Subject: The most upsetting/saddest moment in videogames
It's not very often you get a truly compelling storyline in a videogame wheree you truly care for all the characters and are desperate to do what you can as if it's real, although we are getting more of these now. I want to know of the most upsetting/saddest moment in videogames for you, including all the times you've cried (as long as there aren't hundreds of times you've cried you cry-baby).
here are mine:
COD 4: At the end:
Spoiler:
At the end, when everyone but you dies in the explosion. just watching Griggs die was already enough to have me welling up but then Gaz gets shot in the head after begging for mercy, then you get revenge thanks to Price and his gun but then you turn to thank him and see the cooest videogame character ever die, his last action being one to keep you alive. I was crying quite so much after this.
Dead Island: This game isn't even out yet, I pretty much cried while just watching the trailer, the very first trailer! If the game is this heart-wrenching it will be the greatest emotional ride in any media, not just videogames, ever.
Assassins Creed Brotherhood: At the end:
Spoiler:
When you are playing as Desmond and are forced to kill Lucy by the god people. I know, there were some clues that suggested that she's a traitor to you but even if it was confirmed i wouldn't want to kill her.
P.S: don't forget to use spoilers for yours as well.

At the end of the first starcraft and starcraft 2....
Spoiler:
When Tassadar dies in SC2, HE WAS MY MOST FAVORITE CHARACTER OF ALL TIME!
I also really liked the ending to SC2 Wings of Liberty, it was a very beautiful ending.
Then Halo reach
Spoiler:
When all the Spartans Died, I didn't like how they died, they died absolutely horribly. I only had a tear when Noble 6 died.

i noticed something in Halo Reach:
Spoiler:
First of all, the big dudes death upset but anyway; did the sniper guy die? he just went off with Dr. Halsey at the end and you don't find out what happens to him. I'm still hoping they'll release DLC for him and it could also explain where noble 6 was at end and how he got there.
Call me heartless, but not even the Dead Island trailer there touched me emotionally. I mean, in all truth, I just cannot get worked up over video games, probably due to the lack of me ever getting emotionally attached to ANY characters except my own. Even then, I struggle with feeling emotion for them when I can just "Go back" and play when they were alive. Simple...
Spoiler:
However, the only death that really hit me was that of Ben Carmine in Gears of War 2, I dunno, I always liked "The Squirt" the best... Kinda saddening, but, again, didn't hit me enough to draw out anything close to a tear.

Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

Well from what I understand
Spoiler:
No We don't know what happens to him, but it does say in the books that only like 12 Spartan II's and like 100 Spartan III's survived. He could of survived but I highly doubt it.

Hmm, in videgoames, not so much. I got very worked up in Mass-Effect 2 when some of my companions died in the final mission. I have never been so emotionally pulled.
In movies, there are two that really stand out. When Eastwood dies in Gran Torino, I cried quite a bit.
And, when Christopher Wallace was killed in Notorious. That had me more pissed off more than anything, but I cried and reminisced over my past for quite a bit after that movie.
I have had death play a large role in my life, in various ways. I think this is why I can relate a bit more to some of these characters.

Spoiler:
The Spartan III's who we assume are alive are from Gamma Company. Jun is from Alpha, and all known members except for Tom and Lucy are dead or MIA (most likely dead). Jun isn't mentioned at all during First Strike, probably because he didn't exist as a character when it was written, but that aside Jun is most likely dead as well. He isn't with Halsey and the Spartan II's in FS, nor is he mentioned. The best guess is that he either died protecting her, or got left behind at some point and would have been killed when the Covenant glassed the planet.
The most upsetting moment in a videogame I've seen in a very long time is in when they had a firesale of everyone in Halo 3.
Spoiler:
Watching Keyes' daughter get shot down brutally, and more importantly, the death of Johnson. When he decides to go down with the ship, it made me cry. I played all 5 Halo games, and this is the single most saddening moment I have ever seen in a game.

Jun's alive. Bungie's hinted at as much, and Nylund has said that he wants to talk about how it happened but it's tied up in continuity issues for the moment.
Call me crazy, but I've got a sneaking suspicion this is not the end of Jun

My dog in Fable II. I was just like "Wtf man, you shot my freaking dog... dude, that's just low."
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

bioshock 2 'good' ending (earned by saving all of the little sisters), first time i saw that particular ending, i cried, and i hardly ever cry because of books, games, or movies.
Having surrvived the entire mission, developed a growing trust between Eva and yourself, having (virtually) carried her through enemy territory, and finally spending quality time with her, she leaves you. She didn't want to. She loved you. But that was her mission.

When Ghost and Roach are burned, which if anything made me hate the game even more
Spoiler:
Yeah, I forgot about that one, I din't really care about my guy to be honest but when Shepard shot Ghost i got so pissed at him.
P.S I know Price is still alive as reevealed in MW2, but for those 2 years when ever I played that moment I couldn't help but cry.

Bioshock
Spoiler:
Yeah that was sad, but I think the first Bioshock Good ending was sadder. When it showed their hands ontop of his when he was on his deathbed...
Final Fantasy VI
Spoiler:
In an attempt at proving himself to Rachel's father, the character Locke went exploring a dangerous cave with his love Rachel.
However, a bridge was crumbling under Locke, and Rachel, out of love and devotion, rushed to save him. As a result, Rachel fell to her near death. Locke rescued her and took her home. He succeeded in nursing Rachel back to health, but she developed a case of amnesia, which forced her father to throw him out of their house, and the village of Kohlingen. Rachel agreed, because she lost her memory. There is a really sad sounding song playing the entire time.
MGS1
Spoiler:
Sniper Wolf's Death.
Shining Force
Spoiler:
How about then end of Shining Force when the main character has to leave and the girl gets left behind never to see the main character again.
What was disturbing about this though is that the girl (Mei) who loved the main character was a centaur (yes.. half woman... half horse.)
Final Fantasy VII
Spoiler:
when Sephiroth kills Aries in FFVII. It has been mentioned too much over the years, but I remember it being pretty sad.
Mass Effect
Spoiler:
When you have to choose between Kaidan Alenko and Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams.

I take it you never played all five suppressed memories (Cristina Memories) in that game?
I consider the fifth memory one to be much more heart rending than the final sequence of the game.
I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry Maria! I love you so much!
Spoiler:
They offered you the city... and you refused it. And what did you do instead? What I've come to expect of you. You saved them. You gave them the one thing that was stolen from them: A chance. A chance to learn, to find love, to live. And in the end, what was your reward? You never said it, but I think I know: a family.

Snake having to get to the final room to shut stuff down, you just feel bad for the guy being cooked alive, as well as the ending of the game made it that much worse.

Probably the most upsetting moment of the game was at the end when the Advisor kills Eli. That REALLY came out of left field, and left me wondering WTF just happened.
Chrono Trigger
Spoiler:
Chrono's death against Lavos. Especially on your first play through and you didn't know to get the Chrono Doll. Gone forever, annihilated by time.
Also: The final good ending where you have to say goodbye to everyone. Robo goes to a future that may not even exist anymore.
Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening
Spoiler:
Yes, let's have this beautiful land filled with people and music. The nightmare monsters you keep killing? They're trying to prevent you from waking up so you don't destroy the island, and erase everyone on it from existence. Also the Ballad of the Wind Fish is one of the most beautifully haunting melodies from any game.

Your mother's death, the sheer senselessness of it, just because she looked like somebody else. Closest I came to tearing up, and I'm usually quite heartless when it comes to character death.
