Boosting Space Marine Biker
|
I've started a White Scars army and from what I've seen they have to have the least fluff of the 1st founding chapters. ok well this would be excluding the lost legions which cant count due to the fact that their stuff is locked up in some supper secret vault never to be released unless of course GW lets Ward play codex destroyer. . . again. So i guess my big question is how other chapters compare. From what ive seen all the others seem to at least have a decent to large amount of fluff to enjoy. There's barely anything about the Scars Primarch and the only note worthy special character is Kor'sarro and he really doesn't have much fluff to follow him either. please let me kno if I'm wrong and if so direct me to some good fluff about them.

The Blood Angels. The codex is full of fluff, even at the weapon entry. Most fluffed army.

I agree. Do you ever hear of their Primarch? Nope. White Scars are disappeared. But in my eyes they seem very fitting for their own codex. Speed-based Japanese? Thats surely different from Ultra's

pretty much any chapter that isn't already a codex by itself, ultramarines, salamanders, imperial fists and crimson fists.
stuff that gets a mention like the white scars, relictors and such get a little fluff in their C:SM character entries or in the tiny little boxes in the book that isn't dedicated to the Ultramarines. but generally, most of the chapters are created when needed and almost completely ignored from then on. take the astral knights for instance. one entry, they then commit mass martyrdom to kill a Necron death star and a few space marines from various chapters guard their tomb. that's it. I'm sure there's a chapter colour scheme somewhere but that's probably about it.
i think the most over fluffed chapter has to be Ultramarines, just because they've been the flagship chapter for so long so alot of fluff gets written about them.

Yes, the Ultramarines have to much fluff. Oh, and the tomb for Astral Knights was made by Blood Angels, and is also guarded by them

Yeah, there isn't much on the poor old Scars, although as GW seem to be dragging the HH series of novels out quite a lot, there may well be a book devoted to them, who knows?
Personaly I like the lamenters fluff and wish there was more, those guys just aren't very lucky!

to call them speed based Japanese is wrong though. the White Scars are much more Mongolian since Khan is a term used to describe Mongolian leaders. besides the tactics used by the mongolians in our history are the inspiration for the Scars. Even their homeworld is described as steppes which is a common word used to describe the Mongolian homeland

The Iron Hands are woefully under-represented, especially for a First Founding Legion.
Yes, they got a look in in Fulgrim, but not one special character in 5th Edition's 'Everyone Gets A Toy' Codex? Barely one set of special order in coversion parts and not a single bit of fluff?
There's tonnes of White Scar stuff by comparison. Characters in the Codex give you an alternative army build, you can take Korsarro Khan and the entire Space Marine Battles: Hunt for Voldorius is about them.

I have to say the Raven Guard have to be the least fluff wise founding legion, I mean you get alittle fluff from Shrikes profile but other then that there tactics, force org, command structure, exploits, battles, etc are somewhat of a mystery. To me they seem to be a combination of Blood Angels with taking alot of assault marines and jump packs, but yet like Dark Angels with plenty of bikes and land speeders, and also scout heavy

And to say that they're a combination of Blood Angels and "taking a lot of assault marines" is wrong from the very beginning.
They utilize Assault Marines, but they don't field entire forces consisting of Assault Marines. The Raven Guard are, putting as bluntly as possible, extremely similar to the Dark Angels' way of war. They utilize Scouts and Tacticals to a heavy degree, with those forces acting as 'perimeter security' for a battle. When the battle reaches its tipping point, the trap is set and baited and it's only a matter of time until the enemy springs it and gets Assault Squads striking at them from ambush, Devastators ripping them to shreds from concealed positions, and Scouts begin severing the command structure from afar.

Hmmm Iron hands are pretty close but we find out quite a few nice nuggets in Fulgrim, We find out about:
the deathworld climate of Medusa
that the first company terminators are called morlocks
a little about the temperament of the legion
a bit about the Iron Fathers
that they come from a culture simillar to fenris
plus a better image of what Ferrus Manus was actually like.
what do we know about the white scars?
that they come from a tribal feral world where there are lots of steppes, plains and wide open spaces.
thats me all used up on my scars knowledge

yeah but its still only 4 pages. compared to the ultramarines 50,000 pages. When talking about the chapters with most under fluffed it has to be the Scythes of the Emperor and the Iron Hands, and White Scars.

You know, there are dozens of chapters out there that only ever receive a small mention in a novel or in a rule book that we know absolutely nothing about. The White Scars at least have a series of novels dedicated to them. In fact, I'm currently reading one of them, give "Savage Scars" a read, it ain't the best, but its palatable.

The scars do have a couple books for them but thats much less fluff and more a story. Anyways Savage Scars is only half Scars and the other half a story of a rouge trader and then it also puts in a few dabbles with the tau and then also a few chunks about the inquisition. The Iron hands have a pretty good amount of fluff over on http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Hands
the Emperors Scythes I've barely even heard of them but their not 1st founding so don't count.

Iron hands for sure. They're the only 1st founding Chapter to have not been given a special character (named special character, the MotF is supposed to be some kind of nod to the Iron Hands), but yet the Crimson Fists got a special character just because they had some sort of accident on their homeworld. Bah.
I personally would love more info and fluff on the Iron Hands, though the White Scars could use it too.
Meh, Ultrasmurfs get all the attention when we all know the Imperial Fists and Salamanders are far more epic and awesome.
