lets face it, we all have that one model in our army that we love above all others, for some it's the model you have the best luck with .
perhaps the one that is the key to your favorite strategy? or even just the most well painted model you own.

for me its Joe.
Joe is the first model i ever painted...and boy did i mess it up. he was a dark angel that i got with my paints.
after he broke , i fixed him, then took him apart and converted him to chaos .
he now sports a power sword he acquired from a librarian. he also brandies a shiny plasma pistol he looted off of his late veteran sergeants body after killing him...
or that's the fluff i made for him anyway.

he now is the acting aspiring champion in my chaos space marine unit consisting of fellow DA conversions
so here is my question to you, Who is the model most special too you? any fluff or back story to go with him (or her)?

pics would be awesome too, i'd post some if i had a camera

Aaaah suicide squads...

#7 mentionned above is part of oen, 10 men with proper gear, used to cost 250 pts for them, plus the Valkyrie to carry them around, half the time they would die because of the gravchute rule.

Godd times, now they're under 170 points if memory serves.

Of course we play favorites... But that doesn't always mean they are the lucky rolling ones

I haven't really named them yet, but they are the boys that I try to keep alive in fights.

This guy is my first painted Death Skull, and I really liked how he turned out. Unfortunately he is the only Death Skull in entire mob... so he's stand out. He's got a looted plasma from a dead space marine sergeant (but he didn't kill the sergeant some other boy did... he just stole the weapon )

This boy is... Well I really liked how he looks with the deffkopta 'ead and all that.

I do especially like my Canoness. Though it seems like I may need to do more research into a first name, her surname is Nerio. Other Sisters come and go from my desk, but she always gets a spot under my lamp. Aside from the fact that I need to paint those extra details on her sometime, it really is just a nice looking model,

Though she has yet to see much tabletop action due to me still getting a sizable force together, I expect great things from her once I get her a combi-flamer modelled and put her in with a Ret squad. Rending flamers are always fun.

My senior officer with a powerfist. He's not the strongest thing, and my luck is a little worse than average with him, but every once in awhile, he beats the hell out of something.

Nobody expects a single, crappy, T3 guardsman to be able to rip apart a leman russ or finish off a monstrous creature with a sucker punch, but sometimes he does it, and it is extremely, exceptionally awesome.

In this case, my senior officer is beating up a barge lord. MSS be damned!

Just another of those cool things you don't expect a guardsman to do that they can when they're a senior officer with a power fist (well... and a refractor field...)

I run IG and over the years I've promoted the best and brightest *or in one case the most ruthless* into the ranks of my officers. With that being said its really hard to choose but if had had to say the one that i tend to favor, would be Captain Vladimir of my second PCS. In my army's fluff he is the commander and longest surviving member of a internal penal platoon, stuck there after he tried to kill the regiment's colonel but wound up having the snot beat out of him by her. In actual games, his platoon is my from line and bubble wrap, that guys that always take the most beating. His most notable action would be calling a basilisk artillery strike down on some DE that were dangerously close to him, the DE were wiped out and a few guardsmen were lost but that's their fault for not getting out of the way.
[Thumb - Camera phone 1218.jpg]
I can always see him screaming at his troop to get in the fight and waving around his power maul to as a threat.

Mine would be my Chaos Lord Merreck. He is the model I put most effort into painting and the outcome surprised me. I will never be able to duplicate that feat :(
Last couple of games he pretended to be Kharn and had a great time until he shot himself through the head with his plasma pistol.
He's the only figure I had in my gallery here on Dakka.

I really should get his TS land raider painted. Even if Merreck is an Alpha Legion Commander

My FW DKOK Commissar, Commissar-General Wolfe, always finds a way into my guard list, usually with his handy sidekick Erasmus Artem, the primaris psyker who has survived and killed more than any guard model should reasonable be expected to do. The Leman Russ also always makes an appearance, with varying loadouts, regardless of what else is in the list.

For DA, I have a couple of company masters that I often use despite less-than-stellar rules. One scratch-built, is the old master, and is dead as per my current fluff, and the other one (from DV) is his younger, less experienced replacement. It's almost as if the fluf reflects itself in the game, as the older one is a beast in CC, while the new guy (identically armed) usually just flails around ineptly in combat unless the Libby has cast prescience on them. There have been many instances where the two of them will take on a squad, the CM will kill maybe one guy, the libby will get 4, and I can just see him turning to the CM and telling him 'Much to learn, you still have...' before moving on to the next target.

My Trygon, and my wife always kills it. Not even out of spite, but I swear in our last 10 games that thing is dead by turn 2 of her eldar shooting. It has a lot to do with the silly 'eldar guns can AP2 anything!" and it being so large for cover saves.

It really only takes a group of dire avengers or warp spiders to take him out very quickly. : /

@13whited: if you want to do a kind of narrative campaign for your army (which I heartily recommend, it adds a ton to the feel of the army), there are 2 ways of going about it. One is to create some characters and backstory, and then play a few games and watch the story evolved, creating fluff for each battle after it happens, or to have a general idea where you are going with an overall story arc and planning your games around this.

For example, if you go with option one, and have few chaos characters, (lord, sorcerer ect) and go for a pick-up game at a store against nids, then after the game you can write up the fluff and batrep for the game based on the outcome, or if you go with option 2 (which works better if you know who you are going to be playing in advance), then you can think 'Oh, I'm playing an eldar army next thursday, how can I fit that into the story?' Either way works (I prefer the second, as I only have a small gaming group and can generally arrange games for batreps beforehand), so give it a go and see if you enjoy it.

Another good way to keep momentum going is to create a blog or web page to chronicle your battles and also to host fluff for your characters, warband and other stuff. I've just started something similar for my guard, and it's a great way to think about your fluff more than just playing the games.

Hope that helps

My old Imperial Fists commander got the nickname Captain Awesome because he never once died in hand to hand combat even when swarmed by sisters repentia in one game. Just a standard Captain with storm bolter and single lightning claw. Didn't even have a paired weapon bonus attack. Just seemed that he always rolled amazing in melee and his opponents always rolled awful. So I started throwing him out as melee bait and my opponents would throw a couple of units at him in CC and he'd continue to win and then they would finally vaporize him with a fusillade of heavy weapons fire.

He is one of a handful of minis I kept my Imperial Fists and I am looking to find a role for him in my DA army now.
