Early rumors indicate the Khador one is some kind of chariot (not sure what's on/in the chariot) pulled by two jacks. The Cygnar one seems to be a giant storm tower.

No pictures have been released yet, but it was shown in a PP presentation as part of a slide show.

In your head, screwing with your thoughts...

Hahaha! About f***ing time! I always thought it was odd that a game called 'Warmachine', didn't have any actual 'war machines' (by which I mean vehicles, or, more specifically, tanks; I know the name is meant to refer to warjacks. )
What I want to know is, when will PP introduce transports?

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

The Khador one sounds a bit silly already... unless they really are going to be quite, quite large.

The "pulled by jacks" bit is currently speculation. The concept art didn't show anything attached to the harness.

Concept art is more similar to a tank with a yoke attached to the front of it than an actual chariot. Turret doesn't look large enough to hold anything larger than a bombard (which is saying something, looking at the over all size), even if it's pulled by 'jacks instead of something reasonable, like destriers.

as long as they dont make troop carriers i dont care. bigger machines are always welcome.

There ain't nearly enough Salvage in this thread!

I always thought that they would save that sort of thing for the next edition, so they could advance the timeline, perhaps bring back the Orgoth and introduce some factions from eastern Immoren. Anyway, it does sound interesting. By the way, what's wrong with troop transports?

Yeah, seeing the pics myself, the Khador Battle Engine is basically a siege turret that will be pulled along by something (likely horses). It looks way cooler than I've described.

Also, there's another battle engine showed that I don't know who it's for, but it is basically a quadraped jack. I think it might be mercenary or rhulic, but the image was blurry and I wasn't sure from which country the text was from.

Remember that Warjacks are basically the tanks of the IK universe. They're basically as common as tanks were in WWII, relatively. So these battle engines could be thought more something like that enormous Siege Cannon that that Germans used in WWII that had to be brought in by rail.

Overall, I look forward to them, but also concerned since WM overall is a skirmish game. Siege/Battle engines tend to be things for the mass battle scale.

So, they'll either have to introduce new mass battle rules, or give these things point costs that really prohibit them from being used in reasonable 35-50 point games.

I am hoping for mass battle rules though.

That's the Cygnar Storm Walker. Note the storm chambers along its back. Reminds me of a Scrin unit, personally.

What you have to know is that from the early days of WM a certain percentage of it's fanbase took great pleasure in deriding GW/40K for a whole slew of reasons, amongst them the fact that GW built tanks/transports/big models motivated by greed and being a way to force players to buy expensive models to stay competitive.

These fanboys used to make a lot of assertions about what PP would and wouldn't ever do as if they had a pipeline to Matt Wilson's inner thoughts and plans for PP/WM.

They stated that Wm would stay a skirmish game with no big ticket gigantic models.

They stated that WM wouldn't release repeated rules revisions

they stated that PP wouldn't ever do non-metal models

They stated that PP would never do "codexes".

And so on and so on...

Transports would be tied to the idea that vehicles and large big ticket models are not needed in a skirmish game and are"too GW".

It has been really awesome to see the line between GW and PP get blurrier and blurrier and see people backtrack all over their predictions...

The lines between PP and GW are still pretty well defined to me.

Regardless of what some inane people say, PP handles things much better than GW.

MK2 is a shining example of this, absolutely no models were invalidated. Compare that to the kind of "revisions" that GW does where they're basically thinly veiled attempts to get people to rebuy armies and product that's now been invalidated.

Also, the whole no plastic, no big items, I have not once every heard PP itself say those things. I know PP has said something along the lines is that they preferred metal right now and didn't have immediate plans for plastic since the early days.

The Army Books for WM were a necessity that also weren't a necessity. They're there as a way to bring new players up to speed with MKII, along with all the fluff for all the units and characters for their faction. Realistically, you could just buy a faction deck to get everything you need to play.

And, compare to GW's 1-2 books a year with deliberate power creep, all 8 of the warmachine/hordes MKII books were basically playtested and developed alongside each other. All 5 WM books were released in the span of 5-6 months, and now the hordes books are on track. But even before that you could get faction decks on day 1 of the MK2 release. You weren't stuck with old outdated rules from ancient codexes and expected to play with that.

Let's face it, stupid fans are stupid fans, on both sides, but PP itself has been doing a very good job of handling the transition.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that Page 5 was never meant to be taken seriously. By anyone. Ever.

Coming back to war gaming recently I was quite disappointed PP had gone back on a few things, but such is the economic climate, metal is expensive so cant blame them. In the end I brought into 40k as it was cheaper, besides... i already have 3 pp armies.

Getting back on topic, are we talking ork stompa big? I think i would pick up cryx war engine as long as its not a pirateship with wheels

Page 5 is the worst part of Privateer Press aside from the odd terribly designed miniature.
I'm sure if they took it out, people would moan and rend their clothing, but I wouldn't miss it.

Are you kidding? Page 5 was the single BEST thing about Privateer Press! I'm just pissed that they made it less 'hardcore' in MK2, seemingly due to total nimrods using Page 5 to act like goons. The Page 5 in Remix is hella better.

The main problem was that people actually took it even remotely seriously. The fact that people can't see an obvious joke when it's offered is fairly depressing.

What is page 5?

It's a full page of over the top, tongue in cheek, macho posturing in each of PP's books explaining their motto of Play Like You've Got a Pair. Typically it involves beating your opponent into the ground, and making them cry like a little schoolgirl. Think of it as a text version of POWERTHIRST.

the new page 5 for mark 2 is a bit better though. It at least goes into being a good sport, and not using page 5 to act like a complete ass. Warmachine favors the aggressor where games like 40k sometimes favor the more defensive minded. They are just illustrating this with their over the top motto.

Are you kidding? MK2's Page 5 was a complete dissapointment and a serious downgrade compared to the original! They watered it down to make it less aggressive, so people too stupid to get the joke could understand... But if you have to explain the joke DURING the joke, it just makes it far less effective. If they really felt it necessary to spell things out for the utter retards out there they should have left Page 5 alone and put that on the next page, completely separated.

Sarcasm and attitude that's meant to be joking are the two most difficult things to convey with text alone.

Not to mention, it was PP being childish and naive to include Page 5 the way it was if they ever wanted to become a big business like they are now.

I have more respect for PP now that they've fixed that rather than before.

MK1 page 5 wasn't written because they had the balls, it was written because they really didn't know any better. MK2 overall was written because now they know, and on the whole the game is better because of it.

Master DRD, I got that it was a joke, but I thought it was a pretty childish and unfunny joke. *shrug*

I'm skeptical about these big miniatures too, I can see them looking kinda dumb. We'll see. I've been suspicious in the past and PP have always pleasantly suprised me.

Pictures of the concept art from the video:

Cryx Wraith Engine

Khador Gun Wagon

Cygnar Storm Walker

And their apparent base sizes. The Khador Engine will at least be on a 110mm base. No confirmation on the others.
