I have an all metal army (Mordian IG), but I bought the Finecast Lord Commissar, and it was a good cast with no flaws. However, I much prefer the weight of metal models, so I'm more of the "Meh" and "Don't like it" club.

I love the new fine cast models. Details and the fact if I drop them, no need to repaint the chips. Does liking it have to be lumped in with lking the prices though? Whilst I'm not angry about it, I still don't like it

I went with the "meh" option. I actually prefer metal over this new material, sure plastic is nice for conversions but converting a metal model simply requires a little more patience in most cases. Hybrid kits on the other hand, need to be launched at the sun.

Having not assembled FC yet. I hate pinning metal models or having models that were mix of metal and plastic (tau broadsides) and having pieces come off and they take alot more time to get the glue to set right. I like the idea of not having to pin and assembly should hold alot better. I don't like the price increase but it is probably worth it over the headache of repairing metal models.

Eh.
I'm a metal kind of guy when it comes to heroes and such. So I'm sad to see restic and a price increase.
Decisions like 5 Wracks for $33 was just... who does that?
However, changes like the Nurgle Daemon Prince, with a major improvement in construction and only a minor increase in price, is what GW should have aimed for.

I really have been happy with finecast. I will have to make a return or two. I feel that the quality control should have been MUCH better in the initial launch. I'm concerned that the only "like" option you provided us includes the price. No one likes the price of these models. Everyone would prefer they be comparable or cheaper than metal. I'd rather work with these any day and I'll deal with the pricing, at least until next year's increase. Who knows what they'll do next year.

I hate it. *crowd gasps in shock* Let me qualify my statement: I don't hate resin miniatures. I own plenty of them - Forge World, Scibor, Antenociti's Workshop, Micro-Art Studios, Maximini, Chapterhouse Studios, and so on - so while I prefer plastic miniatures above all others I don't have some bias against resin. GW can make all the resin they like and it wouldn't change my opinion of them or resin at all. What I truly despise though is the concept and execution of 'Finecast', this mythical nonsense product that is nothing but a cost-cutting measure for GW pretending to be the greatest gaming revolution of all time. GW changing from tin-based metal miniatures to resin-based miniatures is a logical no-brainer in the current economic climate. Tin is going up. Resin isn't. Change to resin. Really not that difficult to comprehend. And if it was just that, I wouldn't care. But no, GW has to go and turn it into event, use more hyperbole than even I am capable of to talk it up as this miniature war gaming revolution, raise the fething prices, and then put out a sub-standard product with virtually no QA. I'm used to shoddy resin results from GW - as I said, I own a lot of Forge World and miscasts and a lack of care for their products comes with the territory - but FW don't try to shovel gak down my throat and tell me they make the greatest miniatures that have ever been made, nor do they try to convince me that this is a big leap forward in basic miniature design. This is just a cost-cutting measure for GW, it's been released badly with miscasts a'plenty, and they've gone and poured salt into the wound by raising the prices (at the same time as other companies are doubling the contents of their resin products). It is a deplorable, contemptible and cynical cash-grab by a company that has nothing but disdain and scorn for its own customer base. May the marketing fether who came up with 'Finecast' rot in hell.

Well the option isn't there but personally I don't really care. I've never bought metal unless I absolutely had to and it will be the same with finecast, anything that would have been metal (or now fine cast) I'd try to convert myself so it dosen't really affect me.

How can I bludgeon to death my opponents now? It's too obvious it I bring a lead pipe with me. I'd much rather chuck a nice sized Daemon Prince or Dreadnought at an opeponent and never have them see it coming.
Now Firecast models just bounce off their thick skulls and float away, thus making me buy more Finecast. :(

I've only held one fine cast in my hand. It was the Techmarine with servitors box. I looked over all of the pieces and didn't find any bubbles or mis-casts. The flashing wasn't bad, either.
So, 1 for 1 in my book.
Resin is SO much easier to work with than metal, so I'm hoping the quality stays high.

I picked door #2. I like the idea of resin better than metal, and if it really is more detailed then that's great, but you just gotta be careful and look carefully before you buy it and make sure there's no misscastings. I'm hoping the miscast debacle quality control stuff will improve over time...

I hate it. I wasn't exactly a fan of metal and was actually a little interested when the rumor about changing to resin turned out to be true, but after a price increase rolled out with the change and the models turned out to be the most shoddy-looking pieces of crap I've ever purchased, I'm not happy and I won't be buying any more. Especially not if I can't inspect them beforehand through blisters (and even then you're not really safe), or GW releases an official statement ensuring that the problems have been ironed out and quality has improved, and feedback on the internet proves as much (which will never happen since GW never makes mistakes and everything they sell is high quality, right?).

I don't like it for the same reasons as said above. The only reason I don't hate it is because the extra details and less weight are quite nice. Otherwise, I'm still looking for metal models.

I hate their marketing of it and head-in-the-sand 'oh it's super awesome' mentality. If they'd just said, 'it's lighter and easier to work with' and left it at that I'd have no real complaints. I've had minor issues on all my finecast, nothing that would've bothered me if GW hadn't told us that it was the be-all end-all to miniature quality.
If I had never heard a single official talking point, I'd be pretty happy with it.

I went with "I think it's ok", although I don't really see the difference between that and "Meh" (As an aside, when doing a poll try to avoid responses that overlap. There are a three or four categories that could be merged IMHO).
Anyway, I have bought one Finecast model (Vampire Coubtess) and have no major issues with it. There were some tiny bubbles on the hand and the sword was bent which I yet to rectify (tried the hot water thing but it bent back again afterwards).

I hate it, and I think GW should go back to metal.
Last Saturday I went to my local official GW store. The two guys in the staff are very nice, so I always chat a bit with them. I was in doubt wether I should buy the new Haemonculi and the Wracks for my army. I chose a blister where the Haemi looked ok. And for the Wracks, we opened right there 3 boxes. All the 3 boxes had miscasts in them. They chose the better casts for each mini, and offer me to buy it. I did, and now I have 5 Wracks and a Haemi that look pretty cool. But I'm not buying more Finecast. 3 boxes that should be returned, that was all the stock the store had! They had returned more boxes of Wracks. That never happened (to me) with metal or plastics. I bought my first GW metal blister around 1995 or 1996, and since then, I remember every time that I have had a miscast. I remember them because of their rarity.
If you are curious about this:
- Crom the Conqueror, having the spike in his knee miscasted (metal)
- The two halves of Eltharion's metal griffon, I'm unable to make them fit (metal)
- A couple of lesser bits of a Terminator Chaplain missing (metal)
- A melt rocket in a Whirlwind (plastic)
- A missing wheel in the older Ork Truck model (plastic)
5 failures in about 15 years, and two of them are packaging issues. With Finecast, the first 3 boxes I open, all to be returned.
No more Finecast for me. I hope GW will make more plastic. I really love the new plastic sorcerers for the Storm of Magic. I'll buy the two Chaos Sorcerers for my WFB army, and probably the other two just because they are cool. I wouldn't buy any of them if they were Failcast.
Edit: I forgot it: aside of the miscasts, there are more things I don't like. I can separate bits with my fingers. It's OK if you want to, but it also means that the minis can be broken too easily. I don't like how easy they bent. And the fact that repositioning them is easy with hot water isn't something that appeals me too. Do you guys know how hot is the weather in Spain in the summer? I better keep my Wracks in the shade.
Edit 2: I might have to add this: I'm not normally a big fan of resin. I own only two minis from other brands (Studio McVey and Kingdom Death).

Disclaimer - Have limited experience with metal models, no experience with resin, and haven't handled a Finecast mini outside of its blister. Everything in this post is theory, conjecture, and anecdotal evidence provided by the interweb (with typical FANBOI/RAEG filters installed).
On weighing the pros and cons of each major point of the new material, I'd sit in the middle:
Weight - good for transport and topple-resistance, loses a touch of that weighty "special character" feel.
Consistency - easier flash removal and chopping up for conversion, more sensitive to the bite of a file or a slip of the blade.
Resilience - minor accidental flexing should spring back, but I've heard reports of major material breakdown in heat.
Pretty lukewarm, then, on the material shift until I hear more evidence on the melting model issue. I put myself in the "don't like" camp, however, for two reasons: First, I do honestly like the feel of a metal model. I wouldn't ever need that many in a given army, so I wouldn't mind lugging them around, either, and I've very comfortable working with metal, generally. Second is the PR. As much as I hate to jump on the GW hate-wagon, I know that positive spin is what PR is all about but it feels like there's a crowd of suits snickering in the corner ("I can't believe they bought that line!") every time someone shells out for a model.
