So, yesterday I'm at my FLGS and my dark eldar are lighting it up. 25 shots per venom and my opponent is just picking his models up off the table when they die, and hucking them into the box in which he transports them... I mean I'm not being a dick about anything and I'm just trying to have a fun game, and he's getting upset everytime I obliterate a unit. Granted it's worth noting that both of us are grown men, me (29) him, in his 30s. I didn't expect this kind of behavior...

To be honest it depends. If you were fielding a cheesey WAAC style netlist designed to table people, then that reaction wouldn't be unexpected.
If it was just a regular game and you were rolling hot, then it's him just being a sore loser. I've seen people get really angry over bad luck even when everything else is fun.
It sounds like the game wasn't fun for your opponent, but not enough information to glean if it was because the table was one-sided, or if he was just a sore loser.

I didn't know Dark Eldar could be WAAC... They're a pretty middle of the road army. And I was facing Vanilla Marines who are one of the better armies right now...

Interesting. I'm assuming you have venoms with dual SC holding 3 trueborn with 2 SCs and one with a rifle? Good unit unit for 121 points. Of course the trueborn SCs are only going to snap shot if you moved at all.. and being an elite unit you could only have had 3 of them. Which is usually not that hard to take down. *edit* Vanilla marines? ANY of those units should have dropped the venoms with just their bolters.

How am I a dick when we're T3, 5+ armor and AV10. That's crazy logic, we deserve to spam and have a lot of firepower due to how fragile we are. Also assuming has made you look foolish. Who said this was a friendly game? Actually I have a tourney coming up and gave him the komp restrictions and told him this was a tourney list and to bring his best. So you're wrong sir.

If it's one game, it happens. Might be nice to call it early, if it's brutal.
If it's regular, regularly curbstomping people isn't a good thing.
Sometimes Marines just fail. And that can be frustrating. My last 3 Marines games I made <50% of my 3+s. Heck, my Dark Reapers, in my last Eldar game, failed 7 of 9 3+ saves. When dice hate you that much, it can be frustrating.
Edit: it being prep for competition definitely changes things.

I never know really what the level of SPAM is for any unit that is SPAMable, but to be honest, they cost a certain amount of points and if that is what a player wants to spent his points on, and the selections are legal, deal with it. I think there are ways of dealing with anything, unless someone is getting them for free, which I hate.
But to the OP, I just wouldnt want to play with that guy again. I'd sooner play against myself.

Focusing on winning is a characteristic of a player, not an army.
Anyways, he was probably just getting frustrated by the fact that he wasn't really getting to do anything. Putting minis down and then just picking them back up again isn't all that entertaining.

I can see that, but in my humble opinion, the only thing worse than losing is being a sore loser. Even if I'm crushing somebody, I'm ALWAYS cordial and kind.

I was playing a guy like this (my Eldar vs his Genesteeler cult).
He was throwing dice around as well as his models. I got so fed up I charged my farseer into a bunch of genesteelers to try & end the game as quickly as possible by suiciding a much as possible. I had never used him in combat before. I managed to kill 1 GS which he had painted with a gold head. This was to show which GS was his patriarch, a fact I had forgotten. He then told me he then had to do a leadership test on every unit. I have never seen so many double-sixes or 11's rolled. 3/4 of his army fled the field.
Most satisfying win ever!!
BTW I knew Adam Troke when he was a key timer in the Winchester shop. I once played him at WHFB. I used my VC, can't remember what he used. Anyway he won, really won, wiped me out without losing much of his force. Now I do mind losing but try not to show (difficult when you have autism) but lose often so am pretty used to it! However the amount of gloating he did was horrible. What is worse than a bad loser - a bad winner. Automatically Appended Next Post: Needless to say I didn't play either of them again.

Ugh. I hate playing against people like this. I look to have fun. I don't care whether or not I win. In a game of Tyranids vs Necrons, my opponent dropped his Monolith right in front of my Tyrannofex. I rolled a 6 for the Strength test. Just like that, the last of my anti-tank was gone. What did I do? I laughed. It was friggin awesome.
Sorry. If I find myself playing somebody like that, I'll just pack up and find another opponent. It's not worth my time.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

I've played a few games against a guy like this. He gets so heated about bad dice rolls, and swears, stamps his feet, complains about the randomness of the game when he fails rolls. Tossing dice and models around like a child (nicely painted models too). He doesn't get angry at me per say, but goddamn he makes me feel crappy for winning.
After the second game of this, I just try to avoid gaming with him as much as I can, or failing that, trying to play a very narrative focused game where the 'stakes' for winning and losing are lower. I try to interject as much dumb narration as I can when something goes horribly, horribly wrong.

Games are swings and roundabouts.
Really can go either way with one poor roll, but nothing to get upset over.
Ive lost count the times ive lost a unit to a DS mishap lol.
Its just one of those things.
But if someone knows its a competitive game when building the list, you build it to play the best you can or expect to get beaten.

I'd like to disagree. Pouting because you're playing an opponent with a strong list is just as unacceptable as pouting because your opponent is getting good rolls. It's part of the game, and people should understand that.

If someone has a fluffy list and tells you they want to play a fluffy game, and you agree, then bring a fluffy list.
However, as you've claimed in this thread that you told him to bring a hard list so that you can practice for a tournament, then he should have brought his A-game. But maybe he doesn't own a competitive army? I don't know the guy.
"Actually I have a tourney coming up and gave him the komp restrictions"
What are these comp restrictions that your tournament is using? Perhaps that's not his style of play?

It's pretty much all codex power units cost a komp. I'm bringing my dark Eldar to the event, because they've barely been hit by these komp restrictions.

Sometimes people really look forward to a game to relax.
Then the unsuspecting player gets stomped.
Things did not go according to plan.
Unhappiness happens, some are better at controlling it than others.
Try to keep it light, help the other player out where you can plus statements like "wow, the dice I am getting today are scary!"... facing someone on a hot streak is different than a list destroying you.
I do admit it would be silly NOT to have a few venoms with the trueborn in them, they are that good. Dark Eldar is very hard to play well so I find it difficult to condemn their use.
