Hey all. I've seen a few of these "motivation" threads on here and I figured I'd start my own. Most of the stuff is going to be my guard, most of which is unpainted. If you didn't get it from the title there are more than 100 of them. I've never fully finished an army in the 7 years I've been doing the hobby, so this will be my first. There will be some other things mixed in when I get bored.

Here's a list of what is done, and isn't done (for my own sake mostly):

Done:
2x Leman Russ Demolisher
Leman Russ Vanquisher
Leman Russ Punisher
3x Chimera
Vendetta
Commissar
Priest
Techpriest
Infantry Squad
Marbo
Platoon Command Squad (Al'Rahem)
Platoon Command Squad
Hellhound

WIP:
Hardened Veteran Squad

Undone:
7x Infantry Squads
10x Heavy Weapon Teams
2x Penal Legion Squads
15x Storm Troopers
3x Sentinels
4x Servitors

So without further adieu:

Chimera

Leman Russ Demolisher

Vendetta:

Old pic of what the rank and file guardsmen are going to look like:

Inquisitor Cotaez:

Crusader:

Commissar:

Yea I know its almost been two weeks. Shame on me for not keeping with the blog spirit . But anyways, these two tanks were "done" 3 days ago, but I was too lazy to post them. So here they are:

There should be another update forthcoming shortly, maybe tonight if i get off my ass

Blue because I was starting Crimson Fists, then had an epiphany that marines were boring, but I was still stuck with all that blue. I like blue too, so that helps.

The weathering is done like so:

1. Wash rivets and recesses where water would collect with sepia
2. Heavy dry brush of bestial brown
3. Medium stippling of graveyard earth
4. Light stippling/dry brush of bleached bone.

I actually pretty much followed grey_death's article: http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Tank_Weathering

Thank you for all your kinds words. That's good motivation

More to come ASAP

Here's a bit more stuff to wet my own appetite. It's even more vehicles because the infantry is scaring me right now

This Forge World Hellhound was a bitch with all the sanding I needed to do:

And some other, less notable stuff:

Hopefully I'll get some paint on these soon.

The dorm is a bit of a mess. Me and my roommate share that table, and he is constantly tinkering with watches, so food has to be close on hand at all times so we don't have to get up, hence the Nutella.

But what's with all the shock and awe at blue Leman Russes?

I guess it's just because so many people go for camo or the dark, grim style that 40k has turned to in the last few years with guard especially.
I have to say again though, I am really liking your blues, with the weathering they are very "real" looking as opposed to cartoony

Well that would make sense. I do believe that dark grey/tan/black is really boring though, but that's me. I'm glad to have become such a trailblazer :p

Oh and DarthBob, your avatar is the scariest thing I've ever seen, just sayin.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Small update (holy crap its 4:30 AM). Time flies when you're sculpting. I tried a new way to add the "skirts" to my guard along with some extra armor plates since these guys will probably become carapace armored vets.

I, of course, mixed way to much green stuff and only got through 2 of these when the stuff became unworkable

The damn camera makes everything look sloppier...

Well here's some more work on the WIP model I presented earlier.

These guys are going to be carapace armored vets...if I ever get around to doing 10 of them since this one took me several hours to complete.

And a comparison shot with the normal rank and file:

Gotta love those Pig Iron heads though huh? I used them all through my Guard army as well, they really give the IG a sinister aspect that cadians don't have

It's been six days...I'm lazy. I only got that WIP chimera done. The construction isn't very good since this model is OLD. It's a kit from the really imprecise days of the pre-5th edition IG tank kits. I was even more impatient back then.

Otherwise I will be participating in a tournament on March 12 at Brother's Grimm Games in Eastern Long Island, NY. I would love to get my 1850pt list painted in time for the tourney, although that's highly unlikely (painting isn't required for the tourney).

Here's my intended list:

Vox-caster

The list isn't exactly the most competitive because I wanted to keep within the theme of my army (which I have in my head, hopefully I'll write it up eventually )

Otherwise here's the chimera:

Nice, love the weathering against the vivid blue base primary color- makes it very eye-catching.

As for the sheer mass you're taking on: You can do it!

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Well I participated in a tournament today, and I only finished my last chimera in time. I ended up placing middle of the road with a loss in the first match v. Raven Guard, a win in the second match v. Orks, and a draw in the third match against Space Wolves. All in all it was a good day though.

Here's the final chimera. I'm proud to say I only have one more Russ to go in my saga in vehicle painting.
