basically transport this scene to the 41st millennium and you have a good intro to this story.

alright, so I've finally settled on a theme for my necrons: Pirates. my plan is to make every unit in the codex with a pirate theme for this blog, and make an army while I'm at it.

I'll write some fluff in the morning, and I don't know how to easily explain the fluff, but here's the models I'm working on right now:

this is my overlord, Jack Teach

and this is the mandatory pirate wench, Ann Rackam

and this is what my basic warrior will look like.

sorry if I'm a little scatterbrained, I'm not feeling so hot today, hopefully I'll be more cohesive tomorrow.

but why is the rum gone?

in all seriousness I think I've worked out the fluff. the two characters I've showed you will be the main characters. the basic jist is that they were experiments in achieving apotheosis. their genes contain the memories of a notorious necron pirate couple. they're both scions of rogue trader houses and one day they get the urge to both go to a specific planet as part of their genetic programing. when they arrive they are hailed by the tomb as king and queen, to which they say: "hey free tomb of loyal killer robots!" and decide to take their place as king and queen of the tomb, and institute some piratey reforms (like the hats the cutlasses and the pistols, you know because it makes the place feel more like home.) anyways I'm calling it a day, I'll have a more formal writeup of the fluff in the morning.

alright I've got what everything will be. once again my goal is to make at least one of each of these for this blog while I build this army. also BFG has been getting a bit of a following in my neck of the woods, so there may be a BFG army to go along with my 40k army, we'll just have to wait and see. here's what everything will be:

HQ
Overlord: Admiral
Lords: captains
Crypteks: Engineer

Elites
Deathmarks: Crows-Nest snipers
Lychguard with warscythes: harpooners
Lichguard with shields:
Praetorians: boarding party
C’tan shard: Sea Monster
Flayed ones: drunken brawlers
Stalker: giant crab

Troops
Warriors: half share seaman
Immortals: full share seamen

Dedicated transports
Ghost ark: pirate cutter
Night scythe: sky pirate boarding craft
Catacomb command barge: captain’s wheel

Fast attack
Wraiths: mermaids
Scarabs: pirate parrots
Tomb blades: raiding type device (not sure about this one yet)
Destroyers: hoverboard deck gun

Heavy support
Doomsday ark: heavy ship’s cannon firing solid shot
Annihilation barge: light cannon firing grapeshot
Monolith: port watchtower
Doom scythe: sky pirate attack ship
Spiders: possibly also a giant crab (this one is up for debate)

Forge world
Pylon: fort cannon
Tomb stalker: sea serpent
Acanthrites: not sure yet

I'm working on the intro fluff right now. expect if before 11 AM EST.

EDIT: I'm shifting up the fluff, disregard the previous story, here's what I'll be using:
Captured, strapped to a table on some massive machine. That was where Jack Teach found himself. In front of him was a regal looking machine giant whose minions had captured him and his crew. “you are all prisoners of the Flying Nihalakan, the tradition of the necron dynasties is to put lesser prisoners such as yourselves to death. However I am merciful, and instead I will offer you a choice: death, or serving as an officer of my crew.”
“we’ll never serve you!” Jack spat.
“oh really Jackie?” another metal giant walked into view. “you don’t want to spend eternity with me?” the giant had the shape of a woman, and the voice of his betrothed, Ann Rackham.
“by the emperor, Ann, what did they do to you?” he asked.
She walked up to him and stroked his cheek with her cool metallic hand. “they perfected me, let them do the same for you.” she released a mindshackle scarab she had hidden in her palm and it burrowed into Jack.
“yes, yes, I will serve!” he screamed as his mind and the scarab fought for control.
“very well then.” The regal giant said, and flipped a switch that sent the group into the Bio-Furnace. The last thoughts of Jack’s human brain before it was digitized and placed in a metal sell was that some-day he would have his revenge

alright so I've had a bunch of classes today, I've had to schedule my classes for next semester, I've got a midterm tomorrow, and I've got to write a paper tonight. it's a wonder I've got anything done today, but I did. I give you two of my specialist troops:

the one on the left is a keel hauler, and the one on the right is one of rackham's raiders. also I'm redoing Ann as a mermaid destroyer lord leading a unit of mermaid sirens counting as wraiths. here's some bios on the specialists:

the sirens
the sirens are the personal guard of Ann the Siren, and only the most beautiful young women with the loveliest voices are selected to become her sirens. replacing their lower bodies with a fish's tail the sirens take on the aspect of the ancient Terran legend of the Mermaid. through special amplifiers their songs are cast through the warp and into the minds of navigators, who are drawn like moths to the flame into the necron's trap.

Rackham's Raiders
those young women not selected to become sirens instead join Rackham's raiders. constant visitors to the crypteks for modification, the raiders dream of one day becoming sirens. their voice-boxes are modified to make their voice more alluring, and their bodies are modified to increase their mechanical beauty. for all their modifications one constantly escapes them: the honor of replacing their legs with a tail, for that is reserved for new sirens only.

The Keel Haulers
after being given command of the Scythe class ship "the vengeance of Charon" Captain Teach found one of the compartments had been flooded with seawater. inside was a group of necron warriors who had been covered in barnacles. they became known as the keel haulers, and the they seem to advance without fear into withering amounts of fire. since the captain has begun recruiting from the crew of captured ships the toughest among them have been sent to the flooded compartment to become one of the Keel Haulers.

I plan to use the siren's a wraiths, and the Keel Haulers and the raiders will either be warriors or allied CSM Plague Marines and Noise Marines respectively.

meet a warrior of mess #4:

I'll write a bio for them in the morning, but basically they're the local drunks who kind of get a bit pissed when they don't get enough oil. I'm thinking of using them as allies chaos berzerkers (yes their CCW is a cup, I repeat they will brain you with a cup!)

we now continue the story where we left off:
The newly mechanical Jack was led to a sumptuous room near the forward of the ship. His thoughts of revenge had been squashed by loyalty programs. Ann stayed by his side the entire way. When they entered the room the regal looking metal man bid them to sit. “the phaeron will be with you shortly.”
“you mean to tell my you’re not in charge here?” Jack asked.
“no, he is a body double.” A copy of the regal metal man stepped out of the shadows in the corner of the room. “leave us.” He commanded the double. The double exited the room silently leaving the three of them alone in the room. He turned to Jack. “it’s nice to finally meet you, son.”
“What?” jack had never met his father, but he was certain he wasn’t a xenos machine.
“I can understand your confusion, let me explain. Not a long time ago by necron standards I captured the ship of one Jessica Teach. She was brought before me and we talked. In that one conversation I felt a connection with her that I had never felt with any necron woman. Your people would call it love. While she was a guest of the Cabris Dynasty she agreed to bear my heir, a child who would be half human, and half necrotyr, you.”
“there’s no way I’m half xenos!” Jack protested.
“oh really? you may have looked human, but your mind was quite necrotyr. Tell me how did your warp dabblers react when you were around?”
“they were afraid of me, astropaths couldn’t see me with their warp sight, psykers recoiled in pain when I touched them.”
“that is your necrotyr heritage shining through. Now I have a gift for you. you are the prince of the Cabris Dynasty, and as such you will be supreme commander of it’s fleets. As of now I am transferring command function to you. when this fleet reaches the crownworld I will depart and the fleet will be yours.”
“what’s the catch?”
“occasionally I will give you a specific task to complete, but aside from that your goal is the same as that of a rogue trader: colonize new worlds in the name of the dynasty, acquire material wealth through whatever means seems fit, and advance the cause of the dynasty in general. Now your first task is to retrieve your mother, my queen and bring her to me at the crownworld.”
“I think I can do that. What if I encounter local resistance?”
“kill or convert them, your choice.”
“yes father.”

alright I've got the first unit of warriors done (sort of, they still need their ghost ark):

also I've got a continuation of the fluff and the last part of the prologue (the real story is the treasure hunt):
The scout ship docked at a secret port reserved for blood members of the Teach dynasty only. The port led straight into the dynasty’s palatial estate in the spires of the hives of Darus. As soon as Jack and Ann stepped down the boarding ramp they were swarmed by attendants. Jack had a bodyguard of warriors surrounding him, and Ann was soon flanked by her bodyguards which she called her “sirens”. They wore pencil thin dresses that flared out at the bottom, giving them the appearance of having a mermaid’s tail. That was the symbol of the Rackham family: the mermaid. It emblazoned every soldier and every weapon the vassal house owned. The Teach family had a much grimmer symbol: a skeleton holding an hourglass stabbing a heart.
The group navigated through the crowd and into the estate proper. No one took a second look at a pair of necrons walking the halls, cybernetics were a common thing on Darus after a flesh rotting plague swept through the planet a few years after Jack and Ann were born, his mother being one of the victims. Ever since the plague stole her beauty and forced her to receive almost an entirely cybernetic body to survive she had covered herself in veils and billowy gowns that showed not an inch of her scarred flesh.
The group found Jack’s mother walking amongst the garden. She took one look at them with her veiled eyes and said: “I see you’ve met your father Jack.”
“yes mother, and he wants you to go to him.”
Jack’s mother raised a gloved hand, then removed the glove with her other. “you don’t know how long I have waited for this day son.” She held her mechanical hand to her face and examined it for a moment. “since the day the plague took my flesh I’ve been waiting for the day I could show myself in the light of dawn.” She grabbed the veil that covered her face and ripped it off before throwing it to the ground. The face underneath the veil wasn’t human, or cybernetic, it was the face of a necron.
“mother, you’re a-“
“yes son, to save this house from the plague I ordered anyone who was infected to be sent to the bio-forge, including myself.” She began to rip off her coverings to reveal the necron lady underneath.
“I don’t understand, where did we get a bio-forge?”
“honey this world is a tomb world of the Carbris Dynasty. My exploration of the tombs led me to go to the crownworld where I met your father, and now it is time to awaken the tomb and return this planet to its rightful rulers, us.” She retrieved a device hanging from her hips and activated it. every human in the estate frozen at attention before organizing themselves into rank and file and marching down into the depths of the estate.
“Lady Teach, what did you do?” Ann asked.
“my dear I simply activated their mindshackle scarabs and ordered them to report to the bio-forge. We’ll need an army if we’re going to conquer this planet. Now go tell your father I’ll be off to join him in a few weeks once this planet is conquered and its people added to the empire.” The pair of necrons turned to return to their ship. “oh, but before you go, I have a proposition for you that could earn you a large amount of favor with your father.”
“yes, what?” Jack asked her.
“while your father was asleep a rogue trader stole his prized flagship: the star of morning from his tomb. He’s been unable to follow the trail of the thief for the past thousand or so years because of a series of warp storms engulfing the thief’s former empire. The warp storms just subsided a few weeks ago, and there are whispers that the thief left a map to where he hid all his loot. It’s been all the buzz around the rogue traders in this sector, and everyone wants to find the treasure first so you’d better hurry. I’ll transmit the coordinates to your ship. Good luck honey.”
“very well then.” Jack thought as he walked back to his ship. “it seemed that he would be going on an old fashioned treasure hunt.”

alright, so you may or may not notice a change in the images that are on this blog, and there's a simple explanation for that: they're now hosted on the Dakka gallery. now I've got some fluff on how the rest of the story is going to go, as well as a ship registry for my BFG fleet:
Logistics report and battle plan for the Star of Morning recovery operation
Ship registry:
Flagship: the reaping scythe
Class: Scythe
Captain: Supreme Commander Jack Teach
Crew compliment: unknown, but not sufficient, recruiting will be required

Cruiser: the Implacable
Class: Scythe
Captain: currently none
Crew complement: low, recruiting required

Cruiser: The Indefatigable
Class: scythe
Captain: The Deep One
Crew Complement: unknown, made primarily of the Keel Haulers, believed sufficient

Cruiser: the Siren’s Call
Class: shroud
Captain: Ann Rackham
Crew complement: low, mostly sirens and Rackham’s raiders, recruiting not required

Task force “Nut 3”
Ships: the Jackal, the Coyote, the Winter Wolf
Classes: Jackal
Commander: none, ships autonomous to supreme commander
Crew complement: sufficient

Task force “Ptath 5”
Ships: the Sling, the Arrow, the Whip
Classes: Jackal
Commander: none, ships autonomous to supreme commander
Crew Complement: sufficient

Also before I get into the battle plan here's my design for my Jackal class Escorts:

Battle plan:
1. Acquire villa at Gold Station: Gold station is owned by a rogue trader house that seeks to profit off the search for the thief’s treasure hoard. Anyone searching for the treasure will be there, creating a critical mass of information for us to exploit. The only problem is that space is at a premium on the station, we will need to obtain a villa from less than legitimate sources.
2. Spread informants on the station and recruit new necrons: using mind shackle scarabs we can place spies in every faction on the station, allowing us to have control of the information flow. At the same time we require new recruits to our low crew numbers. Luring ships into the nebula near the station to be captured and converted should work.
3. Control information trade on station: using our spies we can control the flow of information and make a profit that the same time by trading information between factions. At the same time it should be ensured that only we have all the information.
4. Claim the treasure: at some point someone will find the map, and with our control of information we will know about it. at that point we will claim the map and take the treasure, while removing any rivals at the same time.

thank you for your comments, now I've got two more BFG ships: the Star of Morning, and the Siren's Call:

the scythe class cruisers I'm still figuring out, but when I get an idea I'll post it. also if you've been reading the fluff you would know that the Star of Morning is the ship they're looking for, and the Siren's Call is Ann's ship. that thing at the top of the Call is a warp antenna that project's the Siren's song into the warp along with images of beautiful mermaids to lure navigators into a trap.

one last thing: I was making a ghost ark pirate ship, but I just accidentally sat on it and broke it, so sorry no pirate ship right now.

alright got the second unit done here's a group shot:

also the fluff for this blog will be in four acts, corresponding roughly to each 500 point increment in my army. this second unit of warriors concludes act one, and some fluff will follow shortly to wrap up the first stage of the battle plan.

Hello again all, I told you that my Flayed ones would be drunks, and they are:

also I've been working on some bodies for the mermaids I will be using as wraiths:

they'll each have different hairstyles. I'll post a short story about a navigator who becomes a siren when her ship is captured in the morning to wrap up act 1. I may get some other models in tonight, but I'm running low on parts so I need to order some stuff.

alright, it's morning, that means it's fluff time:
Navigator Nera lay in her helm pod, guiding the ship of rogue trader Simon Booshe through the warp on their way to Gold Station. In truth Nera hated her life as a navigator, ever since she was a child she had dreamed of a different path. She wanted to be a songstress of the stage, and if not for the bad luck of her birth it would have happened, it almost happened. As a young lady on terra, before she was forced into a navigator’s pod she had been a rising star in the operas of Terra. Unfortunately her mutant genes would not allow her to continue that career. At first a membrane developed between her legs. That could be hidden under a dress, but when her legs began to fuse into an aquatic like tail there was no hiding her mutation on the stage. Now she sat in a pod all day navigating the detritus of other people’s hopes and dreams.
Sometimes she liked to remember the days when she was a diva of the stage, and she would sing her old numbers. She began to sing one of the more skill intensive numbers from an ancient Terran opera: the magic pipe. She belted out the chorus of her favorite song of the opera, but then she stopped, realizing there was no one around to hear her sing. She listened to that silent response, just the hum of the ship. Then she heard what she thought was an echo of her song, but then it continued where she left off. A chorus of beautiful voices sang the song, and Nera joined them. She didn’t care what was singing, but it was singing, and she was singing with it. another voice came over her vox: “navigator, why have we changed course?” but Nera did not hear, she was lost in the song. When the song was over the voices quieted and a single voice addressed the navigator.
“my, my, what a lovely voice you have. Tell me would you like to join our choir?” the voice asked.
“who are you?” Nera responded. An image entered her mind of a group of beautiful mechanical women with tails instead of legs appeared in her mind. they sat together on a rock in the middle of a pond.
“why we are the sirens, songstresses of the void. Now tell me: would you like to join us? Be one of us?”
Nera pondered the offer for a moment, before saying: “yes, I want to be one of you, I want to sing.”
“excellent, now open your pod and join us.” Nera did as told, and when she opened the doors to her pod there stood the mechanical women. One of them approached her and flicked a small speck at her. she felt a pain in the back of her neck. “don’t worry, this will link our minds so that we can harmonize perfectly. Now you may be a siren in mind, but you need to be one in body. Come with us.” The group proceeded out of the room singing as they went. Nera, being slow to move due to her tail had to be carried by two of the sirens. As they walked through the corridors of the ship they saw the crew being led away to the bio-forges by necron warriors. They paid no heed to the plight of the crew and instead continued their song.
They passed through a portal to the Siren’s Call, where a special bio-forge waited for Nera. She was strapped into the machine and inserted into the machine. Her last human thoughts were that she was living her dream, she would sing.

Hey, this is great! I was thinking of something similar, but with a Necron Gentleman's Club. "I say, old logic engine. What say you?" with a Necron in a top hat twirling a cane and walking the haters gonna hate walk

alright I'm low on stock parts so I've had to improvise. my Ghost Arks will not be using a lot of the bitz that come in the box, so there are a plethora of parts I could use.

like this member of the Tell No Tales Brigade.

this is the Doomsday Cannon's gunner, former colonel Tyson of the Booshe dynasty, now Master Gunner Tyson. he still needs his arms (and his bottle of scotch) but cookie for anyone who can guess the reference I'm making with this model. (BTW that thing on his face is an eye patch, and that's important)

ok so the doomsday cannon is sort of done (just need the glue to dry before I add the bottle of scotch) and I was wondering what people thought of my design:

I honestly think the addition of the thrusters made it look like an old ship's cannon with the cart thing on it. tell me what you think.
