Which marine codex has the best librarians and psychic power? I don't know where this topic would go so I put it here lol. And don't say Mephiston and I don't look to play GK's, already have them.

Grey knights have the best powers by far.

I hear eldar crying in the corner every time I see the bastards.

I want to run some regular marines, I am planning on making a battle company but if it comes to it a GK Brotherhood could be cool. I am just really in to Sternguard and Libbys

Then run regular marines? Every army has some good and some bad psychic powers.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

The grass is always greener on the other side.

Vanilla SM, one of the best powers hands down is null zone. Hurts dedicated CC units, hard to remove units like TH/SS terms, and can be crippling to daemon players. The ability to force the enemy to reroll their invul saves can be so godly when combined with good firepower/CC ability.

Yeah, Null Zone is pretty dirty.

Unleash Rage may just seem average on paper but it is pretty nasty with a 10-man Blood Angel Assault Squad.

Blood Angels have nice ones, like that power that gives the caster 12" movement. Also, Dreadnaught Librarians.

QFT. Every marine dex has stand out powers.

As a former nilla player, I agree that Null Zone is an ungodly power that makes things like termies cry. Avenger is also a very good power in the nilla dex. It gives the libby some good offense and ignores cover as well. One power that is frequently hated on (for legitimate reasons) but one I like is Vortex of Doom. True if you fail you get it placed on yourself, but if you're rocking termie armor and a SS then the risk is mitigated. Another power that isn't as generally useful is Gate of Infinity.

As a current BA player, I think that BA has some of the best wording for psychic powers in that we get to cast them during our opponents turn and such. Shield of Sanguinius is an awesome power in a mech army. More offensive powers (like those on Mephy) such as Sanguine Sword and Unleash Rage let Mephiston roll over units that other BA units have difficulty taking down (like Wraiths).

For our favorite space puppies, I know JoTWW is frequently touted as one of the most broken powers ever, but I think that in our current mech environment, Living Lightening is king IMO. A d6 autocannon is going to make many transports cry. Stick that Rune Priest in a Long Fang unit and you have a very solid firebase.

I had a ton of fun with a SS Termie Epistolary using Null Zone and Smite... but that's hardly a great use of points.

Null Zone = Gold, Jerry!, Gold!
Smite and Avenger = pretty fun
Gate = Gimmicky but cool with sternguard and DP locators
Vortex of DOOM! = neat, but I've had better experience with Might of Ancients in popping transports and the possible downside of VoD can be crippling to a force (of course the upside hurts the other guy pretty bad too).

I think SW have the best, simply because of their diversity.

Playing against a horde army? Murderous Hurricane will slow 'em down.
Playing against mech? Living Lightning will open those transports.
Playing against anything with useful models hidden in units? Jaw of the World Wolf can pick them out.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned might of the ancients or the quickening.

Double strength force weapons? Yes please. Initiative 10 paired with that? YES PLEASE.

Dunno about DA. Unless it is Ezekiel you are pretty stuffed (and then he only has a choice of three compared to tigirus' 6!)

JOTWW is honestly broken all to hell. And then there's double-cast Gift of Chaos.

Both of those are nasty abilities that offer no good save, and both have auto-success clauses.

Yeah. It's pretty much like this:

Oh look, a Tervigon centered list. That's screwed.

Guard Platoons? Dead.

Necron Phalanx? Bye-bye...

Dark angel librarians only get Force Barrier (once per turn can make an invulnerable save by passing a psychic test) and Hellfire - template, strength 2d6 -2, ap d6 assault 1.

For right now, DA libbys are pretty weak... maybe that changes in a few months?

Only thing redeemable about DA is the unlimited range Hood.

But he is ld9 so its not exactly the most reliable thing ever.

I think it's only a 28% chance of success vs Ld10 [place weeping ork here].

"Well, isn't the enemy of your enemy, like, your friend? Or whatever? Can't they team up?"
"Not exactly. In this setting, the enemy of your enemy is still a floating, greasy, armored brain."
"Well, what about his enemy? Maybe you could be friends with him."
"No, because that guy is a mechanical horror in an undying battle shell. He sails from world to world in a flying tomb, serving gods who eat hope."

Poor dark angles and their half ass codex. Hopefully GW will spend more than 5 minutes on the 6th edition codex.

Short ranged, heavy weapon and has to roll to hit :(
His hood is ok.
Also like most librarians he is too easy to kill.

About 1/16 chance of that working but awesome when it does.
