So I have a Centurio Ordinatus army with three vehicles, and Ordinator archmagos, and his Thallax bodyguards [pictures are available upon request!]. I have been writing the Great Crusade fluff for the army - about where the Ordinati were constructed, what purpose they were for. I made up my own Expeditionary Fleet for the Crusade fluff (the 114th) and an alien for them to fight, et cetera.

Now the question is, with the 114th breaking up into infighting at the end of the Great Crusade as the Horus Heresy spreads, for which side do you think the Centurio Ordinatus detachment under its overseer, Archmagos Ordinator Navarra Anthyren, would declare? The detachment's primary function was the sundering of the shielded and walled megahives on Gavros-IV, a noncompliant human world, and the destruction of swaths of Rathars xenos species during open war cleansing the world for human habitation.

Anyways, poll is up!

Loyalist. The loyal half of the mechanicum is just leages more likeable and endearing compared to the traitors. Baiscally the loyal half had to stand against the pursuit of knowledge to uphold the core tennants of their religion. Much more worthy than "I want info and bio-mechanical tentacles."

also, factors to consider:
1) darker or lighter reds and colors when it comes to painting?
2) what is more compelling: further knowledge, or sticking to your beliefs?
3) do you want to have access to most of the special characters?
4) etc.

I generally agree with you, but the Centurio Ordinatus is the only organization allowed to innovate within the Mechanicum, which means that it is likely already borderline heretical...

... that said, the entire subcult remained loyal as an entity (even if parts did turn Traitor, I'd imagine) so perhaps being allowed to innovate removed some of the motivation other Mechanicum members had for throwing off the mantle of the orthodoxy.

Nice army!

I voted loyalist because legio mortis turned traitor - how do you lay low the largest titan legion in the galaxy? Ordinati.

Actually, that's all he has the option of.
A Leviathan force organisation chart has only one 'unrestricted' Lord of War - the other two are bound by the 25% limit, meaning 750 points in a 3000 point army. 'Only' the Saggittar fits.

Looking at your signature and description of the background, these guys were presumably attached to the Complanii - the Ordo Reductor generally stayed loyalist, so the balance of probability is loyalist.

Thanks! And yeah the Saggitar is all I can stick in.

Oh! And I suppose it is worth knowing that my Ordo Reductor were mostly sold off to fund this insane project ... so my sig is somewhat inaccurate. I will have to fix it when I get home this evening.

Why do you suppose they are traitor in the main?

Because Mars as a world went traitor, plus most of the named mechanicum unique character (except Caleb Decima) are traitors.

Plus, you know, dark mechanicus tech at some point.

Fair enough. Until they have a traitor Magos Ordinator, I think I will be loyal based on the results of this poll.

Did the Centurio Ordinatus have its own deployment vessels or did it deploy from Naval starships?

I would assume it'd have its own mass transporters. Certainly Titan Legion forces did, and no standard naval lander - even one designed for super-heavy tanks - is going to be able to handle something the size of an Ordinatus artillery piece.

That makes it easier to declare independently of the loyalty of one's Crusade Fleet, because one could just wander off before everything is sorted as far as loyalty goes...

what do you all think about my Ordinatus mass transporters fleeing from a battle between the loyalist and traitor elements of the 114th Expeditionary Fleet and having to go it alone until they rendezvous with loyalist forces somewhere? Too cliche?

Possible.

I'll warn you that the idea of a Mass Conveyor fleeing from any 'proper' legion warship which isn't inclined to let it go is going to be like watching a race between Mo Farah and an asthmatic, obese Midwestern High School Kid.

If there were friendly warships which were fighting to buy them time to get away, maybe - and if you wanted a legion-free army, then maybe they managed to buy time for the Ordinatus cohort to flee, but were unable to get away themselves afterwards, leaving the Ordinatus stuck on their own (give or take any attached mechanicus escort vessels).

That is very compelling - it would mean my Ordinator probably would wish to repay the legion whose ships and personnel bought her time to escape!
For what it is worth I have no idea what legion was with the 114th.

No idea, I'm afraid. To be honest, unless there's a real reason, pick a number and a legion you like the sound of. There's certainly no master list I'm aware of.

I was thinking White Scars, so that there is a good number of traitors and loyalists, and they seem like the type to need the aid of something like the Centurio Ordinatus to flatten some massive fortress.
