Yesterday I participated in a 2v2 game where it was my necrons and a friend's Ultramarines vs. Grey Knights and CSM. The GK terminators ended up not coming in from reserves until turn 3, but when they did come in they proceeded to wreck a unit of marines. They took a round of shooting from some nearby marines, as well as the Tesla Destructor, until only a single terminator was left. Just before he was going to be charged by a single Librarian, the GK player said, "I hope I don't roll perils of the warp..."

...and rolled double 6's.

So who else has a fun story about famous last words in 40K?

Almost every player who have never played against my catachan or seen me play with them: "I can pretty much ignore that punisher. It can't get much done anyway."

The lesson: never ignore a heavily armoured tank that can fire 32 shots a turn.

Gawd it was Eldar on Eldar, two Wave Serpents each. We were playing on our FLGS's Goblin Town board and we agreed that to land on the boardwalks we'd need a dangerous terrain test...

"Ha, my Soul Grinder is totally going to nom those scouts"

Said by my friend as he Deep Striked a Soul Grinder in front of a 5 man scout squad. Only managed to kill 4 with shooting; Sarge proceeds to go 2 rounds of melee with the Soul Grinder and finally destroy it with a melta bomb. He then walked right through the explosion unharmed and strolled across the board to get linebreaker.

Gotta love scouts. Playing only scouts mostly aside from the HQ naturally. "Assault termies against scouts. Your baby marines are screwed." and my three remaining melee scouts (one with a shotgun and the sergeant had been killed) butchered 5 TH/SS termies. It was a suicide charge but my scouts failed the suicide part. Damn disobedient bastards...

I love it. I'm currently playing in a 750pt tournament with some friends and I threw in a bare-bones scout squad to fill in points and give me one extra scoring unit, I figured they wouldn't do anything. That's the unit that killed the Soul Grinder.

The same scout squad, in a Relic mission in the same tourney, infiltrated and ended up charging a squad of 7 lootas. My friend rolled a 3 for his D3 shots, said "Yeah, overwatch is going to murder those guys." Fired 21 shots at the scouts for 5 hits, resulted in 4 wounds. The last scout (not even the sergeant mind you)? He made the charge and fought the lootas for 3 full rounds of combat before killing one and routing them right off the board. THEN he ran all the way across the enemy deployment zone and bolt pistoled the ork carrying the Relic on the last game turn, winning the game for me.

Everyone present agreed that scout had definitely earned his power armor.

"Your Whirlwind is useless now!" quoted a over confident IG player after destroying all of my weapons in a desperation maneuver to screen what I have left in a squad of troops to hold an objective. Next turn I proceeded to tank shock his Basilisk off his side of the board.
