Never-Miss Nightwing Pilot

So 2010 has been and gone, and, hobby wise for me, it has been an eventful year, and im sure it's the same for most of you dakkites. But the question is, what was your best bit, and this is the thread to share that information. It could be a release (i'm sure november's DE release made many gamers happy, whether they play DE or not), a certain paint job or battle, or maybe winning a tournament or another competition?
One of my highlights has to be a recent game i played over christmas. It was a 1500pt game, my orks against my uncle's SW (yes some of you may have heard this story before) and was a capture and control mission. It was a great game throughout and neither of us could call it at any point in the battle and in the end it all came down to a final combat, and even a final dice roll.
It was turn 7, I had more models on the table and was holding one objective with my shoota boyz, with no possible contesters for miles (well inches) around, however my uncle still held the other objective with a battered unit of grey hunters. I had a lone nob who was the only one who could contest the objective and he was locked in a combat with my uncle's rune priest, both were on only one wound. My Nob managed to slay the rune priest but i still had to roll a 4 or more for consolidation for my nob to be able to consolidate within 3" of the objective to contest it otherwise the game would end as a draw and victory would be snatched from my grasp. Fortunatly, for me, the dice came up a 5 ( ) and my Nob (who now has a SW head on his base to commemerate the event) won the game for me (though some credit must go to my shoota boyz). It was a tense, exciting game that i'll remember for a long time.
So, what was your hobby highlight(s) of 2010?

I managed to paint 100+ points of Warmachine and Hordes models in
November! And then I stopped painting for a while.
Note: this is what it looks like:

Nice
I don't play warmachine and hordes so it doesn't mean much to me, but it looks good.

Re-release of Dark Eldar is probably top overall.
Jes proved he is the man once again, and it seems all the other GW sculpters brought in on the project did some of their best work.
Especially Diaz, someone get that boy onto the Witch Elves when they go plastic please. (*Hopes*)
Also good as Aurelia finally has a 40K army that she is interested in, after her Tyranids where stricken down by some poor codex design choices.
Personal ones would include, finishing painting my Orks for a Doubles army with a day to spare last Jan.
Painting my Sons Necrons for Christmas.
Starting my new Skaven army off the back of the Island of Blood release.

100+ points is the equivalent of two large-ish armies.

Bought a house this year, so having some space to spread out and some painting and modelling has been fantastic. Spent far too long being restricted by flats and small rooms in rented houses.

Getting in a lot more games in general was awesome, but I won my first ever warmachine tourney this year and that was really fun.
Grim Angus and his oddly beast heavy warband did good. (I love you, Earthborn Dire Troll).

My Angels of Redemption.
I moved to a new state, have two kids, and a high physical demand from my job (installing appliances). So finding time to paint has been hard going the last six months.
I set out a goal to accomplish (completing ONE squad) with the split color scheme and have them at my table top standard. I did that, I love how they turned out. here they are,

Well, I focused a bit more on non-gaming stuff this year, but I did have some good moments.
I had a great year playing in tournaments with my mech IG.
I painted my Malifaux gang
I expanded my IG to include nearly every unit in the book.
I've started using Reaper Master Series triads, and I'm loving it.

I got a full Emperor's Shield IG Infantry Formation built (based on a USMC Rifle Platoon, so about 120+ infantry models) and painted.
I also painted 1,500 points of Tyranids, and then 1,500 points of SM.
BTW, those Angels of Redemption really put anything I've ever painted to shame. They look great!

Ah an ogres player. 8th edition was a happy time for all ogre players...
I also have to agree with Morathi's darkest sin that Juan Diaz would be perfect for sculpting new witch elves.
And, @malfred, that's obvioulsy quite a lot then. Good job!

Hobby highlight for 2010 was the fact that I actually got into the hobby….
I strolled into the local gaming store and was bitten big time, took a few weeks just to decide which army to start with, played a couple demo games and haven’t looked back.
Although not a lot of got accomplished this year like landscaping, car overhauls and what not.
I can truly say the past seven months have been great, I have 3000+ Tau and growing, Black Templar on standby and even bought a few High Elves things.
Met some great people, played some crazy games and made Dakka Dakka my new home… 2010 was a great year but 2011 will be better…

Well the big highlight is that I pretty much got into 40k. Having old IG models when I first started really helped, because I could spend money on tanks!
Gaming wise, the highlight was the 10k per side planet strike game we played. Lots of dice rolling, and no one was doing that good. Just a nice laid back game.

Starting a gaming group with a few guys I met this year, and have finally been able to play the kinds of indie games I've wanted to (Song of Blades and Heroes, Mech Attack, Futhre War Commander, Wastelands, etc.). We formalized the group with a Yahoo group and have been playing at least bi-weekly for about 5 months now.

Twas the year of ties for me. I think I had 5 games all year that didn't end in a draw. The other 15 or so were constant draws.
The highlight was a draw just because of the internet opinion on 5th vs non 5th dex. Orks and IG vs Sisters and Dark Angels. Castled and blasted open holes with Retributers and Devastators and got through enough to hold our own objectives and contest the ones in the middle. First time with a Land Raider so it ran around near aimlessly being a fire magnet lol
Overall though the hobby is a distraction from life and that it did quite well.
