First ever vehicle I ever owned and painted... I think I went nuts on the detailing side to compensate on the modelling side (I sorta screwed up with the assembly. Oh well). Hope you guys like it!

Some details on the freehand:

I was aiming for the stylistic, Byzantine art, so even though I was tempted to paint them more realistically, it wouldn't fit the theme.

More details and other stuff can be found in my gallery. Please vote!

Love the Paintings on the sides and front, don't think it fits in the grim dark but hay, I not a fluff frenetic.

Great paintjob and Great Weathering 8/10

The freehands are very well executed (although they are a matter of personal taste).

But I think you went overboard with the mud.
A little less would have been fine as well.

I don't think that it was 'just' mud if you know what I mean... trenches... guardsmen...

Mud is that abundant because most of my army's covered in it as well, and fits the fluff . THEY LOOK BETTER WHEN THEY'RE ALL TOGETHER I PROMISE. Now i'm sounding like I'm making excuses.

@nightfall-- Well, fluffwise they're a renegade non-chaos chapter on the run because they believe that there is a higher power above the Emperor. Even though the do still want to serve the Emperor, they are now excommunicated and hunted down as heretics. Since they're based on the real knights templar who were hunted down as heretics as well, I guess that can be grimdark? Also explains why their equipment is badly weathered, since they are being hunted down and have no time or resources to replenish supplies.

Thanks for the critique and replies!

It's actually made out of kitty litter sand.... so that kinda connects right?

UNUSED kitty litter, mind you.

Holy crap that's awesome! Should have used the Greek alphabet for authentic byzantine look, however.
I just like any excuse to use Greek in 40k ;D

Ever thought 40k would be a lot better with bears?

The Alpha and Omega letters are on the front. Does that count?

I used Latin more than Greek, mainly because I'm more knowledgeable with Latin. Convenience, really.

Oh additional info: that saint on top is NOT the Virgin Mary. It's St. Catherine of Siena, patron saint of fire prevention. Hopefully that means my rhino si safe from flamers and meltas.

The Rhino is also named Fire and Flames (Ignis et Flammae), partly because of the patron saint and partly because of... Dragonforce.

I am absolutely loving the freehand work! Your lettering is superb and your portraits are dynamite. Not sure if that's supposed to be the Emperor, Jesus, somekind of Jesus-Emperor lovechild, or what, but it all looks good!

The weathering is absolutely great! Many people would approve of it, too.

The freehand work is also excellent! The whole look is more medieval/crusade than grimdark, which works very well indeed.

Great work, serenade!

You've got shaggy, now where is scooby?

I like the animated feel of your freehand work.

Some people are sensitive to reglious , political or other imagery that is controversal. (Ex: Christianity, naiz flag, SS lighting, jewish star, ect) Espically in wargame where tanks and other stuff are blowing up and shooting at the figures or tanks. Leaves a bad mojo in some peoples mouth.

Personally i think its creative art. Ive never seen byzantine marines and the idea fits perfectly (plus i love the knights templar history) [History major here].

overall its a job well done

Okay guys, to keep it nice and clean instead of making an additional thread I'm just gonna put my other works on this one. Behold, my dreadnought:

May not have a lot of stuff going on on this one. I would just like to point out that I did a bit of interior work: namely, it has a sorta-dead person inside...
