Hey Dakka,
So, over the past 3 days, I've realized something: I'm addicted to messenger bags.
Anyway, I was wondering if one of you fine Dakkanuts would like to help this Freshman find a messenger bag. It has bo be big enough to fit a couple binders and a laptop, but other than that, go nuts.
Thanks in advance,
Chowdah

The laptop, how big? Internal padding or BYO-padding?
The two that pops up in my mind right now, although they're not strictly messenger bags are the: http://se.thenorthface.com/tnf-se-en/equipment/daypacks/base-camp-fuse-box-1.html and http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/bagbuilder/custom-lex-pack
There's a little more organisation in the NF-bag. But both are essentually just two "sacks with straps" / equipped with a main comparment it echoes in if wander down. The Timbuk2 has no laptop storage in built and is preeeeeetty huge. I lived out of mine when spending a week in Germany last year.
The NorthFace is smaller, and is a bit better suited for EDC compared to the Timbuk. It also has a bunch of compressionstraps.

CRUMPLER! Not sure which bag can hold a laptop.
There's a specialty european bag that cuts tarp off trucks to
make each bag unique, but I'm not sure how big those are.
The crumpler I'm using is a soupandsalad. They probably
have larger ones.

There is no other.
I've had one for a year now, and I did a little test to see how much this thing can hold:
A 15" laptop
A University Physics textbook ( http://www.amazon.com/University-Physics-Modern-12th/dp/0321501217/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297299004&sr=8-1 specifically)
A Calculus textbook
The core set of DnD 3.5.
A few duotangs.
One binder.
A bunch of pencils.
A few novels.
And I still had more room.

You know there are forums and sites where all people do is show what fits in their bag?
How durable is that? I only want one if it comes with a monkey.

Is that because of my ruthless teutonic effiiciency, or is it because I look like a man who knows his way around a tin of 7p beans?

Is the man purse to keep your diapers in? LULZ. Just get a good quality laptop bag, You can even carry your Minis in it, as it can fit a couple of foam inserts.

Whatever you do, make sure that the zippers are strong, and that there is no velcro on it. Not many people used them at my high school, but be willing to pay for a decent one.
