As above, have you ever been so engrossed in putting a model together that you've glued something/clipped something where you shouldn't have?
I offer the first tale- today when I was assembling my 2nd Necron Scythe flyer. Easy peasy right? Not quite. In typical manly fashion I didn't need instructions. I got to the wings- I had forgotten that the wings were supposed to be assembled a particular way. By the time I realised, the poly cement was well under way with bonding the pieces together forever. Took about 10minutes of gently pulling it apart and praying that the damage would be minimal. Lol.

I think the worst mistake I have ever made was when I got the Eisenkern Storm Troopers. I had them all nice and assembled. It was a day later that I realized that I had the shoulder pads on the wrong way. All 20 of them. It took a lot of prying to set them right.

Bought the plastic Hive Tyrant. Built it, magnetised it, then realised one magnet was the wrong way around. I ended up having to cut part of the torso away to get a file in and pry the magnet out, now the torso is back together but needs some work to get that area looking right.
Then I realised that as well as that, I forgot to attach the foot pincers, and it was already plastic cemented to a base. Waiting for a new base to arrive so I can cut it off that base, attach the pincers, and attach to a new base.

Clipped the end off Gloin's axe (Hobbit EFGT) which I then lost completely
- took me about 10 attempts to repair it with greenstuff/miliputt/bluestuff, ended up cutting off the good axe end, molding that and then switching them, it isn't perfect, but barely noticeable. I got really good at sculpting/duplicating though
Oil washed with Mineral Turpentine, which is not white spirit, and my first airbrushed model was now ruined completely.

I'm extremely cautious when I model, so I don't tend to make HUGE mistakes.
My worst mistake has been choosing to prime my drop pods before assembling them. Since I did that, I couldn't plastic glue them, had to be super glue. Since I did THAT, they've come apart like ninety times. I'm really sick of gluing them back together.

Going have to be plastic gluing my first sentinel's legs as going straight up from the feet then a perfect 90* angle parallel to the ground. It is quite possibly the most stiffing looking sentinel I've ever seen.
Close second was buying GW thin plastic glue. That stuff is worthless.
I also have a really annoying habit of gluing FoW infantry to their bases before I've painted them.

I've done that before with Battletech miniatures. Every once in a while you come away with a model that looks better than if you had gone with the standard assembly. Usually, though it is just an embarrassing mess.
I recently discovered that a Wraithknight I had assembled and sent off to be painted was missing some fins on its wraithcannons. The model is already back from the painter and my eyes can't help but fixate on the negative spaces where those missing bits should be.

Years ago I got the box of power armored infantry from the Starship Troopers tabletop game. I don't know if they just didn't have instructions in the box or I lost them, but I saw on the art they had these codpieces in place. I built the squad, painted them to my exacting 14 year old standards, and took them to the tabletop. A friend of mine noticed that their codpieces looked strange. Turns out I'd glued the backpacks on the troopers' crotches and the actual codpieces were still on the sprue. The newly dubbed "cod squad" was never the same.
And that's the last time I used plastic glue.

I am still a fan of plastic glue for its wonderful ability to keep my fingers from being glued together/to a model, though I made the mistake of gluing the sponsons onto most of my Russes (prior to the removal of Lumbering Behemoth, but still...), and gluing the main guns into the turrets. I have one that's fully magnetized and I really wish I had done it with all of them, but there's no going back once plastic glue has its way. Not exactly the end of the world, I know, but I hate having empty sponsons on the tanks because they look stupid.
I guess giving all of my GK Justicars hammers (plastic glue again) and then finding out that they would just get smoked in challenges was pretty annoying. I had to lop off the hammers and pin halberd heads onto them, which basically leads to a pinpoint drilling nightmare.

The lessons I learned with magnets... out of the couple dozenish necron destroyers of various kinds I have, three of them have magnetized bases they can only share with each other, and not the rest, because of polarity issues.
I also assembled the forge world Tau command suit, and put the shoulder wings on upside down.
Then that time I was painting the 4 part GW hill, and forgot to basecoat one part before I sprayed on the base color, leaving it distinctly different than the other three.

Exactly, it's nice having the extra attack on someone with a hammer but never going first is generally awful when even a lowly guardsman sarge can take you down with a decent roll. The halberd basically guarantees I will go first against most reasonable things and all you need to do with force weapons is get one wound through anyway haha. The halberds have taken down plenty of other marine sergeants and power armored characters.
To stay more on topic, no one has experienced frustration until you try to drill a hole into the shaft of a Space Marine sized thunder hammer. I tried super glue and plastic glue to get the halberd head to stay on but they kept breaking back off no matter how careful I was. Thank god for modeling vices...

Made it recently.
I got the new plastic Tauriel model from the Hobbit SBG range, and wanted a unique base. So I clipped her off the little log that she stands on, and pinned her to a broken statue piece (a statue's foot) from a Scibor Miniatures basing kit. Only, I didn't pay enough attention to the angle at which I attached her to the base, so instead of standing upright shes leaning back a few degrees.
Its annoying the hell out of me, because the painting so far is the best I've ever done.

Fortunately, unlike the above, I use very sparing amounts of super glue for resin, with a micro screwdriver, and steady pressure, I was able to pull them off without breaking anything other than the glue bond. It was pretty hairy for a while though, as if you're familiar with the model, those are NOT sturdy pieces, and they attack via a ball socket.
