Jade Empire

Why? Because it's unique as the only martials arts 'western' rpg ever made and probably the most underrated game produced by Bioware. Imagine a Jade Empire 2 that goes the same way as Mass Effect 2, increased emphasis on character development, cinematic dialogue, and improved combat. The current gaming industry is dominated by fantasy rpgs and scifi/modern shooters. I for one would like to see some innovation and a Jade Empire sequel would be just that.

Is it possible? Hard to say. Bioware is focused (for the meantime) on Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, and The Old Republic. Once Mass Effect 3 is out they could have the resources to begin developing (or speeding up development) on Jade Empire 2. I would not be surprised to see Jade Empire 2 announced in the wake of either Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect 3.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines

Why? Because VtM: Bloodlines was incredible and one of the best RPGs ever made. World of Darkness is one of the most beloved table top RPGs on the market and there is a significant market out there for a new VtM.

Is it possible? Not a chance. A World of Darkness MMO is in the works and set for release in 2012. I'm sure I'm not the only one saddened by yet another RPG series jumping on the MMO bandwagon.

Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura

Why? Aside from having the most awesome title of of all time, Arcanum is also heralded as being one of, if not the greatest, RPG ever developed. There was a plan for an Arcanum sequel based on the VtM: Bloodlines engine (Yes, I know, the very thought just caused you to cream your pants as I did mine), but VALVE in all their glory screwed the pooch. Troika went out of business and RPG fans lost the most innovative developer in the genre.

Is is possible? I think it will happen. Arcanum has an incredibly strong cult following and I'm sure that there are developers out there who would jump at the chance to do it. Bethesda's resurrection of the Fallout series, Fallout 3, was a commercial and critical success (despite being panned universally by RPG elitists) and showed the gaming industry that there was still a fanbase for 'old' game series. Leonard Boyarsky, one of the key designers on Arcanum is currently employed by Blizzard and is working on Diablo III.

Potential developers for an Arcanum sequel.

Bethesda. Oblivion and Fallout 3 were both major money makers for Bethesda and I'm sure Bethesda has the resources to bring us Arcanum 2. Of all the major developers I think Bethesda would be the best at capturing Arcanum's open world and sandbox gameplay, but at what cost? They're not known for their writing skills and Oblivion and Fallout 3 polarized fans of both series. If Bethesda could capture the magic of Morrowind and transfer that to a new Arcanum game I think it would be a success, but a dumbed down action game with crappy NPCs and poor writing would be beyond dissapointing.

Obsidian. Obsidian has become lord of the buggy and polarizing sequels. A cursory search will give you dozens of threads debating KotOR vs KotOR2, NWN vs NWN2 (okay, that one's a bit of joke), and Fallout 3 vs Fallout: New Vegas. Obsidian is a hit and miss developer (moreso than most). Arcanum 2 by them would either be utterly amazing or an unplayable mess.

Blizzard. Blizzard has more than enough money to blow on another game series. Once Diablo 3 and the remaining 2/3 or Starcraft 2 are out what will they have left to work on? Blizzard has mastered every gaming genre they've ever tackled, so I don't think it's stretch to think that they could create a solid sequel to Arcanum.

Bioware. Well why the heck not?

KotOR 3

Why? As a veteran of WoW, WaR, AoC, Lineage 2, and Guild Wars I can say unabashedly that MMOs suck and are blight upon gaming especially since everything is a knock off of WoW which is a knock off of EQ. If someone can make an MMO that isn't a grindfest, more power to them, but I'd rather pay once for my game and not have to deal with hordes of immature idiots with an infatution for 1337speak. With that sad, <explicit> you Old Republic and <explicit> you Bioware for making that game instead of KotOR 3. I doubt a single fan of those games was pleased to hear that KotOR 3 was ditched in favor of yet another gorram MMO and I refuse to call them RPGs because aside from Age of Conan not one of those games can really be called an RPG.

Will it be made? Hahahahaha, no. Maybe by Obsidian, but I seriously doubt it. Oh, and because I forgot to mention it earlier, <explicit> you Lucasarts.

Edit: These two aren't sequels, but hey...

Warhammer 40,000 RPG

Warhammer RPG, I adore the Warhammer setting. It is easily my favourite fantasy universe (sorry TES, but Oblivion soured you), so where the heck is damn RPG for this game? The biggest issue I see in making a Warhammer rpg, is where to set it. Warhammer is possibly the largest fantasy world and setting it in certain areas would really limit what you could do. Oh well, here's hoping.

With that wall of text over, what games would you like to see sequels for?

Freedom Fighters 2

Otogi 3

Any of the Baldurs Gate/Champions of Norrath games. Need more co-op (action) rpgs. Single TV, 4 friends, 1, keg, and lots of snacks = good times.

Beyond Good and Evil 2

Oddworld: Strange Wrath 2

Kabuki Quantum Fighter 2

Front Mission that goes back to being a turn based mech game and not an Admored Core type game.

I don't know about a direct BG sequel, but I'd love to see another well done Forgotten Realms game.

Gladius. The best game no one ever played

But no. Lucas would rather continue killing the dead horse that is the Star Wars franchise.

EDIT: Another Mech Warrior, but supposedly someone's making one. I just hope it's more Mech Warrior and less Mech Assault.

Sacrifice 2.

A new and proper Seven Kingdoms, and not that junk from last year.

But in the end, the problem with sequals to your favourite games.... They might just ruin your fondest memories.

Brutal Legend:

Why? Because it's awesome.

Will it happen? No, no it won't.

Splatterhouse (2010)

Why? Because the game is among the goriest on the market, it's awesome, and the ending leaves it almost neccessary to have a sequel, unfortunately.

Will it happen? It better, as I said the ending in the first one was disappointing as hell.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

A Sequel to the Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross games. Not making a sequel to those is a series WTF moment.

It's probably too old for some of the people here...

Also, a proper sequel/remake. I don't want a damn Wii rehash.

Was Arcanum really that good?

I really enjoyed Planescape, but I would not want to see a sequel. The story did not need one.

Sure the story didn't need a sequel, but surely a game in the same style and setting with some new characters would be worthy wouldn't it?

This is problem that I see a lot with games these days.... No one can let something rest when it's done, theres to many examples out there proving that sequals often do more harm then good.

I don't know. Nameless's story traversed the Planes (limited as the game was), time, and
the storylines of various characters. I don't really want something like Ender's Shadow
going on in the same universe.

Freelancer needs a sequel, bad.

So does Homeworld 2.

Other than those, the market is saturated with stuff.

I just want to add to the comments about Torment, the planescape setting had so many things you can do, I think a totally different story line with new improved graphics would be excellent.

But I would want them to go to Mechanus (home of the modrons) and Ysgard (home of the Norse pantheon) this time.

SofSE was the worst 30 dollars I ever spent.

As far as Planescape and Arcanum go I'd be happy to just see those games updated.

Compared to something like the Dungeons and Dragons Forgoten Realms maps the warhammer world is tiny and setting games in small areas of it has worked in the past for RPGs. Baldurs Gate, Never Winter Nights etc.

Baldurs Gate 3 incedently would be my choice.
