Discussion on how it looks.

Graphics seem good which was my biggest fear about the movie. with Dan Abnett writing i wasn't concerned about the story line, but the graphics were a worry point.

now that i have seen the Marines moving in the scenes i feel much better.

What does dakka think?

Would be nice, but they could be fighting orks.

it is tough to tell what they were getting shot by.

As I said in that thread, I do not consider this to be an effective trailer. If you're making a trailer featuring chainsaw-wielding super soldiers taking their alien-stomping show interstellar and the viewer doesn't say "Jesus Christ! I've got to see this!" at the end, you screwed up.

Love the trailer, it actually introduces the ultramarines and the setting quite well, so in that vein its effective. TBH I think the enemies are chaos, cause of the cut of the yellowish helmet with spike through it. (pause as the two scouts jump down).

Edit, just relooked. They were Imperial Fists.

I honestly hope it will be the Orks, being manipulated by another race ie. Chaos/ Eldar. I know it features heavily in the games, but they never add much detail.

Looks alright, but a bit too much in favour of the Ultramarines for me.

I don't mind it being themed about them. Just the "they are the bestest evar" thing they always seem to do, which really only makes the Ultras seem obnoxious. >_>

we must all go through the "Smurf's is best" stage. so never leave(mercy on their souls ) others stay for a time, other leave soon. my stage lasted 20 minutes and 1 model when i said "Screw blue. its hard to paint good"

In the Webway.

The trailer graphics are good, though the actual trailer isn't as cool as some of the Dawn of War ones were. Still im looking forward to the movie, and i think it'll be pretty good.

And my money is on that they're fighting chaos.

I don't know, while I love the idea, I'm not in love with the execution so far. What really is the point of doing a movie if it's not going to get a major theater release? I look at this and all I can see is that awful mutant chronicles movie. The graphics so far are not outstanding, good actors and I can believe a good plot, but do straight to dvd movies ever make their money back? If your not going to go 100% i think it is better not to go.

Can these be considered good graphics after Lord of the rings or Avatar?

Looks pretty crappy...

I feel the intro to DOW1 had better graphics. And that was an awful intro.

which would be a big surprise considering that they are likely trying to expand their target audience.

it was generally agreed that Orks would be a nice introductory bad guy.

Course then most of Abnetts work involves Chaos and only occasionally orks.

i would like to see them put a bunch of existing BL books to screen. Titanicus would be sweet.

my honest opinion on that trailer is.. meh..

for a feature film that uses pure CGI, we're all used to much greater quality. It seems more like an FMV between levels on a game.. hmmm.. I guess I shall wait until the film before making my decision

i think it would be impossible to convey the magnitude of the emperor and primarchs people would need to break down in tears in the cinema and others would be throwing up

a realy good film would be eisenhorn it would almost be like blade runner but ten times cooler and blade runner is one of the best films ever made

Next door to a wizard

I really enjoyed it. As the previous post says, It is the first movie that codex has made so I never expected it to be as big as avatar or even beowulf. BTW do we actually know that it is going straight to dvd or is that just speculation? I hope to see it in a cinema and how cool does the thunderhawk look?!? anyway I cant wait.

+1 to Doctadeth's post.

this film will actually have acting and a storyline. both will be top notch as they got one of the best BL authors to write it and some nice actors.

if this takes off the quality will increase. everyone must buy 10 copies and give them to friends(ones who are interested in Anime/action films and arn't already involved with 40k)

My biggest fear early on, besides the animation part, was that it could turn into an action movie. Dan Abnett won't do that so i was relieved when he was picked to write it.

it should have a gripping story

Honestly, I think the Horus heresy would be AWESOME to put on a CGI movie format. Thats easily my fav. fluff point of 40k. Not tomention, how EPIC would the assault on Terra be on film? That would just be insane. INSANE!
