For some reason today's textbox seems glitched.

Long story short: Faeit has launched a rumour about GHB II being released/announced this week-end. We've got the head of books of GW, Pete Foley, comment on twitter that this will be a thrilling event for GW in multiple levels and we've heard from a trustworthy user that they plan of making an announcement at 2:00pm for which staff will be defriefed just 10 minutes prior to.

And it's a 40k new edition launch!

https://www.facebook.com/1575682476085719/videos/1816147022039262/

Marking the 30 year anniversary of the setting, this latest incarnation of the game promises to be the best yet. For existing gamers, this edition represents a fresh start. With a sleek core rules set that is still recognisably the game we know and love, it allows you to play more games in less time and fully supports open, narrative and matched play. This is the game you have asked for. This is the best Warhammer 40,000 ever.

Would that count as a 'big event'? I mean isn't this a book people already sorta knew was coming?

Yeah it's not a "Big secret" but I can see why GW would try and hype it up someone commented this on the article.

User: Confirmed, have 2 buds going and they were handed out yesterday, I don't think it's a massive secret in their world but as a 40k player it was news to me

We don't know whether or not it's GHB II, or if it will make radical changes or there will be something more to it, which is why I'm posting this. Anyways, GHB II will mean an overall tweak and adjustment of the powerlevel so even if knowing it is (which, again, we don't know for sure) it's still big news.

They could be telling us what's in the new General's Handbook.

Can the subject at least be altered to reflect that this is AOS related?

Heh, if you hover over the GHB it will tell you Generals Handbook.

Also, we don't know what other items will be announced at SCGT. In theory, they could drop some information on 40k, maybe.

Doing a 40k announcement at the world's largest aos tournament would be rather weird. I am wondering if we get another global campaign to go with the book, though there is already the narrative event. They could finally show off the shadow Aelves or a new campaign book. They could do all of those at once.

Whether it's "just" GHB II or something else, it's comming tommorrow.

I would be disapointed if this would just be the anouncement of GHB II

I think it might be this.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

it seems highly unlikely to do this during an AoS tournament

Wasn't there a rumor not so long ago about some kind of worldwide campaign for AoS/40k? Similar to the storm of chaos 40k event some time ago?

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

The campagin where 4due to the expansion of the Eye of Terror a new realm gate opens, allowing the imperium to be reinforced by 1 of the missing primachs and his golden marines plus there allies.

The real reason Squats were brought back to AoS and not 40k, also introduces the new streamlined 8th edition for the first time.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Well to be fair so far emps has been doing a better job of keeping his people and universe safe(While dead I may add). While Siggy some how managed to turn abject failure around but given newer fluff may be about to hit a rough patch again.

But while 40k will be dead too me if the AoS the rules and warmahordes it, there is part of me that would love to see the fluff dissonance as Mary sues collide. Also the Tau Railgunning every AoS race back to the old world would be fun

Yeah, a universe the chaos gods actually have no interest in. They screwed him royally back in the heresy, left him for dead and enjoyed the 10-millenia long firecrackers while the anatolian rotted away and became everything he detested. Sigmar's clawed back all while having superior facial hair.

Tau and Kharadrons would become best buds so fat chance. Also, orcs are actually competitive in AoS so further fat chance.

Tomorrow is 49 days until June 10th (the rumored release date for 8th ed), which seems like a proper announcement window. Too short of a window and they can't build hype, too large of a window and they can't maintain it. I was actually expecting it next week (6 weeks out from the launch),

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

I kind of hope it's not, but it's probably 8th. Been awhile since a big 40k news drop.

Perhaps they'll also tease what's releasing next month?

I thought it was announced at AdeptiCon that 40K 8th was coming in 2018.
