I think that it would be interesting to see how everyone thinks each of the races will fall?(please nothing about how your faction will never die). I personally think that the Tau will end like this.

There will be a more successful black crusade that will bypass Cadia instead of taking on a fully defended fortress system. It will plough on through Imperial space, attacking planets on the way, causing millions of casualties. Forces will be drawn from all segments of the Imperium. The undefended Eastern Fringe will be conquerored by the Tau during their phase expansions. The Tau empire will grow rapidly. Eventually the Imperium will defeat the the Black Crusade and start rebuilding. They finally realise the threat of the Tau and decide that the emergent empire must be purged from existence. A small strike force is captured and a team of inquisitors find out numerous Tau technologies and tactics (which are called heresy and eventually destroyed). They found out that the Tau method of Warp travel is a lot slower than the Imperiums. They begin a series of attacks using the Space Marines on new Tau planets, sending the Tau into a state of disorder, whilst a crusade is organised.before the Tau can organise a resistance, the Imperial crusade tears a hole through the Tau Empire.

I know there are some plot..um...holes, but its more of a 'hope the Tau will go out like this'. I am not too familiar with some Tau fluff. Can you say how you think a race will fall, then criticize the story. Thanks

Everyone will die in one battle. The primarchs will be there. All of the Tyranids will be there, every single daemon prince and greater daemon wil be there. The pheonix lords will be there. Loads of orks will be there. All of the C'tan will be there.

Maybe we're a bit late for this thread ...........dying out wasn't even fashionable when the squats did it.

Like purplefood I'm a big fan of an armageddon/ragnarok ending. I personally believe the 'nids and necrons (are they actually goodies designed to destroy the 'nids? or just angry robo-skeletons from space.) will play a major part in everyone's destruction with many other races allying to stand against them. But probably failing. Hopefully the eldar will sacrifice themselves to buy the "monkeigh" some time to come up with a plan. Or just long enough to have that final smoke and update their facebook account.

Fear not, my small band of doughty warriors will be back at this time of ragnarok to stand firmly with those troops who can afford us. And maybe do the catering.

Yeah, the armageddon ending would be interesting. Dances with Squats, I have to say, if the necrons turn out to be good guys... Nothing is safe...

Orks on own
Possibly Eldar and Tau. One an emergent race, the other wanting to rebuild.
Chaos SM will be used as cannon fodder
Chaos Daemons and Necrons will unite, both want to destroy life and the Daemons will have nothing against the Necrons and can provide unlimited energy for the C'tan
Dark Eldar... probably on own
Imperium it will unite onto one big front.

A big battle would be great, all the races on one massive planet whilst the Tyranids invade. I think they will all fight together to save their galaxy and destroy the bugs. Then kill each other.

A 5000000 Points Anhilation battle, played over the course of a year. Ending with a fight between a basilisk without it's earthshaker and a chaos rhino... The rhino rams the Basilisk and both explode thus ending 40k. The Emperor died turn one...

The surface of Terra, once the height of an empire. Is now stacked with bodies several hundreds of feet high. And through it all, the only things that remain are the cold echoes, and blood stained soil...

Though the Chaos Gods would be very angry...

How will each race fall?

Tau- I don't know.
Orks- I don't think they ever will, kill one more grow.
Space Marines- When their fans get past 12

There would be a main planet (Maybe Terr or Cadia) and then the space battle will just go from then ever expanding. Any planets that were then caught in the space battle would become part of the ground battle

I think 60 Imperator titans beat monoliths and pylons... especially since you have all of the other titan legions knocking about.

The planet(s) would be covered in massive craters. Rubble all over... Circles of bodies of abandoned units of the Imperium. How a single planet can hold such an amount of creatures/humans/non-creatures/nothings/things/something else is beyond me...

The CSM and SM will settle their differences and be best buddies again!
The IG will give the Tau some pot, and the Tau will be hooked on it for the rest of their lives.
The Eldar kill the DE and eventally die out of too few people later,
The Necrons go back to bed for another billion years.
The Tyrainds will find another galaxey to OMNOMNOM
And The Chaos Gods will become depressed no one is worshipping them.

I figure the End will have the Warp merge with real space and unleash an infinite number of daemons, which will sweep across planets massacring their people even as the planets transform into a hellish landscape where the laws of physics start to bend and break. Various glory boys from their respective factions will then charge to try and fix things to restore the universe and end up in battles to the death. Much like a type of Ragnarok story, the end will be a new beginning where the universe is restored with a clean slate - where the Warp is calmed and no longer spilling over with nightmares spawned by the chronic intense violence of real space. Unfortunately, pretty much everyone is wiped out.

The climactic battles of all the heroes will be the stuff of legends. There will even be some hapless footslogger with a lasgun who sacrifices himself to carry the day and put the universe back in balance, thus imparting the moral that, no matter how weak he is, the heroism of a single man can make a difference. This will later be retconned.

Cabal leave galaxy and go find a new galaxy, starting new place.

Imp survivors find seperate galaxy as well as survivors from other factions. Start again, yadda yadda yadda. Except tyranids. All tyranids in Milkyway galaxy die. New breed of tyranids (same but not as evolved) perhaps more primative as new galaxy is closer to tyranid home place....
