Hiya, been playing for years and finally turned to the dark side by building a marine force. Tried to incorporate my favourite marine colour, yellow, with a bit of nostalgia in that the first 40k figure I ever painted was a Rainbow Warrior, when a kid. Used the excuse that the different companies used different base colours. Also incorporated an Incan theme as had seen it around and looked pretty cool.

So I now have yellow marines with black detailing and Incan feather purity seals etc. I think it's deviated too far from the codex Rainbow Warriors really so gonna call it a Chapter founded from the RB geneseed instead etc. Saves me doing the rainbow headstripes too as its hard work. Been wracking my brain but can't settle on a suitably RB related name that does not sound chuff, could do with bouncing somes ideas around as my brain is now stuck.

Any suggestions?

The Golden Eagles or Gold Condors.

Gold fits with the paint scheme, your Inca theme, and has a slight rainbow link (pot of gold). The eagle / condor bit links to your heraldry.

Inti was the Incan sun god, and viewed as a protector of the people. I think that sounds like it would suit the Imperium's ego and fit the Incan theme.

If you have access to the deathwatch rpg book(from fantasy flight) it has some tables for coming up with a chapter name, some can be good, but its possible to end up with The Death Death Marines.

This, would make for a very special chapter me thinks. And with a well done paint job they would really stand out

All sound good! I like the idea of using an Incan Gods name, Heralds of Inti or Viroc maybe. Anyone know the name of that feathered flying serpent god?

ps Almost made the Rabid Badger Chapter, all Black with a white head stripe, looked pretty good, but really dont like painting black :-)

Quetzalcoatl its more of an Aztec thing but would be cool none the less.

Aztec is also a pretty cool theme to go with.

The Jaguar Warriors were the elite fighting force of the Aztecs. They used Macahuitls as their weapons. Obsidian edged swords that would chip and fragment as they shredded the flesh of their enemies, leaving shards embedded in the muscle.

Sounds like a badass chainsword to me. Obsidian Chains.

And whats wrong with the Death Death Marines? Sounds like my first army, the Killing Kill Squad.

The problem with being "Heralds of X" or "Something-or-Other of This-Thing-Here" is that, if This Thing Here is not "The Emperor" or "Terra" or "Our Homeworld", it's going to cause beef, fluff-wise, with other Imperial agencies.

Canoness Immolatia: "So, the Chapter is the Heralds of Xotli? Who's Xotli?"

Battle-Brother: "Well, it's an ancient pagan god of death and destruction, which we, being a heavily assault-based Chapter, kind of revel in."

CI: "So not the God-Emperor?"

BB: "No."

CI: "BURN HERETICS!!!!" *FWOOSH!*

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Looks a lot like a chainsword too.
One interesting point in the Aztec religion was that they believed that deities had more than one form, Quetzalcoatl was a "Feathered Serpent" "Pale Skinned Warrior" and (according to some) "The Sun" or "A Light In The Heavens"

Your chapter could always believe that the Emperor is too awesome to have a single form, which would avoid the "Burn Heretic" problem.

I don't think you would cause that much of issue with the fluff. Give the leader of the Heralds of Quetzalcoatl the nickname of Quetzalcoatl due to his fighting spirit, or the Heralds of Inti could just be reference to the ideals that Inti represented.

Also in the pre-heresy fluff heaps of worlds worshipped entities that were named something different but still represented the Emperor. The Sun, their moons etc etc.

No reason Init couldn't be their homeworlds name for The Emperor.

I could see an issue if Inti or whoever was supposed to be some secret geneseed dude (sorry only fluff I have read extensively is my Eldar codex) that no one knew about.

OR, the Heralds of X refer to War Chief X of the Rainbow Warriors who was selected to be the new Chapter Master of the Heralds of X.

From wikipedia

"The Incas considered their King, the Sapa Inca, to be the "child of the sun."[6]"

Sapa Inca - Chapter Master?

The Sapa Inca also presided over ideologically-important festivals, notably during the Inti Raymi, or “warriors’ cultivation

Inti Raymi 1st Company?

The administrative, political and military center of the empire was located in Cusco -
Homeworld?

The Spanish adopted the term (transliterated as Inca in Spanish) as an ethnic term referring to all subjects of the empire rather than simply the ruling class. As such the name Imperio inca (Inca Empire) referred to the nation that they encountered

I would call them the 'Imperio Inca' chapter

Wow, look at me, looking something up and then stealing bits of it to put in fluff....I should work for GW (momentary delusion of grandeur...)
