I'm thinking of starting a counts as Blood Angel army thats blue called the emperor's tears. should i paint the traditionally gold parts gold or silver, i cant decide what will look better.

Isn't blue and gold ultramarines? (I'm an ork so I'm colour blind hurdy hur).

It could also be Nightlord Armor =U

well i guess it is but since blood angels have all the drop icons i thought it would work for tears. but what do you think would look better? plus it has way more gold/silver then ultramarines would

sounds like a good idea.and i´d go for silver trimmings. maybe even then wash it blue afterwards. would make the whole painting be a lot easier.

there even was a color in former times called pollished blue... this might come in handy if you could get your hands on a bottle...but well they are from former times as i said...

Blue with silver. It will set you apart from the Ultra smurf players.

Silver and blue would be a cool scheme, definitely. Now, if you did an inverted blue and gold color scheme, that might be cool too, i.e. primarily a muted gold, with the blue details. If you go that route, try not to make the gold too garish. If that's possible.

I wanted to start an army called 'Blue Angels' then immediately after I said the name our loud I realized how cheesy it was...so im glad your going a different direction with the name.

If you want to make blue Blood Angels, I would try to differentiate them as much as possible from Ultramarines. I think silver would look alright, but I think you might consider choosing a secondary color to add to the armor so that they in no way look like Ultras

any suggestions for that color, although i like the homage to the fighter planes, i think yellow would look a little like ultras

If you like the color and want to try it, you might be able to make it work if you do it significantly different, like a yellow stripe down the marine or something like that, in keeping with the plane design. That could end up being needlessly difficult.

May I suggest, though, looking a bit into color theory, or at least messing around a bit with something like this. It should help you generate a visually pleasing color scheme, and has enough freedom that you can easily avoid something smurfy with a bit of work.

Thanks, that was really cool, it seems that yellow works best but do you think it wont look like ultras?

lots of chapters have similar ultra colours, nova marines, praetors of ulix (or something) and they all look rather distinctive and interesting. what usually counts is where the colours go. quartered, half and half etc. should pads or just the rims, helmet. etc. placement is key.

ok, but in a blood angel army i was thinking red=blue and gold= silver so it would mostly be blue with out a pattern

First of all try this space marine painter. Lets you try multiple schemes though some of the colour pre-sets feel a little off.

My question would be, what are you going to paint the "tears"? Blue, obviously won't work very well what with the rest of the model being that colour, though I don't know how the Blood Angels manage it either. I think I've seen some green and purple "drops of blood" about.

i´d do them silver. that would give it a shiny look almost like a stylized watereffect then...

yea, either in silver or jsut blue as thats the way blood angels are. (although they are red obviously)

Well if you check on the wiki. There are like 50 Emperor's (insert name here) chapters. Just saying. Plus lore I nomnom every time I get a chance.

i´d suggest to change the thread name to your chapter name. as i recal you named them emperors tears. so i´d use that as a thread name. blue angels is missleading....
