Looks good, finally PP make the move to get similar starter as GW on the shelves. Menoth army including cinerators is a bit bummer, but I guess they look nice on the table which is reason on it's own.

Looks like I'll be getting the cygnar and skorne solos along with plastic sentinel for my projects.

I wonder what kind of money they will be asking for that box set?

Pulling this number out of my ass, but if I had to guess I'd say around $100-$150. Would probably say towards the lower side, though, seeing as the intention is to get new players into the game with it.

Well the battlegroups are $50 each and the cinerators seem to be $45, so I think it would be pretty close to $150 for the box.

It´s not certain if the Hordes models are Solos. Jarl Skuld, for example, is a Warlock.

I'm from the future. The future of space

*tears of joy*

I'm going to get a little rulebook off of eBay.

Finally!

And I could seriously see myself splitting one with someone who wants to start a Menoth army and have a nice 20 point start to a Khador army.

As for cinerators, I think they're underrated. Every time I've fought against them, they've given me trouble. Whether I was playing Legion, Cryx, Mercs or Cygnar.

When it comes to Bastions being better, I think it's just that I tend to hit them with anti-jack weapons and it just makes more sense for the player to let the target die than split up that much overkill damage. I guess if someone loaded up on POW 10-12 weapons Bastions would be better.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Good move Privateer!

I will definitely be splitting this battlebox and taking the Khador.

Definitely interested in the Skorne guy. Maybe a new caster or perhaps a new solo.

I wonder why they are bothing with a two player starter set? The ones they offer seem the way to go to me - that way both players can choose their own favorite faction.

Nice to see some more plastics finally coming down the pike from them though. I wonder if the man-o-war shocktroopers from the starter set will be released seperately at some point?

I think the two player starter is happening because retailers want it. They ended up doing the two player start for Monsterpocalypse last year because retailers wanted a "complete game in a box" version of the game.

I would LOVE it if Privateer goes all loss leader on the starter box. Imagine it at $100.

That´s what I´ve been wondering myself. Why bother with a 2 player starter set? Sure, it´s a bigger starter army than the battle boxes and the mini rule book is included.

Well, depending on the price I might get it. I own neither any Cinerators nor a Vanquisher yet, and the Crusader can be used for a character kit. And Kador is among those armies I might want to start as well.

The starter will have a mini rulebook in it. I hope hope you can get that separate somehow so I can throw it in my bag.

P.S. New released posted more than a week in advance?! Theyre doing it wrong!

Whoa, that two-player battlebox looks like an awesome deal, especially with all the new players expressing interest in starting the game, and for people who are curious about starting either of those armies (Protectorate was what caught my eye - I'm starting with Cryx right now, and plan on working on them first to get used to the game, but I really do like the look of the Proct. models, a LOT.) Not to mention a mini-rulebook, which is pretty great to have at the table.

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.

It's complicated."

Do we really know it's a male? I mean it's only a name, could still be a female for Thagrosh's pimp hand. Although I imagine he's rather distracted with having Everblight turning him into a mini dragon and all.

At any rate it's going to be an expensive year with two expansions so close together!

I am not sure if chosing Menoth for the starter was a good idea: Those Warjacks are ugly. Khador vs. Cryx would have been much better.

*gasp*
Heresy against the Creator of Man?

Anyway, my guess is simply that they wanted similar army builds. Warcaster + bunch of Jacks + Med base infantry unit.

I´m not that into Cryx or Cygnar, but what med based infantry units do they have? Only one I can think of are the Black Ogrun from Cryx.

No Retribution as usual.

Also wondering if Hordes will ever get the same treatment.

Cozy cockpit of an Archer ARC-5S

Cygnar versus Khador would've been better, nothing like the good old red versus blue thing going on. But won't complain, sounds like an excellent excuse to break into yet another gaming system.

Cygnar vs Cryx would have been the ideal starter races I think, though that may be my GW conditioning of expecting the good ol boys in blue in the starter vs the evil of the month. As is, I think it's Menoth vs Khador simply on the bases of those are the two factions with plastic troops right now, and none of the other Warmachine armies have plastic troops.

Eh? That's only a thing from 4th and 5th. 3rd and 2nd didn't use the boys in blue(it was Black Templars and Blood Angels respectively), and rumours say 6th won't either.

Well, ok, so technically they weren't always blue, but they were always Space Marines.

Delicious starter set! Wonder how much it is though, way more content than two normal battle boxes
