Uh. I might have missed something but what exactly are we discussing in this thread? Apart from these bunch of qoutes?

Apologies, Hindenburg. This thread is a continuation from here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/180/418062.page#4092952
Things were getting a little off topic in that thread and the community benefits from splitting up huge threads into easy to find, more concise conversations.

Then I'm on board. Terrain for Infinity can indeed seem daunting, requiring a bit of planning and thought.

Personally i am a big fan of what War Mill have on offer. When i but my Terrain, most of it will be from them. It's extremely well priced too, muchos bang for you buck.

Might be worthwhile amending the first post LostCasey'slaw, just to show the purpose of the thread?
Did you want a list of terrain suppliers so you can show them in the first post?

Good point, Pacific. Updated the OP.
I wasn't really going to get too involved, i just started the thread because no one else had. If you want to make a list of stuff or add anything to the OP then i'll be happy to. I'll check this thread pretty often even if i'm not contributing so just leave a message and i'll update my post.
We also need a 'New to Infinity' thread if anyone wants to go ahead and make that.

OK here are some useful links for terrain:
Micro Arts Studio - Sell terrain designed with Infinity in mind (inc. large HDF buildings/walkways) as well as tokens/counters, bases and templates:
http://www.microartstudio.com/
Antenociti's Workshop - Large selection of terrain and accessories as well as bits for making your own. Also miniatures/vehicles suitable for use in the game.
http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/
Sarissa Precision - The 'System Infinity' range, selection of HDF terrain including buildings and battlefield accessories.
http://www.sarissa-precision.co.uk/
Old Crow Models - Range of sci-fi vehicles and battlefield accessories.
http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/ocproducts.htm
JR Miniatures - Sci-fi rooms for the interior of buildings/space craft, as well as other sci-fi accessories.
http://www.jrminiatures.net/28mmsciencefiction.aspx
(I've just included regular terrain in this list, so resin/HDF, paper terrain is a subject all of it's own I don't really have that much experience with it!)

Can we see about putting Worldworks Games into the list too? I've been using their textures lately and I know I'm not the only Infinity player using them.

Does anyone have any pictures to show or experiences they'd like to share with the community? Maybe the dos and don'ts of Infinity terrain?

OK following a request here is the terrain I have used in my board, along with a link to it's source, hopefully should help anyone making their own board! This is stuff that I have bought, rather than built (I will do a write-up on those at some point in the future):
Taxi garage:
Source: Sarissa Precision: http://www.sarissa-precision.co.uk/, door panel Antenociti's Workshop http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/wargames-scenery-terrain/sci-fi-scenery-terrain.html
Road Works:
Source: Robot was part of toy range called 'Androidz', portaloo is from 'Fenris Games' http://www.fenrisgames.com/ and road blocks again from Antenociti's Workshop http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/jersey-barriers.html
Telephone Booths
Source: Antenociti's Workshop, I couldn't find them on the site at time of writing - best to call them perhaps for availability.
Park area
Source: Trees were from Woodland Scenics (I believe from Hobbycraft in the UK, US link: http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/index.cfm). Park bench was again Fenris Games http://www.fenrisgames.com/, Sci-fi car is by Antenociti's Workshop. Couldn't find the specific one on their website, although the range is here: http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/antenocitis/g-o-t-vehicles-1.html
Sci-fi crates
Source: Antenociti http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/sci-fi-secure-crates.html
Holo Adverts
Source: Made by Micro Arts Studio, for UK dealers I bought from Antenociti's Workshop http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/district-5-holo-ads-set-1.html
Apartment Building
Source: Again MAS, bought from Antenociti's Workshop http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/district-5-5-apartment-1.html Blue film in windows was bought from Hobbycraft.
Please see my blog (linked below) for any further details, and let me know if there are any questions about the kits or how they were made!

I believe the car is the one called 'future car 2'. At the top of the range of vehicles.
And I never tire of looking at your terrain, Pacific. It's just so great.

I'm more a fan of the "do your own scenography" than a buyer, but I must say that I've seen some micro arts studio Infinity scenography and I'm quite surprised: modular, accepts different combinations, and it's quite affordable. And given the amount of terrain that is needed to cut the LOF, some external help is always welcomed

Yeah, when I started looking into Infinity, was when Sarissa systems started doing their stuff. I was surprised by the third party support for Infinity terrain even without them - MAS has a huge range of stuff, both HDF buildings and resin peices, some with clear plastic holographic displays or energy barriers.
Combined with the large amount of smaller places doing resin sci fi parts and vehicles, it's pretty afforable to make a great looking Infinity board with only a little effort. And while they might look a bit samey, it ties into the whole Dystopian future aesthetic.

I agree, i particularly like War Mill's stuff because of it's mass produced, standardised feel. The amazing thing is, it's still very easy to give each piece it's own character. Oh that reminds me. War Mill have a 15% off sale for the next wee while. Get 'em while they're hot!

I really want their Fortress and Outpost kits. Combined, again, with stuff from MAS and Sarissa systems, you get some great combinations of terrain.

Yeah, using different manufacturers is a good way to get a really individual, dynamic board set up.

Question :
Are there pictures of official Infinity terrain somewhere (in the books maybe?) ?
I currently own terrain only for 40k. Fluff wise, will it fit or will it be too gothic/grimdark heh ?

40k stuff is way off the mark but it'll work okay in respect to playing the game. The MAS stuff is the official Infinity terrain, there is a link in the OP. It's quite nice but there aren't many options, using a few different companies from the OP is the best way to go. Oh and you need as much terrain as you can get on the board. Hope that helps.

I guess I'll try to make half the board an zone of ruins and wilderness (from 40k) and the other half a more urbanised zone...
If it really doesnt fit, it will eventually get fixed =P

Background wise, while it doesn't fit exactly, you could just say that it was a monastery area of the Knight of Montessa fighting on Paradiso or something?!
The practical problem is the 'swiss cheese' nature of 40k terrain. Your guy runs past that hole in the wall, suddenly his head gets taken off by that Lasiq with a viral sniper rifle half a mile away
Perhaps the best thing to do will be to count all ruins as 'solid' bits of terrain, otherwise it will be too restrictive and make the game very confusing to play.
There isn't that much terrain in the main book, but a few more really inspirational pictures in the 'Human Sphere' add on. If you've ever seen Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, perhaps Appleseed (or any other near-future Manga) that will give you some idea. Lots of clean lines, modern and hi-tech look. There are some great links for terrain in the OP, either for scratch-building or if you are prepared to spend a little money then the HDF (wood) buildings by either Sarissa or Micro Arts Studio are wonderful. Very easy to assemble, and I think not too expensive if you view it as money that you don't need to spend on the actual minis in the army.

You might want to add this to the list of terrain. It's free paper terrain, simple to make and really good for beginners. They have a lot of interesting stuff.
