The winds of change are upon us, bringing AdeptiCon back in a BIG way for 2015. AdeptiCon will be held March 19th through the 22nd and will be moving to an all-new venue: the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center! With over 160,000 square feet of combined ballroom and convention space available for our event, the Renaissance looks to be AdeptiCon’s home for the foreseeable future! The AdeptiCon 2015 block is open and you can book your hotel room now!

AdeptiCon has grown consistently over the past twelve years, from the humble 110 person event in 2002, to the amazing 2,200 attendees AdeptiCon hosted in 2014. Over these twelve years, AdeptiCon has been held at four different venues. We have expanded from a handful of events to well over 180 tournaments, event games, and hobby seminars covering all aspects of the miniature war gaming hobby. Despite the continued growth and necessary expansion, we have made every effort to keep consistent focus on one major priority: to present to our attendees the highest quality war gaming event possible. This will remain our priority for 2015 and beyond.

So what can you expect for 2015? First, a lot more space! The kind of space that will allow AdeptiCon to expand its programming – the same kind of events, seminars, and tournaments that have made AdeptiCon one of the world’s preeminent war gaming events.

Looking to game for only a few hours at a time? Tourney events not really your thing? AdeptiCon 2015 is happy to announce that we are expanding our Event Game offerings and dedicating space to these stand-alone events all weekend long. The Event Game Area will be host to dozens of convention-style games that are sure to sport some amazing miniatures and terrain.

While it has, in the past, been difficult to find an open table for pick-up games or the invariable grudge-match, have no fear, for AdeptiCon 2015 will have a dedicated Open Gaming Area. These tables will be available all weekend long.

Hoping to find some space to sit down and do some painting with other like-minded hobbyists? Maybe you need to put those inevitable finishing touches on that last model before the tournament? AdeptiCon 2015 has you covered. A dedicated Hobby Area will be available all weekend for any painting or modelling you might be inclined to do.

AdeptiCon is expanding our extremely popular Sunday evening Board Game night… to run all weekend long! With dedicated space for board game play, a board games library to check out games from, and a wide slate of board game events, run by some of the most popular board game companies in the world, the Board Game Area will be a great addition to AdeptiCon 2015.

Bloggers, vbloggers, ‘casters, and podders get ready, because AdeptiCon 2015 is proud to offer you dedicated private recording space for all your social media needs.

Finally, we are looking at completely revamping our registration process to provide you with a better experience from start to finish. Look for event registration to open early November.

AdeptiCon 2015 promises to be one of the best gaming and hobby events in the world. Building on a solid twelve-year history of success, AdeptiCon is ready to expand in 2015, providing attendees with even more options and possibilities. Stay tuned for continued updates and more information.

Room booked. No option to pick 2-beds vs. 1-bed. It's just a standard room, whatever that is...

I've booked, too! Definitely planning on attending, and if needed you can cancel without fee (and aren't charged until the event).

Just booked for Thurs-Sun nights, as that worked well for me this year since I didn't play in the 40k singles championships.

I've only attended twice, in 2012 and 2014, both at the Westin... so I have to wrap my mind around this . I didn't realize you've had 4 venues, though, so this changing it must seem like old hat for those who have attended longer.

@Hulksmash - Good catch, the hotel has made adjustments to the website and bed options should be available for selection.

I don't see a bed option on the website, muwhe, just "standard room". I'm using the link Matthias put above to book the room, or clicking "Modify reservation" in the confirmation email I got from the hotel. Neither shows a bed option that I can see.

@RiTides - It may take a bit of time to process through the Hotel system, but the change has been made and the link should be updated shortly.

Additionally, for anyone that has already booked, if not already noted in the reservation, the hotel will be contacting you to assign room type.

Not sure if I'm going to go or not. What's it normally like? (Never been to Adepticon before?)

Awesome....That is all.

Ok, not all. It's a great place to get your geek on. Better if you have buddies you're meeting there to hang with but not hard in the least to end up with a group of random people that become your buddies over time. Just a really fun weekend you can geek out at

Hit up youtube for some videos of adepticon coverage. I know bad dice podcast did quite a few videos. If what they say about this coming year is completely true and from what i have experianced in the past, it will be an awesome event. I have only played in events once but have been to observe and walk around which is fun in itself. I had an AWESOME time this past year gaming at adepticon and am already working on next years army.

The only concern after looking through the hotel information and seeing the place and reading all of the new spaces available is what the cost of events will be this year. Im a gamer on a budget and i know events like this are not cheap by any means(i have negoiated hotel contracts for conventions) but I dont know if ill have the money to drop another $100+ for 2 events then If it goes up who knows.....

Bottom line is, it is a totally awesome gaming event. Everyone should go at least once

I'm a little annoyed. I still haven't been contacted by the hotel regarding the room thing and I still can't change it under my reservation. I'll give them a call this afternoon but so far the hotel is making this more work than it should be

Yeah, I figure I'll just give it a few days... then again, I listed that there'd be 4 in the room to try to force it to give me a 2-bed one

Yeah I did 3 which is probably accurate and should net me a 2-bed room but I just like to make sure. Especially when it's $121 a night in a new hotel

Oh I wasn't really complaining about the price. I thought it was close to the same as last year. You know gamers and change though

Dang it. I knew what to expect at the Westin. But I'm not worried about it. It's already being worked on. Thanks!

Did not know about the free wi-fi. Happy to hear that. Hopefully the servers are up to it

I was worried about this when we were looking at April for my wedding, but luckily the move to March helped.

Now I get to make Adepticon my bachelor party of sorts.

I just checked and was able to modify my reservation to be a "Deluxe Double" rather than a "Standard Room". Has anyone else done this? The description is nearly identical, but the picture seems to show 2 beds, and it lists maximum occupancy as 5 instead of 4.

I don't see the Deluxe Double option listed when I go through attempting to make a new reservation (as a test), though.

@RiTides

i got confirmation from the hotel that I was switched to a deluxe double so I hadn't checked the site yet. I know they were going through all the reservations and contacting anyone who didn't specify so you probably beat them to calling you to find out

Me thinks they are going to need to open up a larger block of rooms.

We are working with the hotel already on daily basis. Over nine months out and we already have well over 1,400 room nights booked. Even peak nights are getting close to the total allocated. The bookend nights have been increased accordingly to accommodate additional requests. For those who run into any booking issues, please send an email to info@adepticon.org. We will actively work to with the hotel to accommodate everyone's needs as best we can.

Schedule of events is typically released sometime in October.

Definitely contact Greg if you guys are having issues. He's doing an awesome job with the transition to the new hotel.

Glad to hear they are pushing more of the bookend rooms. I had a couple of people mention that the bookends were an issue they were running into in our facebook group. I'll let them know they've been increasing them.

And there should have been a smiley face on my quoted comment. The new hotel was obviously being reasonably cautious of a 1st year event at their location.

Yeah - it's really about risk management for both AdeptiCon and the Marriott.

AdeptiCon 2015 Event Submission Now Open!

In conjunction with the move to the new venue, development has begun behind the scenes as we prepare to kick AdeptiCon 2015 planning into full gear. One of the more significant changes in the coming year will be regarding how we handle demos, event games and smaller tournaments. In the past, space restrictions forced us to micromanage these events so that they all fit within the hotel and made sense with regards to the schedule. We will no longer have this problem at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center...we have the space...and we need more games! We are looking for a few good game masters to run demos, historical events, specialty games, board games, and anything else that makes sense!

AdeptiCon 2015 Event Submission is now open to the public. If you are interested in running an event, please take the time to look over the form and get it submitted as soon as possible. Some things to keep in mind:

  • Space and schedules are limited. Events that are new to AdeptiCon should be scaled appropriately to justify inclusion in the schedule based on space required and realistic attendance expectations. AdeptiCon will work with you to properly scale your event.

  • AdeptiCon reserves the right to refuse any event submission due to content or schedule/space saturation.

  • All required fields MUST BE fully completed when submitting this form. Incomplete submissions or submissions with placeholders will not be accepted.

  • Spell check your event descriptions!

  • Event Submission will close at 5PM CDT on October 3rd, 2014.

  • You will receive an email after the schedule has been resolved in mid-October with your scheduling details.

  • If you have any questions, please get in touch!
