Update: There is now a painted picture available and it looks good:

Also, many heavy weapons combinations have been added:
http://www.shapeways.com/shops/gangwar?s=36

Bit too big and silly for my taste, but YMMV

I did a quick search and nothing turned up on this outfit - hopefully this is not a duplicate post. Interesting renders, though I've never bought anything from shapeways.
I expect the 3-D printing is not of the quality we expect in miniatures, but maybe someone else can comment on that? The one painted pic (the water still) seems really rough (the end of the tank for instance), but could be the paint job. I might pick up the mutant bits, since it wouldn't be that big a deal if it didn't look quite right.

I've got a shop myself on Shapeways, Battlefleet Gothic and Epic bits, mostly. I've bought from this guy before. I got the mutant pack and they turned out just fine. Get it in the high detail material and you won't have a problem - I think it's called Frosted Ultra Detail. Most of the guy's stuff defaults to that when you buy it, but double check. That painted tank thingy you posted looks like the "white strong and flexible" material, which is strong, but doesn't handle detail as well.

LOL, poor GW is going to cry about their IP for models they've not made (well not had in shops) in 20 years...

A couple guys over on the Lead Adventure forum purchased some of these to gauge their quality, from what i can tell the detail is decent but the rough texture is pretty undesirable.

I really hope that the person behind these models looks into potentially doing some plastics in the future similar to what Wargames factory/Defiance are currently doing.

I'll second this, absolutely superb models and Andy could really use the business.

just want to add to the praise I bought a few packs and I'm really happy with how they turned out. They painted up very nicely if I could find my camera I'd take a picture or two

Not to take anything away from the op but here are some other cool 3d print models available from other people/artists on shapeway.

Could we see some pictures of the "high grain" models? I've only seen the grainy casts.

There's a reason why almost no Shapeways store shows printed pictures.

I'm just ordering the lot for the second girl with the two guns aimed straight ahead. Perfect mini for a Dark Heresy character from Gunmetal City, complete with a pair of Scalptakers, she might be a hab-prole, but they work.

My order came in just now, bit surprised that they were cast locally. I tried taking a picture, but as you can see..

No, I haven't blanked the models out, it is the material used for the minis!

Due to the material the details are hard to make out, though I do notice that the backs of the minis have a rough texture in comparison to the fronts, which look as advertised. Held side to side with a GW Cadian confirms that these ladies are 28mm heroic and will easily fit into existing Necromunda ranges. Curious to see how these will paint up, will probably get to work on one as soon as the weather permits priming.

What are those pictures?

They are grey, and the ones someone got are... white. Not just white either. bleached white.

I don't mind more gangers for the buck, but what is the product here in question? Are they cast in grey plastic, or in some kinda 3D "Printed" plascrack?

Anyone else have any for comparison, painted up already?

How is the flash on this product?

Other then that, what is pictured doesn't look like it is whats being sold. Sorry, but not really serious if it looks that craptastic.

Just to clarify, mine aren't white, they are done in a transparent material, while those in the pictures are digital images of the casts. The camera flash makes it hard to see, I mainly did the picture for the inevitable size comparison questions.

No flash though, clean as they can get, aside from my musings on the backs of the minis.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Having cut the girls free of their sprue I see now that two of them, holding just one weapon, have stubby arms that seem way to short and stubby. They're also fragile as feth and require a good soak to properly clean.

I've bought some things from shapeways before. The frosted ultra detail is the way to go, for sure, if you don't want the grainy texture, but depending on the quality of the 3d sculpt itself, it can still be grainy. These 3d sculpts look detailed enough to print quite well in the frosted ultra detail material, just based on my experience as a 3d sculptor.

I would love to see these tweaked and cast in resin of metal (with a bit of clean up) Anyone know the original sculptor?

Don't appear to be IP infringing

I love the concept, just would like more info, and some better pictures ( as well as the size comparison...)

Can never have too many bald, trenchcoat wearing minions... especially in genestealer cults.

If they were cast in metal or plastic, I'd be all over them.

Still on the fence with them, and the other stuff, until I can nail down the plastic, or medium used on the sculpts.

Would also like to see some painted up..... and a puppy.

Hi Guys

I'm new to the site. I'm the guy who's sculpting the miniatures at Gang War. I read your posts and thought you'd like to see some more images of printed miniatures.

Primed is okay; painted is 1000x better. Find someone decent to paint the human figures, so we can see what we're working with.

Am I to understand that these are clear plastic?

Any way of making a few Predator minis in this plastic, please?

As asked, I as well would like to see them painted up.

VERY interested at this point.

I'd also like to see some assassin/ Spyers made from this material.

You could ask the owner for painted samples, I'm painting one up myself, I don't however feel like getting chewed out by the critics here.

Primed in grey with a black wash would be 10x better than just in black.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
