Gathering Storm – First Look

The Eye of Terror is about to open and unleash a tide of darkness, Daemons and traitors into an already beset Imperium. Against the unified might of the Traitor Legions stand the heroes of the Cadian Gate, who will stop at nothing to drive back the Gathering Storm.

The scene is set for the most epic narrative in the history of the 41st Millennium – a fitting celebration of 30 years of Warhammer 40,000 and a great way to kick off the next 30 years of grim darkness in the far future.

The Gathering Storm begins with the epic events detailed in the Fall of Cadia – available for pre-order on January 7th.

The miniatures accompanying the first Gathering Storm book represent a few of the factions that stand against the Legions of Chaos, including: our first plastic Inquisitor miniature, the huge and hunched form of an ancient Archmagos Dominus, and the angelic Saint Celestine, resurrected (or possibly, saved from the dust bin) leading the Imperium’s armies.

Also, we intercepted a few transmissions in the Cadian Sector…

Subscribers to our Twitch Channel can watch back the live-stream at twitch.tv/warhammer, which includes some discussion about the new book and gorgeous, 360* views of the miniatures.

2017 can't get here soon enough. Unless it brings new plastic Cadians, then it can screw off!

Well this has been known for couple month. It was nlt maybe

I doubt it's anything more than Celestine and her bodyguards. This isn't a Codex release, and the fact that it's three special characters means, to me anyway, that none of the armies involved ('cept maybe Templars) are getting a full update.

So? Regardless of what the end result it, we have gotten some plastic sisters. I've been waiting a long ass time for this.

Those are literally plastic sisters models.

But it doesn't mean there's a plastic Sisters range coming with this book, or anytime soon. As I said, it's not a new Codex, it's just a single special character.

It'd be like claiming that Shadowfax means that "The Inquisition is now in plastic!". It's not. It's 1 model.

Let's not overstate or inflate this to silly "Plastic Sisters & Half-Life 3 confirmed!" levels of Internet Hyperbole.

I wasn't responding to you. I was responding to that other guy who said that there were no plastic sisters. That's obviously not true. I'm not talking about a range; just that there are now plastic sob models.

I really like the Seraphims' Jump Packs. Very cool design.

I do like that they didn't redo the aesthetic, but kept it largely with where we were just better.

Celestine is cool. But basic Sisters models GW. We just need some basic troopers.

I must keep the faith strong!

As much as I don't think they're coming anytime soon, I suppose that the Gemini proved they can do good looking SOB models in plastic.

As for Celestine... Maybe she forms a unit with those two sisters as attachments that follow her, like Tau drones?

Having some fresh scuttle butt, she's an optional construction variant in the seraphim box. And would be coming along with two other kits, one being a basic troops/elite?(Not sure what the second option was) multi-box and the other I've got no clue, but it's supposed to be another sisters box. All out by end of January.

Source? Or is this from you?

Complain at me the end of January if I'm wrong. Reasonably confident in the source and no it's not the usual suspects of wild speculation.

Better time frame than most of these things at the very least.

That said, they seemed to consider her being part of the kit to be cool because it means you can customize a hero, which is pretty rare. And I'm going to guess either it's going to be a very painful 3 model kit to buy, or they just showed us three because it looks good in a picture.

I won't complain about anything, but you have been added to the Rumor Tracker.

I've got no idea of the accuracy of any of this but from what I hear the next couple of months of GW's release schedule looks something like this:

Fall of Cadia releases.
Tzeent AoS stuff.
bolter-sisters (hopefully a multi use plastic kit for bolters/special/heavy weapons)
steam dwarves AoS stuff.

So maybe march/april for plastic sisters, but it looks like we are to get our releases in drips and drabs

Although I hear that 8th is to be around that time too. I can't say anything for the actual rule set, aparantly it brings a new game type. There'll be the current Unbound and the current battle-forged, but also a new tournament style format that's easier to pick up and play (it sounds contradictory to me). Something that does away with formations and the general bloat of stacking special rules upon special rules but should make it easier to balance.

As i said before though, i've got no idea of the accuracy of any of this.

Source or is this from you?

The time for the timetable is speculation on my part.
The source for the order is Atia.
The source for 8th is a 'friend of a friend'.

What I will say is that FLGS have already got emails about what items are available to pre order for January and February (and possibly March). I've personally managed to get a glance at Jan and feb from a few feet distance. I can't say what's on the lists other than a vague chaos stuff in January, but can say they are both pretty full on months, atleast a dozen items each.

Welcome to the tracker for the last part.

I cannot find the link atm but there was a Black Library author who spoke about the (high) possibility of an Exodite models release not too far in the future. Atia was referencing to him as well. I think/believe they will come sooner than later and in plastic. Except for more (Wraith-)Knight variants, the missing Phoenix Lords or plastic Rangers/Pathfinders the range is mostly complete and Exodites are the logical way to expand the faction and the 40k universe story-wise.

What site?

Id have to try and scour my messages, he sent me a couple of pm's after he took the thread down since I asked some questions, he was right though, although the main thing is I cant remember if my questions were just what was in the WD or the TL book itself.

If they were private, nm.

I cannot find it now, but it was quoted or at least mentioned on B&C. After looking for ~20 minutes, and google is not very helpful, I found Atia's quote from 30th of March 2016 (like here http://www.warhammer-forum.com/index.php?/topic/218300-calendrier-des-sorties-40k/&do=findComment&comment=2895942 ) about two old factions coming back but not that original conversation on B&C which was a bit more informative. This was also not the only mention. I will continue searching tonight if some one else doesnt chime in who remembers it.

Edit: Link fixed

I'll dig a bit but it makes me nervous that the only place that Atia quote appears is on that site.
