So every once in awhile I'll see a post on some forum somewhere saying something like
"lol wow you actually buy your stuff for retail price?"
so I was just wondering are these people just talking about ebay or is there some website that sells models for cheaper?

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause. |

There are some stores on ebay that sell GW stuff cheaper than GW does.
I would recommend macpac51 on ebay, he usually has a decent discount. He isn't always the cheapest option but he is very reliable.
Stay away from wizardgames I have bought from them twice and each time it was a fight to get my items (took several months).

Wayland Games is the cheapest full store new product retailer that I know of. I've ordered from them more than a few times and international shipping is very affordable. I'm sure more than a few people will say Maelstrom and the War Store, but the prices are significantly lower from Wayland, and unlike the War Store I can actually place my order online.

There are a couple options.
You could steal a shrike model from someone because you don't like the way he played the game.
Alternatively, there are a number of web sites taht offer 20% or more. Aside from the obvious ones you'll hear (maelstrom, warstore, miniature market, etc), there's also chaosorc.com (20% or better off on models) and wargamerscave.com (more than 20% off, but the exact % escapes me).
Both of these sites are advertisers on bartertown.com (another site where you can trade for or buy minis at >20% off) where I'm an Admin, and I've had nothing but good experiences with both.
Hope that helps.

I buy 2nd hand from gaming conventions that have these stalls.
I buy new from dealers who offer discounts (often through the net and often in other countries).
I'm not paying triple UK price HERE if I can get it for less DIRECT from the UK.

2nd hand by any means is the best method. Know your prices, haggle, and look for deals. Fighting impatiences is the most difficult thing if you know something you want.

Wayland Games, and Gifts for Geeks (20% off) are great.
MiniWarGaming is also good, they have big sales every now and then and you can accumulate reward points for discounts, they have a NA/CA site and a UK one.
Those are the ones I use, and of course eBay is a no brainer.

I use Wayland Games Everything is about half the price of GW's stuff and despite the fact that it's a UK site and I live in Aus, the postage is only 7 dollars or so. I totally recommend it.

Wayland, Maelstrom or Ebay.
I actually often buy terrible looking models for a very cheap price and rebuild them.
Thats a good option if you have the patience and skill to do this.

Try all the forums that offer services such as bartering and trading miniatures. Most sellers/barters are looking for 30% or more off the pice of retail unless it is NIB and shrink wrapped, which often comes to 20% instead.
Be prepared however. Many people like to unload large armies. While good prices are to be had, some contain models you will not find a use for unless you like to do conversion work.
Here at DakkaDakka, we have a flourishing barter and trade community that has some decent deals.
Also look towards bartertown and rogue-market.

20% does not a discount make. You can get 30% off retail if you know where to look.
Alas I went out of my way to try out a west coast source at 30% off and it hasn't gone so well so I think I'm going back to my East coast guy.

They're primarily a bitz shop, but they've got full kits too. Everything's at 20% off, even paints. Free shipping on orders over $75 and it's pretty quite too.

I was looking the other day at 'Maelstrom games' and they seem to have a 'price promise' where they promise to better the price of any genuine online retailer, anyone had any experience with this in relation to Wayland games (or cheaper site)?

Their prise promise also includes postage & handling of the other retailer, so Maelstrom generally comes out cheaper, though YMMV in that regard.

I think the general concensus is Ebay and sites like Wayland - although I've stopped using the latter (as they add the VAT on after and you only get the slightest of savings after the cost of shipping as well - considering most GW shipping to the UK is free now) and use Gifts for Geeks instead and that obviously the more you buy the more you save per item in regards to shipping itself...for Fantasy I'm slowly thinking about moving over to Mantic - I like their Undead minis...but that's an aside...

The price promise is very good.
I use it a lot, usually for RPGs and books. Since Amazon are quite often cheaper on these products this allows me to support someone who supports the larger gaming community while getting the best deal.
Other than that I will usually use Wayland for GW since they are fairly local to me (no p&P I drive there!). Automatically Appended Next Post: warspawned wrote:I think the general concensus is Ebay and sites like Wayland - although I've stopped using the latter (as they add the VAT on after and you only get the slightest of savings after the cost of shipping as well - considering most GW shipping to the UK is free now) and use Gifts for Geeks instead...quote]
I would check that order if I were you mate that doesn't sound right at all, as far as I am aware VAT is included in all of Waylands prices. Are you sure that you purchased this via the UK webstore sound like you may have seen something for a non-UK order point? I'd give them a call.

Wayland has always been cheaper for me, even with shipping, so this new price promise is interesting if true.

Being in AUS, Maelstrom Games is the best option for GW.
Dependent upon the AUD exchange you can save 40-45%, this includes the shipping.
You may need to wait 2 weeks, but I have only once had a mis-pack and they rectified it quickyl enough.

I get pretty much all my GW from macpac51 on ebay. Sells at around 20% off plus free shipping. Thewarstore.com also sells at 20% off, but you cant order online ( GW rules) so you have to phone or email them an order. Ditto for FRPGames, who are also pretty good to deal with.
