I absolutely loved battleship as a kid. Although I always thought the sub was too easy to sink. Whatever the case may be, they're making a movie of it. Seems like one gigantic recruiting add to me, but I'll probably watch it.

I stopped caring for this movie after they fethed it up by adding aliens (I don't recall see that in the board game), really how hard is it to make a battleship movie just show a bunch of battleships duking it out (which is
what the actual boardgame is about) seriously this isn't rocket science. One good thing I can say is Brooklyn Decker is in it and she's hot as feth.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

It's stupid, but I really want to see this crappy looking camp-fest.

I think its based on war games, as apposed to the board game. I'm losing interest in action movies, but I might watch it to see if that really was the Normandy.

I think the aliens, force fields and everything else is a big list of contrivances to justify having battleships firing at other battleships in a modern war setting. I mean, even in WWII they were no longer primarily ship to ship combatants.
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Yeah, like has already been said, the Battle of Jutland would make for a fine film. Then again, so would the Sinking of the Bismarck, and that was WWII.
But this film isn't a war story, it's a big dumb movie in the style of that other Hasbro toy license, Transformers. So you get impossibly pretty people battling space aliens, with a couple of insane heroes pulling off a crazy plan in the last couple of minutes of the movie. It even looks to be pretty close to Bay's style, just hopefully without all his weird baggage.

The ships in this movie are most likely destroyers. The USN doesn't currently use any "batleships", although that one ship near the end looked pretty battleship-ish.
They didn't have subs or carriers in the first world war

There also aren't any aliens, so I think they're just going to pretend about the battleships

Personally I'm waiting for "Battleship: The Movie: The Board Game"

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

In the last few minutes, do you think there will be a slow, panning shot from the floor up as the hero looks up and gathers their inner courage, set to a slow, moving orchestral score, with explosions and destruction in the background?

I already saw one shot from beneath a character, panning across them as they looked dramatic
