Allright, I created my own chapter, but i need help nameing it.
My fluff for my chapter is that it comes from one big system, each planet (10 inhabital planets) provides men for each company. The 10th company's planet is mainly composed of tribal warriors and customs (think native american) and rely heavily on stealth. the main company I created, the 5th company, comes from a planet that was desolated by nuclear war, separating communities that grew up on scrapes of past civilizations, building guns and creating governments like long before. the savagery of the wasteland makes them tough and adaptable to most situations. The seige company comes from a forgeworld that makes the equipment for war. the mysterious 8th company doesn't leave it's world, protecting their secrets of technology enhancement and experimentation, trying to create new technologies in secret that they believe will become the one saving grace they have in the future.


Allright, im done for now, so help would be really appreciated ^^ I just need a good name and feedback for my chapter. so far the names have been Council of the wasteland, Wasteland dragons, Wasteland rangers, and blades of the wasteland.

As a rule, a name is better if it's short and snappy, preferably only two words - the word "waste" is difficult to work with, how about the "Desolators", sounds a bit better than "wastelords" or what have you.

(Desolation referring of course to a harsh area, possibly laid waste by extreme violence, which would fit with a SM army)

You can get away with a three word name if it's a short one, like, "Sons of Medusa'... In fact, I'd look to them for inspiration. Why not name your Chapter after the system it recruits from? Just call your system "Desolation" or "Purgatory" or something vaguely negative-sounding (or grimdark) and make your Chapter the "Sons of [Desolation/Purgatory/Perdition/Sorrow/etc]".

Sons of Perdition?!?! That's the greatest chapter name I've ever heard.

Or you could name your Chapter with things that associate things to both Native American culture and wastelands:

The Corrosion Eagles
The Pale Comanches
Lunar Castellans
Poison Swords
Ghost Walkers
Ash Knights
etc

Sons of Perdition! Now that's a name!

Wolves of Desolation or Barren Foxes....or Lost Sons of Hinterland....just some ideas using other words for wasteland.

with all thinks considered i think a name like the "irregulars" due to the jumble of men from various worlds. But you bring the point of the Native American culture element so I would think to name them after a Spirit some to consider ( with explanations): Wendgo, its a cannibal monster that by looking upon him causes death, Ahayuta ( he had a twin that is not mentioned of named Achi) he was a war god and second in command to the sun god of the Zuni tribe or perhaps the Dezba meaning "who goes to war" in Navajo and Cheveyo which means 'spirit warrior" in Hopi

Also on a side note a name for the Chapter master could be Hiamovi which is a title give by the Cheyenne tribe meaning "high chief " Also just throwing this out there i think it would be awesome for a army carrying your theme to give the ranks as the names of Native american feel like for instance any veteran warrior in the Apache, Navajo, and a number of other tribes would be refereed to at any age as Grandfather and he would lead the others. That at if you have any on bikes they could be called "dog-men" as that was the name given to Calvary by i believe a Chief of the Cherokee who thought horses were big dogs. i hope i helped

I liked Ash Knights out of Keegan's post, actually. If nobody else is going to use that one, I may hijack it for a vanilla Chapter (I've got a few Scouts and Assault Marines I'm trying to decide what to do with, they don't really work with my Dark Angels army).

The name of your Chapter can also be influence by who your geneseed comes from. In other words, who is your Chapters parent Chapter?

Sorry for not replying for a past couple of days. I like the knights/sons of desolation name, it does have a nice ring to it but It just doesnt seem to fit my paint scheme.
Right now, since I dont have pictures of them, I'll just say they are painted camo green with seargents and vets (my failguard) have grey shoulder pads and grey helmets. I know this isnt the right thread, but would you think a good sand yellow paint scheme would help?

That said, I was thinking about this system, and wondering if all 10 planets were circling the local star at roughly the same distance, just all in elliptical or off-set orbits (like Neptune in the Sol System).. or is this a really, really hot star that extends its life-zone way out into its orbital rings?

I was just thinking that, with a Sol-like star, the 10th planet would be about as far away as Pluto is from Earth (if you put Planet 5 in the asteroid belt), and thus be a ball of ice and rock uninhabitable by humans.

ETA: Name the Chapter? Hmm... since they're from all of these different planets, it'd probably go best as a link to the system, so if it's the Furion system, they could be the Sons of Fury and so on. Give the local star a good name, and then these can be the sons or Brotherhood or similar sort of thing of whatever that is. Like, if the star is named Desolus, this Chapter could be the Brotherhood of Desolation.... or something.

That is a good point Eh, idk, I was thinking about this a little, maybe change the fluff, or maybe take the tenth planet thing and make it an excuse to play space wolves along with space marines

Well, keep in mind that the Space Wolves have no surviving Successor Chapters (that Canis Helix really messes people up bad).. but if you just want to play Space Wolves, go ahead, it's your army.
