Consumption of the Emperor. Then move into the warp to munch on the seemingly endless spawn.

The Emperor and the choir of astropaths seems likely.
Also the Tyranid race cannot consume warp-matter, it is half corporeal, but too insubstantial to class as biomass.

Oh lets talk about that. What would happen if they ate the emperor? Would they be able to use any of the DNA and what could they make with it?

Most likely, He is a superhuman, even if he is technically a vegetable...
I know the primarchs were created with chaos help, but as little is known before their conception, who knows if the emperor is a pruduct of the self same thing.
Going on the assumption that he isnt, I'd have thought The Emperor would offer enhanced physique, Enhanced Psychic abilites (although how much they would be enhanced compared to how the Eldars DNA did for the Zoanthropes will be questionable). But, It would have a massive effect on the species as a whole... its possibly the reason for Macragge, aiming to get their hands on Calgars body...
But Terra as a whole is drawing Leviathan due to the massive Choir of Astropaths. which is troubling that the Imperium hasn't noticed that yet...

One thing to note is that the Emperors body is a dead husk. It is possible that most or all of his DNA may of degraded to the point it is of little use.
The Tyranids aren't aware of the Emperor in any real sense. The only possible info they have on him is that gained from Lictors extracting data from human brains. Humans worship him as a god and the idea of god, divinity, faith, belief etc is worthless to Tyranids and would be ignored as worthless data.
The sole goal of the Tyranids is to consume all life and material needed fro them to make more Tyranids and evolve. I was stated in the third edition Tyranid codex that there don't seem to be overall strategic desires by the Hive fleets other than encircling and consuming the galayy's inhabitants.

The golden throne is a Life support machine, and as much as the emperors body has withered it still contains DNA. Even upon death a body still contains DNA, for it to dissapear entirely it needs to rot and turn to nothing. And as the Emperor is in a stasis field, they isnt going to happen. His genetic data will be very nommy indeed ^_^ Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and as The emperor is the key to the Astropath network, the Tyranids are well aware of his existence,

I was kind of thinking a number 6 (from AVP) like thing. Where you have the tau or someone take a nid and super them all up with cybernetics only to have them escape and destroy the world. Might make a neat SC except the nids keep melting down any that develop character.

The Emperor was the result of the mass ritual suicide of all of Earths 'Shamans' . The original 40k Rulebook (1st edition) says as much.
As for Tyranid Game plan? The 'Nid Codex states that the Astronomican is drawing them towards Terra, so Invasion of Terra is on the game plan, and beyond that, consumption of the galaxy and further evolution, basically the same thing they've done since... whenever.

"If you really want to know what it was like, to fight in the air in the great War, then go up to someone you have never met and who has never done you the slightest harm and pour a two-gallon tin of petrol over them. Then apply a match, and when they are nicely ablaze, push them from a fifteenth-floor window after first perhaps shooting them a few times in the back with a revolver. And be aware as you are doing these things that ten seconds later someone else will quite probably do them to you. This will exactly reproduce... the substance of First World War aerial combat and will cost your country nothing. It will also avoid the necessity of ten million other people to die in order for you to enjoy it."

It doesn't register to them, they don't use warp travel, and it exists as an anathema to reality. Sorry I just don't see it. Automatically Appended Next Post: AethyrKnight wrote:

Maybe they'll give them a little heartburn when the Tyranids eat them, but that's as far as it'll go.

Tyranids are very adept at collecting intelligence and learning about their victim races (Genestealers are basically this). My guess is they're quite aware of the Emperor indeed.

Why the Tau? Eldar are far superior biologically... plus we already know what effect Eldar have had on Tyranid physiology... the Zoanthrope.
Tyranids have munched Tau, and well... it didn't have an effect on the genetic make-up (that we know of)

They run into a Necron fleet somewhere in the vast gulfs between stars and then get gauss-flayed into atomic particles because they can't find enough biomass to replenish themselves fast enough.

Sorry that is tosh... it'd never happen, there isn't enough necrons in the galaxy for that to happen. Plus the Necron fleet is tiny in comparison to a Tyranid one. it'd be chewed alive...

Except the Necrons aren't alive in the first place and, eating one, really doesn't do much but cause it to phase out and come back a few minutes later.
You also seem to think that the Necrons are a small army. They're not. There are more Necrons than there are stars in the galaxy.

Metal is digested as part of daily life in most Organisms. plus, if a Necron is crushed to the point of not being able to teleport to repair, then being chewed will do a lot.
Necrons are described as legion. and yes I know what that means. BUT. they are a finite race, with no way of replenishing their numbers. they can only repair ones that already exist. so, given that, they can be defeated.
Tyranids are extragalactic. with no knowledge of how many more fleets are out there, but you can guarantee there is more out there.
There are more Necrons than there are stars in the galaxy.
Ever such a large overstatement. The necrontyr decended from one planet that was threatened by a star on the verge of a super nova. and considering earth has 6 billion people on it, even if the earth was full the necrontyr wouldn't have numbered more than 20billion. They are known as legion, "without number" because of their repair technology. but because they have so many troops.

It's a direct quote regarding the Necrons from Jim Swallow, incidentally.
The Necrons may have started on a single world, but as there is more than one Tomb World in the galaxy, they obviously didn't stay there. We have no idea how many Necrontyr there were before biotransference, there might have been 7 quintillion Necrontyr at the time. Even even half of this number survived the transfer to a Necrodermis shell, this would be several orders of magnitude greater than the number of stars in the Milky Way (estimated at 300 billion... in 40K, that's not really a lot, comparatively).

A quintillion doesnt exist as a number.
remember, Tyranids have consumed a dozen Galaxies. that amount of biomass will equate to an exceptionally large number of fleets. which have all diversified from a diet of different biomass. either way, they outnumber Necrons. I can't see any basis that the Necrons will wipe out tyranids. As to wipe out as big as the Tryanids, you'd need every civilisation in the galaxy to team up and work together. which will not happen in any way what so ever, as everyone as an agenda against one of the other factions...
