I've heard absurd numbers about SoB from different people. Are they all metal models or what is the deal? And how pricey would it be for someone to get about a good 2500 points of them? Just wondering because my buddy is about to get himself into 40k and decided on Sisters.

Make him wait a bit, they are scheduled for new releases.

They are all metal and prohibitively expensive. They're $17.25 for three - yes, three troops with just bolters. Considering that's about 33 points, well, you can do the math. Tell him to wait until the plastics come out at some point in the next 12 months.

If anyone knew it would have been posted. There's been some murmurs and distant rumors saying within the next 12 months, but nothing more concrete than that.

Alright thanks for that. Do you have any idea how sisters are going to be after the White Dwarf update? I thought the plastic sets are to be released after the White Dwarf update soon. Are they going to be competitive again or whats the deal with them?

Bare minimum, 2 troops choices, one HQ choice:

3 Battle Sisters, $17.25
3 Battle Sisters, $17.25
3 Battle Sisters, $17.25
1 Sister Superior, $12.25
3 Battle Sisters, $17.25
3 Battle Sisters, $17.25
3 Battle Sisters, $17.25
1 Sister Superior, $12.25
1 Canoness, $15.00

This is ~300-400 points depending on how the Canoness is kitted out. No special weapons, no heavy weapons, no vehicles. $143. Special weapons or imagifiers are purchased extra, at $9.90 per model for special weaons, $13.25 per model for Imagifiers, $14.00 for heavy weapons. Each of these is also merely one model each. Seraphim are $12.25 per model, minimum five per squad. Exorcists are $57.75, Immolators are $35.00, Rhinos are not available in Sisters flavor (you must purchase them from the Space Marine section and then purchase Sororitas doors and iconography from Forgeworld, or purchase Immolators and not use the turret).

No new models are coming with the WD update.

Spartan 117 wrote: Are they going to be competitive again
Immolator spam is likely the only way they'll be remotely competitive. Even then, Marines will very likely do it better.

There's a hefty thread in the news and rumors section about the Sisters WD codex. The rules for them aren't really making waves to put it bluntly, although we'll have to wait for next month's issue for more rules to really discover how good or bad the new codex is. The WD codex has pictures of the metal models in it and no rules for anything new whatsoever. There's no chance of plastic Sisters coming out until they get a "proper" codex release.

I was talking about the release with a GW employee, he hinted that they would be released alongside the codex in plastic. So that's your best bet at the moment, waiting it out. Other than that, seraphim look like they'll be an awesome unit!

Well yeah, when a real codex comes out it will come out with plastic models; that is a given. The WD codex is coming with nothing.

I bet there still on there though. After all I do have a Steel Legion army that I put together years ago so I know all about dealing with metal models. I kinda know most of the tricks.

Lol not really. Hopefully I can get him to get those box sets per say?

If he wants to do this now, have him look on ebay. I'd suggest waiting to see what happens and get a small army from another race to learn the rules and play with while he waits.

There's a few lots of Sisters on eBay, but they're all climbing in price. His best bet would definitely be there or Dakka's own swap shop though.

Starting SoB now would be really costly. My GF picked them as her starter army and decided to switch to Dark Eldar for the time being. It became too costly for her to try and find everything she wanted and then became scared that things may change with the next Codex. So she has moved into the "wait and see" mode with them.

The current Sororitas metal models are excellent. So if your buddy has enough money or gets them for a reasonable price on ebay/bartertown/dakka-swap-shop , that is fine. The 10-Sororitas-box wasn't there when the Codex was released and won't be there when the next Codex will be released. New plastic sororitas might change the look a bit (rumours about a nun "veil"), will certainly get more options, but I am not sure if they will get cheaper than metal. Personally I will most likely mix units of old and new design. And the current tanks are awesome.

Noone knows when the new Codex will be released, maybe in 6 months, maybe in a year in 6th edition.

A solid 2500pts should run more than 1k$.

My 2500 list http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/386605.page would run about $1,127.50 retail (luckily, when I got them they cost less, and they were still carried by online retailers). Just some numbers for your question.

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool...

You know, I wonder if new SoB models would be different than what they have now. I didn't see any unique looking models in the WD.
Would be a huge shame if they had the same sculpts, just plastic-ized

GW would really piss off a bunch of players if they made new sculpts for an all metal army that someone had.

I was thinking the total opposite. For someone who's been waiting a decade for a new codex then finally, you get a ward dex and not even a new sculpt so you still end up playing drag queens of battle.
