Mine would have to be Aliens as it is one of the coolest films I have ever watched.

I remember watching it as a kid scared Gakless .

Event Horizon was a good favourite of mine as well.

So Dakka Dakka what is your Favourite Sc-fi movie?

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Favorite? It has to be...

Honestly go back and watch it. Better than all the other alien movies. I love me some Aliens, but man this one is great.

After that it would probably be these:

Aliens
Event Horizon
The Thing
The Empire Strikes Back
Serenity
Metropolis
Solaris (1972)
A Clockwork Orange
The Omega Man
Godzilla (1954)
Donnie Darko
Moon
Dark City
Independence Day (First Date with my wife, it has to be on here)
The Time Machine (1978)
Blade Runner

I better stop...

Event Horizon was awesome.

I prefer aliens over alien... guns > long slow periods of nothing happening.

I was going to call you on this, but then I realised i've been watching the directors cut of Aliens.

I'll still disagree though... Alien is clearly the masterwork....

At the moment i'm still loving District 9.

Although my favourite changes... from time to time...

Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.

For years Aliens was my favorite, but I was basing that off of the lifespan of a kid. As an adult, I clearly see that Alien is far superior. Of course this was a realization discovered only in the last year.

If Predator coutns then I'd add that. Its corny and terribly over the topic but epically cool.

Once again, hard choices to make and not sure if some would disagree with the choices falling into the correct category. Not necessarily in order.

Ghostbusters (sci-fi?)
Serenity + Firefly (TV series not a movie)
Predator
Starship Troopers
Star Wars
Tremors
Matrix
There are many more but I have already listed too many. I think the top 5 would always make my list though. I probably enjoy fantasy more than sci-fi though.

dwarfs, wood elves, dark elves, bretonnians, WOC,
space wolves, orks, eldar

The Matrix, should have probably been on my list too boogeyman. I can't believe I left it off.

Did you hear they are making 2 more?

with props for:

Animated: Ghost in the Shell

Comedy: 5th Element (comic editing was flawless)

I thought Logan's Run was a great movie, very 70's, but still a great movie.

I just read up on them on Wiki, sounds interesting.
Otherwise, too many to recall.

I... kinda like Black Hole by Disney way way back in the years...looks really low tech now

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
