Well, made me grin...

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/blogPost.jsp?aId=18800014a

"In other news, we recently received a batch of pictures from a local hobbyist called Steve Wren. He's a big fan of tournaments and gaming weekends and thought we'd like to see his Daemons of Chaos army, which he's getting ready for the Warhammer Doubles event in November. He was right; we did want to see them..."

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I don't think it really means anything - the web guys probably didn't notice it. Or thought that it was not important.

I actually think it's cool that GW's "What's new today" often shows sweet conversions and the like. Don't ruin it!

Indeed, I doubt it's a harbinger of a forthcoming buyout or merger... It did just make me grin though, given GW's foamy mouthed attitude to 3rd party suppliers and using parts from other companies minis in conversions.

Oops!

Oh well, give it a day or so and they'll issue a note to tell people not to submit pictures that aren't GW pure... again.

There's a Cryx Scarlock in there too. Nice army, shame it won't be on show for long.

I like his idea of 'filler units' to make the units larger without adding more infantry while putting something unique and decorative in the middle.

I'm not sure which is the more hilarious explanation-
1-GW employees/higher ups don't know their own model lines enough to notice the out of place models.
2-GW pays so little attention to the rest of the war gaming hobby world it didn't even occur to them that there might be non GW models in the pics.

Where is the Skarlock? Edit: NEVERMIND! I found it

Also, notice how the bloodletters are the only image that doesn't have the ability to be brought up in a lightbox?

Yup - right there in the front rank. Pretty awesome job with the cloak to cover it up.

Personally I find it more hilarious that you don't realize that it's user submitted content, and they don't check it for a reason.

They don't check to ensure that they aren't using other peoples copyrighted models to advertise their own competing products-ON PURPOSE? Seems like an odd policy, I'm much more inclined to believe they just did a cursory check and overlooked it on accident.

I'm just poking fun at the lumbering corporate behemoth, relax bro

Also- Skarlocks are awesome, both ruleswise, and as models (the bright green soul spiraling around the pale undead skarlock is just money).

In fairness, I believe that was a contractual necessity. I think Jon even stated in another thread that LOTR contractual obligations also helped drive the latest round of secrecy/leak control.

As to OP--I chuckled--as I'm sure PP did.

It was. It even said so in the White Dwarf where that was a problem, for a Warhammer Fantasy Wood Elf Lord.

I think it was more speculation about the contractual obligations being behind the latest round of secrecy/leak control--but I would not be surprised that it is.

Or the actual explanation that it doesn't matter they're not all GW models.

This is almost as good as the GW employee that had his army on bases made from GW basing kits when infact they were micro-art

I think they said at Games Day though that they were just trialling the new secrecy policy, and if it wasn't popular they would switch back to the old plan.

Except it wasn't a GW employee. It was an army submitted via the Flickr pool with no information on the bases.

It's the Changeling's top half with Skarlock arms and bottom half by the looks of it.

This pic has truly made my day, it was up there with the DE army in the cabinet at my local GW (not sure if it's still there) that had entire PoM Wracks on the Raiders!

Just goes to show what beautiful things can happen if everyone just ignores GWs moaning and went with the flow.

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio
