Here it is:

FOX just gave it a full series order. Now the onus is on them to play the episodes in the correct order.

It's not a sci-fi show and it doesn't have Summer Glau in it, so it'll be alright.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Which still confuses me. Warner Brothers have their own network. Why isn't this show on that?

Despite CW shows like Vampire Diaries / Originals being 10 times better than say Trueblood (especially the later seasons)

the Gotham show looks ok I guess - interesting to see if it works...........

Likely the CW doesn't want to over cannabalize their base as they are already showing Arrow and likely don't want to run back to back series of a comic book variety. Historically, this has generally not turned out well for franchises. Take a look at how increasingly overproduced Star Gate and Star Trek became while running simultaneous series'.

Love that the premise is about Gordon, young Bruce, and the pre super versions of the rogues gallery (how awesome would it be to have Joker easter eggs?). This has promise to be an interesting series. Hopefully it gets managed well.

I don't know if the comparison holds. The people running SG-1 were the same people running Atlantis. There's no reason that the Gotham would be run by the Arrow crew.

I think he's meaning more that Warner Brothers/CW don't want to have too many comic book shows.

If Gotham was going to be on CW they'd need to find a night and some kind of "companion show" to it as "Arrow" is going to have "Flash" starting in the fall for Wednesdays and "Supernatural" is going to have "Tribes".

Looks ok I guess... I would have left Bruce Wayne / Batman out entirely (except for subtle hints) and let it be its own animal.

My original thinking was the Gotham PD department vs. one key Batman villain in each series with an on going corruption plot thread like The Wire.

I think it appears to be more the opposite of that... overarching story of corruption in the department/city on the verge of chaos, with glimpses here and there of some of the villains of Gotham.

Thing I dont get is, how is it, at least judging by the trailer, that ALLLLL of the main villains of the Batman universe are older than B. Wayne? Some of them I get, like two-face and penguin, possibly Freeze, but I'd always just sort of assumed that baddies like Ivy, Joker, and Catwoman were about the same "exact" age as him.

Catwoman only looks about 7 years older than Batman so it wouldn't be too big an age gap but it does seem kinda off
Aside from that I'm quite excited for this

Catwoman is around the same age as Bruce Wayne, 10-13ish.

It looks interesting, but I hope it doesn't rely on grim, bleak and dark elements to the exclusion of fun.

Fox had a hand in bringing us the definitive version of Batman (in my opinion) with the 90s animated version, so I'll at least tune into it to see what it is like.

Looks good. All I wonder is if the pre-character setting will be enough to elevate this beyond 'generic cop show 1000'. I think it'll need more than namedrops to really set it apart, which may or may not happen.

Anyone know what channel this will be on in the UK?

Joker's always been older than him. He was already about 10 years older than Batman when he was knocked into the vat(it was really early into Bat's career).

This should have been Gotham Central.

The CW are already most of the way through producing a pilot for The Flash, that has had an introduction on Arrow already.

It should've been Law & Order: Gotham City, focus on the cops and the DA's department (meaning Dent can start as a junior Assistant DA), and the Batman is a peripheral character who shows up 4-5 times a season, mostly for a scene or two.

So does this mean we get to see the Joker before he becomes the Joker? A sleazy gangster type?

I'm a bit put off by the kids in this. Surely if Gotham is such a dangerous place then kids wouldn't really be seen as any kind of threat.

Then again Robin...

It depends on the continuity. BATS and Batman 89 had The Joker as a major gangster.

Whereas Joker's story in 'The Killing Joke,' The Arkham series and the like is effectively more, "the wrong place, the wrong time and one... bad... day." Well, assuming you take him at his word.

I really am surprised they're doing it this way. I figured the best way would be using Batman Year One as more of an inspiration - So have it be something like Batman: Year -3. As opposed to what? A decade earlier?

I'm probably long, but I just can't see how this show will have legs. With Arrow at least, you know they pretty much have 5 years worth of storyhooks, at least, outlined.

This seems to be like an automatic assumption that they'll manage to reach Smallville's 10 year run to even attempt tell a worthwhile story.

Yeah, that's the impression I'm getting. Except Bruce is younger than Clark was on the show.

On the other hand, Gordon is supposed to be the main character.

It just seems to me that they set it too long ago.

Sorry for posting in an old thread but it's related.

I just saw the new run of trailers for Gotham. While watching one, I realized something. This show is about the total and complete failure of Gordan as a police detective. I mean, all the villains get their start during this show and are committing their most brazen acts during Batman's movies. I guess Gordon spends most of his time at the doughnut shop waxing poetic about the city circling the drain?

Well the people we see are organized crime types, or proto-Catwoman. I don't think it is a surprise that Gotham isn't doing well; by the time Batman becomes Batman the syndicates have a stranglehold on the city. So, yeah, this could be about either how Gordon et al kept it from being worse, or how the corruption became so bad that a vigilante needed to show up to bring the city back from the edge.
