The next big Resident Evil for consoles, Operation Raccoon City, will take players back to 1998, the timeline of Resident Evils 2 and 3, except you'll be the bad guys, taking aim at hero Leon Kennedy as a member of a squad of Umbrealla Corporation goons.

Check out some new sights from the multiplayer squad-based game here. You're seeing a mix of the game's competitive team-based multiplayer and its campaign, which supports up to four players in co-op. The game will be out in the winter for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. I played it last week and will have more impressions of it soon.

Personally, I've sworn off Capcom games since this whole Dante/DmC debacle, but I figured other people would like to know.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Hey Capcom. 4 player zombie co-op has already been done. Try again.

And yes Capcom. I said that just to spite you.

Admitingly, L4D with Jill, Chris, Ada, and Leon would be pretty Badass.

Yes, it has been done before.

wiki wrote:The player chooses a scenario, difficulty level, and a character. The difficulty level is tied to what enemies and items the player encounters as they progress through the scenario. The game has five scenarios, each of which has an event checklist consisting of special actions that the player must perform to reach 100% completion. Upon doing so the player will unlock "Infinity Mode" in which all the player's weapons never break or run out of ammunition.

Oh Resident Evil...

The only thing that was ever scary about you was the idiotic angles that your camera would be fixed at. Now, Capcom, why don't you go catch a bad case of Nintendo and end the year with a multi-million dollar loss on your annual report?

Maybe then you'll realize you need to stop making crap. Doubtful, but possible.

Is your shelf sitting at a very uncomfortable, stupid angle that causes you to instinctively crane your head sideways so you can better see what you're doing whenever you use it?

Actually, yes it is, and I wish I was joking. You would think that after playing the Sims for awhile I would learn how to arrange furniture in my room. As a bonus I have a Me-109 hanging from my ceiling that looks like it may be attempting to strafe my WaW flamethrower guy.

Also, my WaW flamethrower guy has a golden flamethrower. Do you know how you get a golden flamethrower? You get 150 headshots with it.

How the Feth do you get a headshot with a flamethrower?

Fire at head level

Spray and pray probably works actually... I mean, if you put the head on fire, it's a head shot right

Skills, mad skills. Its kind of as pointless like putting headshots with the Chopper Gunner or Chopper Pilot killstreaks in Black Ops. I mean its a minigun that shoots explosives, headshots are kind of pointless.

This is a much better article.

I'll pull one bit from there to show you why this game has me sold.

Players won't only get points for killing opposing team members in typical deathmatch style, though. Points will also be rewarded for killing zombies, with more points being awarded for headshots, and larger creatures are worth even more. Another twist: when you're "bleeding out" and near death, undead creatures will "smell" it and swarm you because you're an easy target. Shooting opposing team members to the point of bleeding out and then allowing them to get ravaged can also earn you big points, as well.

So...you can zombiebait.

I have always liked the Resident Evil games. Heck I even liked RE5 (and my credibility just flew right out the window with that).

This one seems very different. I am hesitant because I usually like Solo games. I have missed every CoD game since the first one if that tells you anything. Maybe this will get me out of my shell...

This one seems like they're going for the SOCOM approach.

Crazy, since Slant Six(the makers of SOCOM) are doing it right?

The 'multiplayer' here will be less of "pow pow!" between two sides--and more of objectives and fighting between three sides.

I mean, simply having zombies present on the maps will alter the dynamic of the gameplay a lot from CoD.

Luna: if you're not playing through the Resistance games, you're missing some of the best content the PS3 has to offer right now.

That sounds pretty cool actually. I might finally give multiplayer a chance then.

Also Kanluwen is right about Resistance. The first one is missing a few key features though like frequent checkpoints, quick save, etc. If you are a hardcore player and you want a challenge then go for it. They are really good games.

I do want this game and will give it a shot but I am worried about a team up of Slant Six and Capcom. Slant Six made Socom Confrontation, FT Bravo3, and that tactical one. None of them i bother with and to be honest Socom is boring in my own opinion (for me, there are more entertaining games to be played). Plus, Capcom has been letting me down quite a bit with not-so-great releases.

I hope that this game doesn't suck because I have been wanting one like this for awhile (that is set in RE) but I am going to be skeptical about those who are putting it together. If worst comes to worst...I will always have battlefield (unless it gets delayed or something)

Considering the time this takes place, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't at least have a cameo.

Okay question though, this seems like a Team Fortress type game. Will there actually be a story or a campaign to it?

yeah, but they're not gonna do that.

It's just gonna be four generic "badass" white dudes.

Three badass white dudes.

And a chick named Bertha.

So I guess it should be four dudes

I was incredibly excited about this game, but then I just watched the gameplay trailer and I have to say, I am not all that impressed anymore. I think there will be a degree of "cheesy" in the game that I won't be able to get over. And why is Bertha wearing a skirt? A full black suit, with a skirt? The voice actnig this time around is on par with the 1st RE game. And the animations don't look all that great to me. They look.. I dunno, artificial. Stiff.

I still have hopes though. Lets see how it's handled...

Needing is wanting...

Coveting is Sinning...

Ah, good ole' Umbrella Security forces. My question is why the hell one of them is holding a zombie as a human shield? First of all contact with zombies is always a bad idea, secondly its not like the zombies are going to worry about coming after you if have one of them as a shield, thirdly the zombie is probably full of holes anyways so its a terrible shield.
