I was actually talk with a clan buddy about just this. He's an ME fan boy, I like both games. It's a tough call. Ideally I'd love to get both, but if I only had to pick one (assuming they're both good), I'd have to go with Skyrim.

It's been almost 5 years since Oblivion came out. Morrowind was 4 years before that.

Mass Effect 2 isn't even a year old and the original is barely 3 years old. That's not nearly enough time to build excitement.

Add to that the fact that we've all known ME3 was in the works since before 2 came out, and it means Skyrim is way bigger news.

Of course, I'll be getting both. Let's just hope they aren't released on the same date.

I'll be buying both. It's the only logical conclusion.

You do realize that your description of Mass Effect 3 is basically a description of almost 75% of all games made, right?

If for some reason I could only have one of them, then Elder Scrolls all the way.

I'm an OG TES player, but I enjoyed Mass Effect 2 more than any other console game since my teenage years. It was AMAZING.

I'm hoping for more of the same in ME3, but with the epic storyline of ME1. The ME2 story was a little "bleh" til the end.

Ummm... that was his joke. I actually read his description and first thought it was talking about Skyrim's plot.

Skyrim, hands down.

I'm just hoping they go back to more Daggerfall/Morrowind styles rather than Oblivion. Don't get me wrong, Oblivion was great, but it's totally inferior to Morrowind.

Boo!

Oblivion had a levelling system I vastly prefer to most games because it remains challenging and allows you to level successfully without having to do stupid amounts of combat which is nice for role playing characters such as monks or thieves.

As a poster said in this or the other skyrim thread levelling to max and 1shotkilling the strongest monsters in the game is no fun, ever.

It's not leveling skills that I have a problem with it's leveling attributes is what makes Oblivion annoying because if you level normally and instead of doing the 5+/5+/5+ technique you have the potential of creating an underpowered character. I think

Oblivion wiki explains my problem with the leveling system best. I would rather they just give me my 5+/5+/5+ every level and I just pick what attributes I want to put it on.

(http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Leveling see "leveling problem" for what I mean)

You can become underpowered because of the stupid scaling system.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Fortunately all this is fixed with easy mods.

With any luck Bethesda will see the way that modding community have gone and implement changes to begin with.

Scaling is useful but should apply to no more than 20-30% of opponents, without warning.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

What do you mean by "without warning"?

I think he means a message saying "this game has the scalings" or a scaling toggle feature.

Also, Mass Effect 2 JUST came out. I'm still running through Oblivion from a few years ago.

I haven't played Mass Effect 2 yet. Is it a huge upgrade over the first one? I really liked the first one, but I felt that only a few of the character classes were really capable of being op meltface levels of awesome.

I would go with Skyrim also. Nords are one of the more interesting races in TES although really the differences between the races are so minor in the Oblivion that it is like getting a different skin, a minor power (worse than a spell, usually) and some bs resistance.

You know you are a TES fan when you have to physically restrain yourself from wishlisting about Skyrim or derailing into why Morrowind had it all over Oblivion.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.
