That is a terrainpiece!!!
Can't imagine them very well in a game. They are gigantic and will probably have the rules to boot.
I will have to wait and see what comes of this, but I do not think I will get one shortly after it comes out. With a base that size the pricetag will probably match...

Given the price tag on the Extreme Titan (which, honestly, is about the right size for one of these), I'd imagine they'll probably be around $70 or so, especially since they've confirmed they won't be metal. Not cheap, obviously, but it won't break the bank.

If the wraith looks as cool as the concept art appears to be (and PP figs are usually VERY true to the concept art), then I'll probably end up getting one of those.

Take note of the OTT nature of many of the posts concerning the s3rious buizn3ss111 that is wargaming.
Sprinkle a little egomania and TFG on top for seasoning.
And there you have it: The essence of what the original page five came to represent.
It was the rallying cry for sports-machine/math-machine blowhards to act like TFG and chest thump about how many games they had won.
It was lame, and it helped create a player culture that still reeks of tournament focused "win at all costs" ass-wipes to this very day...
Luckily PP has toned back the page five rhetoric in an attempt to give less legitimacy to the monster that they helped create.

On the other hand, those of us that actually enjoy the competitive, no nonsense nature of the game also enjoy the culture that doesn't coddle and pander or cry cheese. Those of us that enjoy the Math and theory, debate and testing welcome not having to deal who thing it's stupid to have an intellectual curiosity.

You can be competitive AND intellectual without being a douche bag.
Some people saw page five as an excuse and validation to be a tool.
Thankfully PP has tried to clarify that this wasn't the intent, much to the chagrin of tools everywhere...

Thanks for indirectly calling me a tool, I appreciate it.
Now the thing about Page 5 is that it was intended as a joke. Some f***tards took it literally, giving a bad name to the rest of us who could appreciate the humor for what it was. In MK2, PP gave in to all the whiny gits who complained about Page 5 being 'too extreme' and it being an 'excuse' for the other batch of numbnuts who didn't understand that it was a joke, and they 'toned it down'. In other words, they butchered the joke by taking all the attitude out of it that made it great to begin with, and then FURTHER ruined it by adding a 'disclaimer' that blatantly spelled out that Page 5 was supposed to be a joke. Now I wouldn't really have a problem with that if they'd kept the disclaimer separate from Page 5 and not dumbed it down, but that's not what they did.

I spoke about people that acted a certain way.
IF you used/use page five as an excuse to be TFG then yes you are a tool.
I don't know you, so I can't say if YOU did or not, so that is for you to decide or for those that know or played you to decide.

MasterDRD which would you rather have? A butchered joke or a page in the rulebook that entitles jackassery? I'll take the butchered joke personally. I never thought page 5 was all that funny anyway especially when people use it to justfy being unsportsmanlike. I'm sorry, I'd rather they just remove the page altogether. There are better ways to encourage competitive play than to employ hyperbole that might be misconstrued by a literal reader. I mean it is a rulebook and they are usually meant to be read literally.
This is all a bit off topic though.
I'm not that impressed with the look of the Cygnar battle engine. Not too thrilled with the new Triumph character jack as well. I guess warmachine isn't going to be draining my income for a while. This is all good news for my wallet, but bad news for my mini shelf. The other battle engines look pretty cool. I really like the drawing for the Khador engine.

I basically stopped checking this thread originally because I got in a psuedo-argument about Page 5, so you'll understand perhaps why I interpreted your post as aimed at me.
phillosmaster wrote:MasterDRD which would you rather have? A butchered joke or a page in the rulebook that entitles jackassery?
The thing is, Page 5 didn't 'entitle jackassery'. It was very obviously a joke and intended as such, and I don't fault Privateer Press in the least for the average nimrod's failure to recognize this and take Page 5 as 'permission' to act like a f***wit.
On-topic, I am awaiting detailed photos of these 'Battle Engines' as well as at least a summary of what they do. I do like the concept and I'm interested in seeing how they affect the game as a whole.

I'll hold off final judgement on the Cygnar strider until I see an actual model and see the scale of it, etc. I like the the storm themed Cygnar units, so i hope it rocks.
As for Triumph, not that excited really. I already have three defenders, so unless he has some amazing rules I don't see me rushing out to buy him as he is basically a defender with his cool melee weapon taken away...

Imprint: Explosivo, Arcane Precision, and Special Issue: Siege, IIRC. Nothing fancy, but being able to drop Kaelyssa or Denny from 16" is always fun. I personally like him, but then my meta is rather Cryx and Ret heavy, so I've got plenty of stealthed casters to squish. I'll be reserving overall judgment until I see what eSiege looks like when Wrath comes out. Of course, my real baby is Torch: A buzzsaw, an open fist, and a flamethrower with Gunfighter and Virtuoso? Yes, please.

Chiming in on the page 5 debate... For me, the first thing that got me into WM was the look of the models.
The second was page 5.
To me, the most applicable message given, which the PowerGamers ignored, was the statement YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE. It sets up an ethos that removes the stigma of losing from the equation, and allows the players to enjoy a fast-paced, aggressive game. If you lose a game, so what? I've got six gold steamroller coins, as well as a slough of silvers and bronzes, but if I were to totall up my lifetime win/loss record overall, I have a losing record, so far.
Where I think people tend to miss the point is by forgetting that, at the time, (and still largely true), PP was trying to break into what was almost a GW monopoly in the 26-32mm miniature wargaming market. If you are taking a whack at a hill like that, you need to come BOLD. That's what they did. It worked. Now that they have a sizeable fan base, they can tone it down and make corrections as needed. The fact that they are so closely tied to the Gamers and their opinions is a laudable trait.
IMO, that's where GW has lost touch. You really don't see the grass-roots connection to the gamers that PP has.

I appreciated it also. Aside from the statement of fact that you will lose games, it also spells out that you can't turtle and expect to win consistently. Even the queen of the turtles, eHaley won't let you win every time. Aggression wins.
Of the three new named jacks, I'll get two of them (Torch and Discordia). Triumph, probably not unless eSiege is as different from pSiege as pGaspy is to eGaspy. I'm just not seeing the upside to him, even attached to Siege. I see him better with Sloan or the Haley's than Siege but he's two points more than a regular Defender and half the offensive capability. That's a tough pill to swallow.

So did somone mention the scourge of heresy?
Let's see, same basic stats as a crusader with +1 mat. Armed with a blazing star and a new sword called punisher, p+s 18 and causes fire, also comes with purgation.
He also has arcane vortex, imprint arcane assassin(spend 1 focus to ignore focus overboosting of power fields and spell effects that add to arm or def.
I really like him, he is a very solid beat stick for any caster, and arcane vortex really makes him shine. no more pesky enemy upkeeps on him or stuff around him. He should really help against certain casters, just a few off the top of my head Denny, ehailey, stryker.
His imprint with reznik is also situational but very good, terminus camping focus? So what, Iron flesh on the butcher? yes please.
Over all I think he is a very solid buy for 9 points.

Honestly I prefer plastic. Its easier to work with, esp if your a conversion nut like me. Also its not nearly as heavy...making transporting easier. And their apparent base sizes. The Khador Engine will at least be on a 110mm base. No confirmation on the others.
Well other than the idea of the Khador one bieng pulled by something I like them. I think the Khador one should be revised to be steam driven...like the WHFB Empire Steam Tank.
The large base also provides the opportunity for some small dioramas or epic basing for special minis.

Its funny how people bash GW, but continue to buy their products. Sure, they have made it an expensive hobby, but clearly there are plenty of folks willing to pay. I wont fault PP for following the GW model...clearly it works.
I think the fact that PP has made a completely unique universe has fueled their success. Too many games have come and gone that were obviously just copies of 40K. Sure, they had different systems, but the same basic factions were still there.
I kind of like the PP stuff a bit better. Ive always liked the big smashy stompy stuff. Especially when it comes to painting. The idea of painting legions of troops is the biggest thing that has kept me away from WHFB. It is also why Im not more into 40K as well. Ive started to get into 40K several times...but soon the task of painting a couple dozen or more nearly identical troops gets old. Then they sit on the shelf for months until I sell them. The PP games allow me to get a few big models, that are fun to build and paint, and just a few smaller rank and file troops, then get to gaming.

QFT.
I played 40k for a while (I play every now and again, but these days, I'm more likely to find a game of Warmahordes than a game of 40k at my FLGS...), and have found that my biggest issue with the game is the fact that there is just an ungodly amount of painting to do, so I would fall into the habit of buying way too many models, building them, and never getting around to actually painting them. Now that I've started my Khador list, I've pledged to myself that every piece will be painted before fielding, since it doesn't take much time to do, and I don't have to sit in front of 20 of the same model, trudging drearily through a tedious fog to paint every last one of them uniformly.
It's just no fun when it turns into a chore.
My current list is 35 points, and while I'm still waiting on my Warstore order, my model count is only 17 pieces, total, with only 1 repeat model (I took 2 alt-pose manhunters because they were a buck cheaper...) and enough varied work to keep it from being tedious. I already have 2 of the models painted (just gotta base them, but that can wait), and if I just knock out 1 piece per night, I could have the entire set of infantry that I'm ordering finished inside of 2 weeks, painted to my personal tabletop standard, ready to play.
Compare this to, say, the model count for a 1500 point 40k list, and you'll start to get what I'm saying. If I have too much in front of me, my first reaction is to say "it doesn't need to be painted", and move on to building more models.
I'm proud to say that It'll be my first fully-painted faction, in any wargame that I've ever played. I prefer doing detail oriented work, and can give each model the attention it deserves without it taking an eternity to get it done. PP's way of doing things, even with large-scale purchase sticker shock, seems to make for, IMHO, a more enjoyable hobby experience all around.
