...Or is the spelling getting worse in here? Over the past week or two, there seems to have been a fairly significant upswing in the number of atrociously-constructed posts. Ok, so we can't reasonably expect every post to be grammatically 'spot-on' all the time...

...But spelling? Come on. Surely we can do better than this:

From my experiance people who dont belive in something e.g god , allah or whaterver...

I'm an aethiest...

...I went to a Chatholic primary school...

That's just one one page, in one thread. I could go on and on...

Mods - please start punishing persistently shoddy posters more heavily. Posters who frequently litter their posts with spelling mistakes and bad grammar make reading this wonderful forum such a drag, and there's no excuse for it. It's against the rules, and you know how seriously I take those.

Yours Expectantly,

The Albatross

xx

" Normal"?..now that's a word I don't often associate with the OT...
But yes, soon we can get back to bickering without having to sort through to much clutter.

Damn kids, posting on our forums. It is frankly intolerable! That and Summer is pretty much over down in Wales, it's bloody cold again.

I have noticed it. I prefer full sentences and good grammar and non spammy posts, but some people do not follow that :(

But anyway I have noticed this, I cannot believe teenagers don't know how to use grammar. /sarcasm off

A spelling mistake or grammatical error every now and then is not worth getting upset over, that's just the internet. But the posters who consistently litter their posts with poor grammar and spelling and then when corrected by another poster say, "I don't care." Those are the ones who need to be given vacations from the forum.

Agreed. We all do it now and then - though I usually go back and correct any mistakes, should I notice them. But people doing it constantly boils my piss.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I think people that take obvious and forced pleasure in pointing out a poster's errors and that do so in a rude manner should have a similar vacation to be honest, and it happens regularly with a free pass.

It IS possible to correct someone or point out an error without being a dick about it, but you wouldn't think so based upon typical examples...

I generally keep to an " If I can understand what the poster is trying to convey" rule of thumb, but I admit that the " Spammy.ramble/ look at me/poorly worded" post do occasionally get under my skin.

Probably work

It's OT. The only spelling mistake made was yours in that you mistook there being any level of expectation on the accuracy of the speling of those within.

By the way: Completely intentional.

Bad spelling may be on the increase during the summer (which I guess that was that week a while back when it didn't rain here), but terrible grammar is forever a woe on internet forums. Eugh, is it really that difficult to learn the proper use of "what" and "which"?

Do people post via their texting and phoning appliances? I wonder sometimes if errors are partly due to using those things.
