Thoughts? The Rapier is nice, but the Autocannons are an abolute must for those wanting to take Contemptor Psyflemen.

An priced to compare with the latest competition to boot! Those are pretty nice but I wonder how compatible they'd be with a regular dread...?

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

They had sabres and tarantulas, I'm glad they finally got around to releasing a rapier.

Interesting that they ret-conned the Rapier to be more ancient, mystical, and 'powerful'. Usually it was just a computerized tarantula on wheels with a mundane multi-laser.

Did Graia exist in the 40k lore before the Space Marine video game? Regardless, I think its cool that they're linking a physical product to a media one.

I had been waiting for autocannons, three Contemptors and two sets of Minotaurs Terminators pads ordered!

Speaking of which, don't the Minotaurs pads deserve a picture too?

I don't remember it being a "Tarantula on treads", but I do certainly remember it supposedly being a bit more advanced than the Tarantula.

Those Contemptor autocannons are excellent.

WOW the lastest newsletter was just chaulked full of good. This FW Rapier brings back fond memories of the original and the Rifleman arms for the Contemptor makes me want to give FW my money.

....and the Minotaur shoulders are good too. =P

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

Imperial Armor 1, then again in Space Marine.

I dig the new Rapiers. If I wasn't already using mine for a conversion beamer with my Master of the Forge I'd use it in my IG! I also like the Contemptor autocannons. They look like giant Brenguns.

I'm actually not a fan of the autocannons myself. While they're perfectly adequate and functional, the IG drum feed looks better IMHO.

Was just about to say that, they look like minor, upsized resculpts of the DKoK heavy stubbers.

Of course the Kheres assault cannons are heavy 6 and you can have two of them also.. Much cooler looking also to me than the auto cannons

Which themselves heavily resemble Bren guns. The Centaurs for Death Korps are also basically British Bren Gun carriers.

I've been waiting for the Rapier since they previewed it months ago. My only complaint about the release is it's lack of new IA book. Wish they'd release it already.

I also prefer the drum magazine look for autocannons, but these are very nice!

Not a fan of the tiny tank, though.

In the Compendium the Rapier was just a carriage for other weapons, like the Multi-Laser, but like with most Rogue Trader era things it was ignored almost completely when 40K went through a restructure at the start of 2nd Ed to make the universe more cohesive and less 'bitsy'. Since then - right from the start of 2nd Ed onwards - the Rapier has been a very powerful anti-tank weapon.

That's what I thought when I saw them. And with those magazines each gun has maybe, what, 8 shots at most?

8 shots is plenty.. thats about how long the average dreadnought survives!

I was thinking more from a literal perspective. Those 8 shots per gun might give it 3-5 seconds of firing before it has to reload - and it can't reload itself. Not exactly useful in any situation.

Like most 40k weapons. Even the normal TLAC arms only have a maybe a dozen rounds each or so and no method of reloading. When was the last time you saw a Space Marine with extra Bolter magazines or indeed anywhere to even put them?

How does he reload the autocannons after he fires the small amount of ammo those mags hold?

I woudl have liked some bins or ammobelt feeds, etc.

I used to have Rapier laser models in my Genestealer Cult army, so this model has a hinto of nostalgia that tempts me to buy it...

Im digging the new autocannon arms! Shame about the contemptor which Im liking less every time I see it..

With the autocannons... sure only a dozen rounds per mag max, which is best part of 50 rounds total. Remember the dreadnought isnt firing all 4 barrels full auto all the time.. for somthing like a chimera the dread would probably just put one well placed round through the drivers vision slit..

That maybe true for dreads with a limited amount of rounds, but the marines have pouches for extra magazines. And they put them around their belt.

Zinge might be able to help you out there with the belts CT.

I'm digging the old school models that FW has been harkening back to recently. Much awesomeness here and I'm wishing that I had the budget to take advantage.

In other news, I recently modeled a helmeted space marine to be "biting" the pin out of a grenade...
