I am an ork player and I have a game vs my friend that is starting to transition to BA. He letted slip that he has MLoD that he jsut bought.

For those that does not know, he is worth 250 points and here are the stats:

How can you beat that?? Trow 40 boyz at him? Try to isolate him (trhowing 30 boyz, could survive for at least 3 to 4 turns)?? If any of you guys have experience aggainst that IC, feedback would be appreciated

Throwing a mob of 40 boyz at him will beat him. Will they kill him? Probably not. But he doesn't have to be dead to be beaten. If you stick him in a combat where he can't break you because of your stubborn 10 as long as you have enough models, he is out of the rest of the game. If he had hit-and-run like Dante, that would be a different story. But you only need to lock him up. Lots of melta-guns will do the trick too (Mephy doesn't like Fire Dragons from Eldar). But with your orks, I think the best bet is to throw that squad of 40 at him. He'll kill a lot of them, but not all of them and you take out his big threat if he is stuck in a combat he can't win in the amount of time he has.

well, thx, thats what I came out with, killing him looks like an impossible task as an ork.

is 2++ that he has??, I thought it was 2+, my gazkhull is in the mail, hope to get it soon. And he has invul I think does he not? Since MLoD has artificier armor?

Yea, the usual way I counter mephiston is throw an eternal warrior super character at him 1v1. Ghaz should do the trick.

He gets a 2++ save on his waagh, plus he has dozens of str 10 attacks.

He buffs it to an invulnerable save on the turn that the army declares its Waaagh!

Throw a large Boyz squad at him. They should kill him in about 3 rounds, while he is only killing 8 boyz a turn (including no-retreat saves).

Ah, I see you have run into the great Mephiston, Lord of Cheese! Not to worry, that block of chedder can be tied up easily with 30 boyz, can get his ass handed to him in a match with Ghazzy, and can be squigified with Zogwort. How satisfiying would that be? ....Squigfiston, Lord of gak...

lots of dakka at him from lootas and shootas, then tie him up with a large mob of boys, as already said.

charging him with Ghaz is also a wonderful option. eternal warrior, 7 attacks on the charge, wounding on 2s with a PF, and a 2++ for 2 rounds of combat will typically wreck anything in short order. Ghaz is actually a wonderful option for most all problems in the grim dark future.

You could always shoot him... He has no independent character, so ZZAP guns should work.

Zogwort can't get him, he can only squig independant characters. Remember Meph is not fearless, you multicharge him and another unit and wipe out the unit you can make meph break and just escort him off the table.

Throw a mob of 20+ boyz at him, watch as he takes 3-4 turns to beat you and your klaw will probably drop him

Ghazkull is a one Ork killing machine. Putting him in a unit during an assault makes him weaker. Most cases Ghazgkull is in a battlewagon with my Nobz but when they disembark they hit two different targets. He will take Mefistin's lunch money.

Mephiston has never been very hard for me to kill... hmmm...

do these boyz squads you have been throwing at him happen to have a nob with a powerklaw? Mephy doesn't have an invuln...

With a lasgun! lol. but the story is my friend was running him, and he moved to attacked one of my meltavet chimeras. The Chimera hit him with 3 ML and 3 HB. he saved it all but one. Then my vets poured out and shot him with their meltas. All three hit and wounded, and he didnt save. 1 wound left. Then the remaining 6 guardsmen and the sgt fired their lasguns. 7 hit. 1 actually wounded, and with a smirk he rolled to save, needed a 2+. As he was rolling he said to me "You know i'm going to kill those guardmen on my turn." He rolled a 1.

well, played my friend yesterday night, it took more than 30 boyz to kill the guy. When my 1st mob was at little under half stenght, I sent my 2nd mob of 30 sluggas w/ PK Nob to destroy the guy. So 250 points only took out around 160- 170. Boyz really are a total work around for everything, lol

Burnaboyz would do the trick as well. I dunno bout flame templates, that might work, but Im thinking more along the lines of assauting him. All those power weapons ignore his 2+. Sure youll lose a few burnas, but who cares, 4 burna boyz (5 at best) and I know you took 15 of them. So your left with 11 (10 if he charged) burnas to attack back? 22 power weapon attacks (33 if YOU got the charge, which is most likely, I doubt a BA player would willingly throw him away) just laugh as he gets plasma torched to death

Throwing a Ghaz, a boatload of Boyz, burna boyz, or hell, if alone a couple of Loota shots should be enuff to fell him in most circumstances.

I played a game the other day with a friend who flew his into a squad of boyz and them promptly killed 16 of them before my nob got to swing his PK and wiff, leaving the squad to be cut down.

Having a 20 strong boyz squad wiped off the board in one turn by a single dreadnaught makes me a sad warboss.

True it wont be walk in the park, but still you should be able to roll enough wounds to do some major damage. Also I dont think he will kill that much of them, not to mention it wouldnt be THAT hard to get them into assault with him

As for the deffrolla, you can deffrolla him sure, but he still gets his armor save with that. Its a d6 STR10 attack, there is no AP on it

Another solid option is to tie it up with another walker. Because it has lightning claws it only counts as S 6, and it only gets it's fancy extra attacks rolls when it specifically causes wounds, so it will never get any extra attacks against deff dreads or kanz.

Mephiston has no invulnerable save. T6 protects him from a lot, but anything S8 and ignores armour (like say, a power klaw) will murder him good and proper. Plasma and Melta too, but obviously orks don't get those. Resist the urge to attack with Walkers - Mephiston is S10 in close combat and will strike first with a heap of attacks.

But anyways, I would have to agree with the general idea of mass mobs of boyz or Ghaz.

Cos, ya know wat da boss sayz: "Ya can't keep a da good boyz down"

God damn I hate these threads. How do I kill Mephiston? seriously? a T6 IC that can't join a unit? With NO invul save? really guys?
