You know, just stuff that you absolutely cannot get your head around, no matter how hard you try. This seems like a pretty nice invite for anyone to make slightly obtuse digs at other forum members, especially over politics, but that's just going to lead to just another argument, so can people please not do that.

People who insist, most strongly, that they could never eat a vegetarian meal. Not that they really like meat and don't want to give it up, that's fine, I like meat too. I mean people who claim the thought of eating a meal without meat somehow makes them ill. Did you put bacon on your corn flakes as a kid?

People increasing their hostility to something the more popular it gets. Like the mass of hatred that followed Avatar, which at worst could be called very well made but bland... that somehow sent some people into fits absolute hatred because, near as I can tell, it was really popular.

People texting while driving. I mean fething seriously, you're in a hunk of metal flying along at 100 kms an hour, surrounded by other rapidly travelling hunks of metal, and you think 'oh I don't need to pay that much attention'.

Michael Buble. I don't hate him, I just get why he's famous. I just don't get how that guy could be elevated above any of the other cabaret crooners around the world, doing the exact same schtick. I mean, why him?

Bronies. Most internet fads I kind of understand why and how they happened, even if I think it's pretty silly. I absolutely cannot begin to understand why young men started watching a show about ponies aimed a very young girls.

Anyway, what leaves you scratching your head?

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

Intolerance, unmarked and identical push/pull handles, and texting in general. I mean, if it's actually important, call me. If it's not important, than either it doesn't matter or it can wait.

hotsauceman1 wrote:Are you trying to troll bronies here?

Eh? I'm not seeing it. All he's stated is that he doesn't understand how it started. Which is actually pretty reasonable, because most "bronies" don't even know how they got started or why they keep watching it.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Things that confuses me.

a) People that makes fun of asians eating dogs while themselves eat pigs.
By all means dogs are cuter I fully agree, but loyalty and intelligence, they are about there.
So its pretty much saying its OK because pigs are ugly....

b) People that says GW price is justified e.g saying elite units costs more ( gold swords ) because we need less to play with.
Then goes nerd raging at Warmachine prices.

c) People that says finecast flaws are ok because GW needs experience.
Well, GW of 30 years, casts worse than a 4 years old chinese recast company LoLz

d) LOTR prices increased while the content is cut in half ( ninja price raise )
People claiming its cheaper because content is halfed while price raised........

There are tons more lol, warhammer related stuff is always confusing to me...

People are usually don't make fun of them for eating dogs as much as being horrified. It isn't really all that much of a shock when you consider that dogs have a somewhat different place in western culture. Now you do get a lot of cats being food jokes.

The rule of cute has been around for a while, though often with dogs it isn't really the cute thing so much. A dog is a family companion, and you don't eat a family member.

Are there any proven scientific studies of pigs not able to be family companion at a genetic level?

If not, then nope im not convinced at all.

Dogs can't be family members at a genetic level either.

Well, i think it has to do with culture. I don't have a pig running around in my house.
Dogs can provide protection that an average "pot belly" pig couldn't, IMHO. I grew up with
dogs as a part of the family for the most part. to me it would be like eating a family member.
as for pigs, can i just say "Bacon"!

Thats the thing, I wanted to know other than dogs being cuter, and being in the culture for ages,
are there any scientific prove that pigs couldnt be the same.

And Im pretty sure through selective breeding, pigs could potentially be bred to be

smaller
less fat
cuter

but the thing is , people never bothered, they just go YUMMYYYYYYYYYY

I suppose they could have, but dogs are domesticated wolves really so they go back ages with early roots in hunting which is why they wouldn't really be considered food at all.

Had they used boars instead it'd likely be different.

Well ignorance is not an excuse, now we know what pigs are capable of... the question is

do we have mercy with our intellect or we think with our stomach

Have you ever been around pigs? Seriously, it's not a dig. Pigs and dogs are apple and oranges.
My dogs go outside to use the bathroom. they can indicate that they need to us. Pigs aren't as
clean, IMHO. i've been in houses that had indoor "pot belly" pigs. much less sanitary to me.

Some people do have pigs as pets, it just isn't as common. Again, dogs aren't really any cuter, but they are different creatures and act differently. This isn't just in western culture either. In many cultures dogs are considered companion animals with a different status than others. For example, in many Native American cultures dogs were seen as intermediaries between the animal world and the human world. Pigs don't have that status. Dogs tended to be more helpful in different survival roles than pigs as well.

I agree, half though.

I do agree the current evolution of dogs, compared to the pigs, there are tons of difference.

But pigs never received the same selective breeding, ingrained traits dogs had.

Dogs are the only animal that knows to look at where we are pointing at ( instead of just looking at our finger )

Pigs are good for hunting truffles though.

They just hunt different things.

It isn't just selective breeding alone that made dogs the way they are.

If you are a tribe and you need to get enough food to survive, trufles isn't going to cut it. Trufles aren't really going to feed a village or fight a defensive battle like a dog will. Generally pigs aren't as defensive of their companions as a dog is.

Hey, I was a maladjusted social mutant before ponies. It actually made me come out of my shell more.
But OT: I dont understand people who hunt for joy. Good for you. You killed an animal that was doing nothing to you and probably had a family. In a world where you dont need to kill that cow for food hunting isnt needed
2: people who laud over how great their country/state/province/city is great and the best, Then sweep its blatantly obvously flaws under the rug.
