Kingdom of death has some new limited run miniatures. YMMV on how you view them. They are 35mm scale I think

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Oh! That's where babies come from!

Either way, the "Sunstalker Infant" is a great model that doesn't seem inappropriate in any way.

To follow a cliche, it's a great 40k Nurgle Daemon.

There are decidedly few models where I look and just think to myself "what's the appeal?" and come up with nothing. The blob vomit thing has some well sculpted areas but ugh. Not as gross as that wet nurse at least. I'm kind of curious what people use these figures for, whether for D&D monsters or some obscure wargame.

First the good: the handmaidens don't look too bad, and I like the one holding the baby.

Now the bad: I don't like the monster itself and I don't like the guy's market strategy. The Wet Nurse at least looked like it made a certain amount of sense in whatever strange universe it inhabited - like some eldritch abomination patron saint of babies. The Sunstalker Infant only has like three features and one of them (the coat of arms) is completely incoherent.

Alright, wtf is this...seriously? You know I'm starting to think the big evil dude in armor is the one who looks out of place in this universe.

The chick in the vomit compels me to say this: "Damn...I'd still hit it, though."

Sunstalker infant makes a little more sense with the background they've posted for it:

Sunstalkers are creatures that manipulate and swim through light, shifting the colors of the spectrum at their whim. A tribe of humans began to worship a very ancient Sunstalker as the sun itself when it stepped down from the sky to rest on a mountain top. Countless generations and centuries have past and a strange human & monster relationship has emerged. The human culture tends to the young spawn, feeding it with a combination of food and ritual sacrifice. Only the fairest of maidens are selected for the horrifying honor of being a caretaker and not many survive the creatures period of infancy.

In an attempt to create a lasting relationship between the human and monster, the child of a mighty sun warrior is umbilically attached to the young sunstalker. A highly dangerous practice that occasionally results in a symbiotic link between man and monster. Sometimes the human child gaining some of the creatures strange ability to manipulate light.

The write-up for the Butche is quite cool, too:

The Butcher is the remains of a Forsaker swallowed by long years of wrestling with the primal rage that gave him power. Nothing remains of the man, just a mess of flesh clinging to the insides of the Forsaker's armor, animated by nihilistic fury to destroy on the road through oblivion.

The Butcher collects the lanterns and skinned faces of his victims, a perversion of the humanity that echoes inside its near hollow armor.

The Butcher is a nemesis monster, that constantly stalks the players and grows with their power.

Okay, it "swims through light". Got that.

They link a kid to it - right, got that.

Still doesn't explain...What the FETH is with the weird-ass face, vomit, and multitude of hands?!

Wet nurse was disturbing, this thing is just that...an incoherent...thing.

I'm with Padre: it only answers questions we weren't asking.

Edit:
I actually think that background makes it worse. Before, we thought they were taking care of an ugly, disgusting creature with no apparent redeeming features. Now we know that they are taking care of an ugly, disgusting creature that eats people with only a single unreliable redeeming feature, because they are idiots.

I...didn't even get that part, honestly. lol...

But yeah, I kinda liked the wet nurse because it was disturbing, and in a good way. In my personal opinion this thing just looks dumb. It has big floppy dog ears made of hands, come on.

Perhaps someone watched too much Eraser Head?

The only excuse I could think of is that their designer must have had a dartboard full of ideas like "hot chicks" and "lots of arms"

Yeah.

They've got some amazingly creepy stuff ... the wet nurse, the Gorm ...

They've got a few good models for 40k conversion, their preacher, for example. Or maybe the lions, if you were running a 'lions' flavored Space Wolves build.

Some good fantasy stuff though.

Just like the Wet Nurse model, if they sold the girlies seperately I'd buy a couple of packs, but not as a complete model as I have no use or desire to paint it. But I'd love to paint the girlie models.

These ones are better than the Wet Nurse ones as they have the Anime feel and look to them which I really like. Thank God for Sodapop!

One of the things I like about KoD is that they come up with truly original designs, and the designs are rare entries in the world of miniatures to create a nightmare image of chaos and confusion distilled into a physical form. In a world where 'alien' too often just means a fantasy archetype with a zappy gun and where 'demonic' just means scowly with pointy horns, Kingdom of Death creates miniatures that could truly count as alien and demonic. And while players often find themselves fixated on details like the nudity or the vomit, it's the main mini's relationship to its attendants that really conveys the horror of them.

I don't have the kind of time or money right now to just buy large, artistic miniatures like this And I may never actually spring for a KoD mini. But like Maelstrom and their Banebeasts with man-bits, I'm damn glad that someone has the courage to make these minis. They may not be your cup of tea, but that doesn't make them bad.

Now THIS stuff is the finecast.

Tell me again, why GW can't manage this?

I especially like these two. Not a big fan of old puking floppy eared pokimon, but these other girls are pretty tight.

Question- HOW do you sculpt, then cast in this sort of quality, without the air bubbles and warping?

What's with the vomit? Seriously. I understand that it's supposed to be some sort of weird creature. So while the hands on the back of it are weird. they're still understandable. The sculptor just wanted to make it look weird. But what's up with the thing spewing vomit all over one of the female attendents?
