Read it again. It's not just 1 CAD and 1 Allied. It also allows 0-1 of all other detachments. That does limit non-7th codexes a bit thought.
@Muhwe
Opinions submitted. And looking forward to the draft team rules. So much painting to do
Some of the "non" 7th ed codexes already allow it.
CSM/Black Legion/Crimson Slaughter can all effectively self ally.
Tau/Farsight Enclaves can self Ally
Imperials can do pretty much whatever they want.
That leaves:
Necrons (likely updated before Adepticon)
Dark Eldar (likely updated before Adepticon)
Tyranids (likely the odd man out but there are like 16 formations and some swanky LoW to choose from)
Deamons (The ability to drawn in CSM and friends though provides options and these guys also have some swanky LoW choices)
Eldar (limited ally abilities and 1 formation but can ally with Tau/Farsight and Dark Eldar)
We have also left ally levels unrestricted (for now) so just about everyone has a ton of options.
We got your feedback and will be compiling and continuing to test over the next few months.
Regards,
Chris
So you guys are allowing codex supplements to self ally via the allied detachment? Because that is actually a bit contentious and should be spelled out in the document. Also if that is true are you allowing Iyanden to self ally?

We are now seeing Tournaments banning units for being to good. If you don't like it maybe war machine or X-wing is something you would be more interested in playing.

Couple important things to remember:
First, these are all in draft stages. We have been tossing around these ideas for some time and a number are still under consideration and review. In fact, we expect revisions. AdeptiCon is still 7 months out; thinking back where the game was 7 months ago, and what the thoughts were for formats then as opposed to now, anyone can understand that this is an evolving process - it has evolved and will continue to evolve as we move further away from 6th edition.
Second, this is just one 40k format event out of 18+ or so 40K events we run at the convention. If there is an event format that you like to play, we are most likely running it at some point during the weekend. Want to play smaller point games? We’ve got you covered. Maybe some Horus Hersey 30k is more your style? We have a whole separate track of events planned. Not on board with all this ally, formation, and dataslates nonsense? Maybe some vintage single codex 40K is for you. Team events? Check!
@Necronlord3 - We fully realize that some people will want to see the Trans Ctan included. We certainly appreciate and consider all feedback. However, regardless of the ultimate decision, some segment of the community will feel it is the wrong decision. After 15+ years of running 40K events across five editions of the rules, some things will always remain constant. Here is to another 15+ years.

If I don't want to lug things to Schaumburg from Chicago w/ there be tables set up with Miniatures already that I can play at?
Demo's etc..
Also, I really want to play Warhammer Quest and I have not played it in like 16 17 years, so do you know if anyone there supports the old GW stuff
Specifically I want to play
Necromunda
Bloodbowl
Warhammer Quest
And participate in a Narrative that I maybe don't ahve to field my miniatures.

Hollismason, there are some events that provide miniatures, and there certainly are demos. You can look at the list of offerings in November when registration goes up.
However, the large marquee events all require painted miniatures to participate.

We are working hard to set up demos and participation type games for Adepticon 2015. Game systems already on the list include Infinity, various Mantic games, Saga, Hail Caesar, Fire Storm Armada, Wreck Age, Legends of the Old West. Necromunda and Bloodbowl both have tournament events on the schedule. Unfortunately, no volunteers have stepped up to run Warhammer Quest.
Anyone looking to volunteer to run events at Adepticon 2015 can submit their request to: http://www.adepticon.org/?page_id=9095

Oh cool , will definitely participate in those, to bad about Warhammer Quest but you said you had a open table area and a board game thing.
Is it okay if I brought my Warhammer Quest box and stuff?
Also, I wanted to bring my old Talisman to the board gaming thing cause it's my favourite board game is it okay to bring games to that or is it like a organized thing?

Warhammer 40K Tactical Objectives for Playtesting
While we are still a ways off in finalizing our mission and scoring formats, we have been playtesting an alternative set of Tactical Objectives for the possible use in Maelstrom of War missions at AdeptiCon 2015. The cards presented below are based on the Tactical Objectives presented in the Warhammer 40,000 7th Edition rulebook, but have been modified to better suit the event. In some cases, cards were completely removed and replaced. Additionally, some cards now have a discard mechanic allowing you to immediately draw a replacement card.
Please keep in mind that this deck is still in the draft stages and we are looking for constructive feedback. If you have any questions or comments, please get in touch!
AdeptiCon 2015 Warhammer 40K Tactical Objective Cards (Draft)
Also...as Rhysk says a page or back: "We have also left ally levels unrestricted (for now) so just about everyone has a ton of options." Our intention was for this event to allow unrestricted Allies, yet it was not completely clear in the first version of the draft rules. This has been amended.

Please note, the Championship Draft rules have been amended:
For the purposes of this event, Allied Detachments may be chosen from the same Faction as your Primary Detachment. This effectively allows a Faction to ally with itself
These updates are based on feedback received from the initial post. We agree that allowing unrestricted same faction alliance gives consideration to older codecies without direct access to "Codex Detachments". We understand that this is a change to the rules presented in the main rule book but believe that it bridges the gap for older books until the entire codex library is brought in line with 7th edition.
Furthermore, we have intentionally left Ally Levels Unrestricted (for now). This was intentional from the start, but as a few astute readers pointed out was not entirely clear.
These rules are meant to be considered in tandem with the recently posted Adepticon Tactical Objective Cards (Draft). Many of the 40K events will leverage Maelstrom of War style missions in some form and those events will use these deck rules. As always, constructive feedback is encouraged.

They are meant to be seamlessly inserted into the Maelstrom of War Missions presented in the Main Rulebook. While the actual missions used in Adepticon 40K events may not mirror the BRB Maelstrom missions identically, you should feel free to use them for play testing purposes.

I saw the tactical objectives. Does Adepticon plan on using tactical objectives in the Championships and/or the team tournament? I must state my opinion that I think this is a very very bad idea. Malestrom of war simply does not work in a competitive setting and I will have to rethink my plans to play in these events if they rely heavily on malestrom of war.

While I'm not a fan of random objectives leading you around by the nose mid game without much game long planning involved, personally, BAO and ETC have both done OK jobs of making this mission type work alright for fair play. I suspect adepticon will also!

Judging by your avatar and your handle I wonder if you are biased?
The Tranny C'Tan is way, way, way over the top as far as power goes. The thing can kill armies by itself with just the other units standing around cheering him on. How do drop pods kill him?How does poison kill him? How does anything kill him that he can't kill first?Tau? Give me a break. 6D6 strength 8 AP 3 shots will destroy anything and everything at range, and that is just one of his shooting powers.
We will see just how powerful he is next month when a couple of larger GTs allow him, but I predict it will not be pretty.

Yes, if you take a Wraithknight, and 2 Farseers, and if you roll the perfect powers, and manage to cast them all you can make a model as tough as the Tranny C'Tan. Here is what you are missing:
#1. The C'Tan is small and can hide.
#2. The C'Tans powers can't be denied.
#3. The Wraithknight is not a Gargantuan creature (Khan insta-kill 2 wraithknights and so did a Khorne herald last Saturday).
#4. This is the big difference...the fire power. The C'Tan will take 2 units off a turn, the Wraithknight is hardly killing anything.

I note that it says that models must be mounted on 28mm-or-larger bases. This seems odd since necromunda figures were always sold with 25mm base. Probably a typo, but kind of an important one.

I am very excited for Adepticon as always and am sure it will be an incredible event as always!
I would like to add my two cents too, that limiting some of the crazier LoW would be a prudent choice as some of them are so incredibly powerful that while they can be beaten, will utterly dominate many players and make the game not that enjoyable for them. Some games will be over in the first shooting phase.
But, either way, Team Zero Comp will be there having fun.
