Also its funny how you only get 5 for the same price as the old. Yeah, you get a ton of bits and you can make a command squad out of them, but really GW? Maybe I dont want to have 25 options for every model and just want a set of 10 that wont cost me an arm and a leg...

hint: 10 new Stormtroopers as as expensive as a Land Raider.

These are the old storm troopers

Karskins are elite soldiers from Cadia.

Stormtroopers come from the Schola

I have a box of the old Kasrkin, but I do like the new Stormies.

Kasrkin are by far my favourite.

The old kasrkin are awesome and I love them. But I do like the new stormies, really like the berets. I'm British so every self respecting guardsmen in my army will have a beret. Only downside really for me is the renaissance esque breastplates...

Model wise, technically yes. The scions replace both the Karskins and the stormtroopers.

Unless FW or GW decides to remake Karskins.

I prefer the Kasrkin models over the Scions. I think the more Utilitarian look of them better fits with the Guard than the baroque, almost gaudy stylings of the Scions. Of course the Scions are more in step with the classic storm troopers.

I won't be able to give a concise answer until I get my hands on an actual Scion kit. If there's bits in there to make them less flashy then I'll like them.

I have to agree though that the Scion Command squad puts both the Cadian and the Catachan Command squads to shame in terms of stylishness.

I really like both of them. But I have none of them, because $35 for five models is absurd. Went third party for mine, and got twenty troopers for $35.

I voted for the Kasrkin, and rather regret not picking some up a month or two ago. My monthly 40K budget feels like a succession of evac craft trying to rescue the few survivors of planet metal from the plastic apocalypse...

I don't dislike the new ones as such, and daresay I'll pick some up eventually, but I do feel that the odd blue color scheme does the models no favours at all.

Edit: Incidentally, is it my imagination or are they bigger/chunkier than the Kasrkin? The plastic Cadians are already taller than my older (Steel Legion/Mordian) Guard and these guys look even bigger.

I hate the kasikan. Well I love them, they where my second squad I ever had but I really hated the guys aiming at the ground. I am very glad the new ones have arrived.

Forgeworld has Cadian in Hostile Environment bits which has the torso and helmet similar to the Karskrins.

Well, if you're wanting to flatout make "Kasrkin" then you want the "Cadian Respirator Conversion Kits", not the Hostile Environment Troops.

Kasrkin don't have the air-tank(and heat exchanger) on their backs, they simply have a respirator mask attached to a relatively standard Cadian helmet.

Rumor has it the Veterans will make it out slightly better than the current IG 'dex. With that in mind, will we be stuck having to buy the scions if we want AM veteran squads? I suspect that A) We see the kaskrin box re emerge to fill the void or B) An AM second wave that has a new veteran box or $35 (i don't consider MT to be the AM first wave).

Saying because while i don't mind the scions, they look out of place in the absence of the kaskrins.

Prefer the old stormtroopers and kasrkin over these newer plastic aboms.

I could be slightly biased though - as I do have some 50 of the kasrkin and 20 of the older stormies. All in metal and they probably cost me about as much as 10 of these new plastic chumps will cost.

Prefer the old ones. I'll probably use either Kasrkin or DKOK Grenadiers as my ST (also working on a DKOK platoon, so the Grenadiers should fit in nicely).

I think the old ones fit better with the Imperial Guard's "WW2 in Space" theme.

But taken on their own as models, I think the new ones look better.

Eisenkern Stormtroopers > Kasrkin > New STs > Old STs. Old STs were bad enough to not buy any - so are the new ones, especially given the price. As mentioned above, buy 20 third party ones that look better for the same price as 5 from GW.

Personally I'd go:

DKOK Grenadiers > Kasrkin > New ST > Eisenkern ST > Old ST. Though the last 3 are pretty close to me.

I don't really know what people love about the Eisenkern ST, they look pretty ugly to me.

Different people like different things.

It's like fish fingers and custard. Or marmite/vegemite.

I think the new ST look balls. But I also haven't liked a lot of new stuff GW has put out in the last 10 years.

I'd put the Eisenkern before the DKOK (but I'd also put the new ST before the DKOK models.), for example.

Old Kasrkin are full of win. Especially in Urban-Camo. 3 Valkryies of these Veteran Imperial Guard Proxies and your opponent will learn respect!

I have at least another 50 metal ones to do...

I need to finish them, but I love the old ones - Always will.

New ones are *meh* they look a bit WARMA-HORDES rather than 40k?

Yeah, I guess my thought was more that I see them championed so much I feel like the odd one out for thinking they look pretty average.

I like a red/black scheme on them as well

remains to be seen how the scions will look apart from their GW blue scheme shown above.

My order would be

DKoK Gren > Scions/Old ST>Kasrkins>Eisenkern ST

The last two aren't bad at all, but they're missing the heap o' gear the Scions/Old ST have, while the Grenadiers are just that preeeeeeeeeeeeetty.
