I like my film threads

As a kind of follow up to 'Best movie fight scenes'
What do you think the best/your favourite film endings are?

Right now, i'm thinking the ending of The Road, very emotional, very sad but also with a bit more positive moments right at the end.
What does everyone else think?

Right off the top of my head, my favorite film endings would be ...

Night of the Living Dead.
The Devils Rejects.
Reservoir Dogs.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

A recent one but definitely the best ending to a film EVER; a clear message, a denouement to the character arc, darkly funny and effortlessly cool. It isn't necessarily the best film ever (is still bloomin' good though) but you're a phillistine if you don't understand how great the ending is....

I really like the way Christopher Nolan ends his movies, there always very cinematic and are accompanied by a beautiful yet dynamic score (Thank you Hans Zimmer). The first two that come to mind are "The Dark Knight" and "Inception." I think I've watched the endings to these movies at least 50 times each on youtube lol.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Most of Michael Bay's "movies": "Oh holy Jebus! I am alive! Now to go and swim in ethanol and get a mind wipe to cleanse the horror!"

The point where the pain ends is always the best part.

The Usual Suspects. Hands down.

My dad rented it and watched it, all except the last few minutes (because my mom came home and she is a bit sensitive to violent movies). He said it was "pretty good" but didn't get it. I laughed my ass off when he told me.

Oh, and the end of the Scary movie that spoofed The Usual Suspects. Sgt Doofy did it!

Here is a few of my favorites:

The Thing (1982)

Spoiler:
A very chilling ending for horror movie, John Carpenter never let the audience in on exactly how the contagion was spread. The ending has only two survivors and the audience doesn't know if one or the other is The Thing. The last thumps of the moody score are enough to make anyone shiver with fear.

Back to the Future (1985)

Spoiler:
Has there ever been a call for a sequel on this scale before or after? I think the ending just absolutely begged for another movie. What if the movie had flopped? Not a chance. All seems right with Marty's world, until Doc Brown returns from the future to alert him of a troubling family issue. The stage is set for an eventual trilogy that continues to entertain to this day.

Dr. Strangelove (1964)

Spoiler:
You may remember otherwise, but the climactic scene where Slim Pickens rides the bomb down is not actually the ending of Strangelove (though even if it were, it would still be a pretty damn good ending). However, there is a scene afterwards in which the leaders of the free world wait for the end of the world while having a demented argument about how to survive the impending nuclear winter ('We must not have a mine shaft gap!'). Then, signaling apocalypse, Peter Sellers' titular mad scientist, wheelchair-bound for the entire movie, stands up and begins to walk, before the War Room (and the rest of the world) explodes to the tune of 'We'll Meet Again.' It's all weird but absurdly logical, like everything about Kubrick's masterpiece.

I REALLY enjoyed skylines ending. When I saw those names start scrolling, I felt like I let out one of those big farts that was hurting your stomach, but now the pressures off so everything is so much better?

Seriously, I read the SKYLINE thread when the movie came out and I heard all the bad people said about it....but I normally dont believe others.....god I wished I had listened

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I will try for a definitive answer:

The best film ending is the ending of the worst film you had to sit through.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.
